Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a glucose metabolism disease characterized by an increase in blood sugar levels and impaired metabolism of fats, protein, and carbohydrates due to a lack of the hormone insulin, both absolutely and relatively. Alternative treatment of diabetes mellitus with complementary therapies, namely acupressure and smart gymnastic, can improve the fasting blood sugar level. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of acupressure and smart gymnastic on fasting blood sugar levels among patients with type II diabetes mellitus. True experimental study pretest and post-test with non-equivalent control group design were applied in this study. Repeated Measure, ANOVA test, showed a significant difference with the mean fasting blood sugar level p-value 0.000 (<0.05). The intervention group is better at lowering fasting blood sugar levels than control group 1 and control group 2 seen from the higher value difference. Conclusion of acupressure therapy with smart gymnastics three times a week for four weeks effectively reduces fasting blood sugar level in a patient with type II diabetes mellitus. This study can be used as a reference for further research, with a larger sample size, controlling the patient's diet, and a longer duration of intervention, so that the results obtained are more valid.

Male infertility has occurred rapidly in the last few decades, primarily in developing countries. An antioxidant, hesperetin is a flavonoid that is found in abundance in orange peels. The aims of this research were to determine the effect of hesperetin on blood sugar levels, spermatozoaquality, and spermatozoa quantity. The research structure included induction of diabetes mellitus and treatment for 8 weeks, followed bydetermination of blood sugar levels, spermatozoa quality, and spermatozoa quantity. Hesperetin has the ability to restore blood sugar levels, spermatozoa quantity, seminiferous tubules diameter, and testicular weight, volume, and germinal epithelial layer thickness with significant difference from the normal control group. Hesperetin did not fully restore spermatozoa motility, viability, and morphology with significant difference from the normal control group, nor from the positive control group. However, overall, hesperetin decreased blood glucose levels, increased spermatozoa quantity, and improved the spermatozoa quality in alloxan-induced diabetes mellitus mice. Dose-dependent activity was observed with the optimum dose at 200 mg/kg body weight.

The condition of high and uncontrolled high blood sugar levels in Diabetes Mellitus patients increases the risk of other diseases, such as; heart attacks, strokes, blindness, kidney failure, gangrene, and even death. Various studies state that there is a relationship between Murottal Al-Qur'an therapy with the stability of blood sugar. The study aims to determine the effectiveness of Murottal Al-Qur'an on Blood Sugar Levels of Diabetes Mellitus Patients in Rasyidin District Hospital, Padang City in 2019. Interventions were conducted during August until September 2019. The population was inpatients diagnosed with Type 2 DM in RSUD Dr. Rasyidin Padang at the time of the study. A sample of 32 people consisted of a case group (given Murottal Al-Quran therapy) and a control group, each with 16 people. Data collection was carried out through observation and examination of blood sugar before and after the intervention. Data were tested by paired sample T-test. The results showed that there were differences in blood sugar levels at both the case and control groups before and after the intervention. The average blood sugar level of the patient in the case group was more controlled, namely 173.94 mg / dl (GDS <200) compared to the control group, namely 226.69 mg / dl (GDS> 200 mg / dl). Murottal Al-Quran therapy can be used as an alternative to maintain blood sugar stability for people with diabetes.

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) Type 2 is a metabolic disorder disease characterized by an increase in blood sugar (hyperglycemia) due to decreased insulin secretion by pancreatic beta cells or intrusion of insulin function. Hyperglycemia tends to cause oxidative stress where free radical formation exceeds the body's antioxidant defense system resulting in microvascular and macrovascular disorders. Some ethnic groups have a tendency to develop type 2 diabetes mellitus because of differences in diet, lifestyle and physical activity. In addition, ethnicity is also suspected to affect the levels of IL-6. This study aims to determine the correlation of fasting blood sugar levels with IL-6 levels in type 2 diabetes mellitus ethnic Minangkabau. This research is cross sectional comparative research design. The subjects of two groups: DM type 2 and control group (non-DM) who went to the Polyclinic of State University of Padang, Minangkabau ethnic and each consisted of 35 people. Blood glucometer examination with blood sample and IL-6 measurement using ELISA technique with serum sample. Fasting blood sugar levels in patients with Type 2 DM Minangkabau ethnic average 286.2 ± 80.46 mg / dl while non DM 101.26 ± 9.70 mg / dl. Mean IL-6 levels in type 2 DM patients were 16.23 ± 30.12 pg / ml while non-DM of 3.41 ± 1.91 pg / ml was an increase of about 4.7 in patients with type 2 DM Compared to non-ethnic minority of Minangkabau with p value <0,05. The result of research that have been done there is a positive correlation between fasting blood sugar level with IL -6 in patients with Type 2 DM Minangkabau ethnic with r value = 0,44 at p <0.05 which means interpretation of medium correlation strength. Keywords: Type 2 DM, IL-6, ethnic Minangkabau

We have investigated twenty five patients with type-2 diabetes mellitus aged (35-60) years and fifteen healthy persons as control group to detect Anti-Helicobacter pylori IgG antibody. All studied groups were carried out to measure fasting blood sugar, anti- Glutamic acid decarboxylase (GAD), anti-? islets cells antibody by IFAT, Anti-H. pylori IgG antibody by ELISA technique. There was significant elevation in the concentration of fasting blood sugar than in control group (P < 0.05), the patients had negative results for anti-GAD antibody and anti- ? islets cells antibody, there were significant differences (P < 0.05) of anti-H. pylori IgG antibody in 28 % of patients had type-2 diabetes than control group. This lead to suggestion that type -2 diabetes mellitus patients are more susceptible to H. pylori .
