ABSTRACTStarfruit leaves (Averrhoa Bilimbi L) is a plant that contains tannins and flavonoids. In accordance with previous research it was stated that tannins and flavonoids have antiperetic activity. This study aims to determine whether the ethanol extract of starfruit leaves has an antiperetic effect in wistar male rats (Rattus Norvegicus L) induced by the DPT vaccine. This study used 15 test animals and devided into 5 grops consisting of negative control (cmc 1%), positive control (paracetamol) and the test dose group namely the administration of starfruit leaves extract 3,6 mg/200 grams BW, 7,2 mg/200 grams BW and 14,4 mg/200 grams BW. Each mouse was induced with DPT vaccine doses of 0,2 ml intramuscularly. Temperature measurements were made taken before induction, 2 hours after induction and every 30 minutes for 3 hours. The results showed a decrease in temperature in the 60th minute of starfruit leaves 3,6 mg/200 grams BW, 7,2 mg/200 grams BW and 14,4 mg/200 grams BW. The data obtained were analyzed using one-way ANOVA test and LSD test. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that the ethanol extract of starfruit leaves 3,6 m, 7,2 mg and 14,4 mg has antiperetic activity in male white rats. Keywords : Averrhoa bilimbi L,Antiperetic,Rattus novergicus L,Vaksin DPTABSTRAK Daun belimbing wuluh (Averrhoa bilimbi L.)  adalah salah satu tanaman yang mengandung zat tanin dan flavonoid. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah ekstrak etanol daun belimbing wuluh memiliki efek sebagai antipiretik pada tikus putih jantan (Rattus norvegicus L.) yang di induksikan vaksin DPT. Penelitian ini menggunakan hewan uji sebanyak 15 ekor dan dibagi menjadi 5 kelompok yang terdiri dari kontrol negatif (CMC 1%),  kontrol positif (parasetamol) dan kelompok dosis uji yaitu pemberian ekstrak daun Belimbing wuluh 3,6 mg/200 gram BB, 7,2 mg/200 gram BB, dan 14,4 mg/200 gram  BB. Tiap  tikus diinduksi dengan vaksin DPT sebanyak 0,2 ml secara intramuskular. Pengukuran suhu dilakukan sebelum induksi, 2 jam setelah pemberian induksi dan setiap 30 menit selama 3 jam. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terjadi penuruan suhu pada menit yang ke 60 ekstrak etanol daun belimbing wuluh 3,6 mg/200 gram BB, 7,2 mg/200 gram BB, dan 14,4 mg/200 gram BB.  Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji ANOVA satu arah dan uji LSD dapat menurunkan suhu rektal tikus. Data yang diperoleh dianalisa menggunakan ANOVA. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak etanol daun belimbing wuluh 3,6 mg, 7,2 mg, dan 14,4 mg mempunyai aktivitas antipiretik pada tikus putih jantan.  Kata Kunci :  Averrhoa bilimbi L., Antipiretik, Rattus norvegicus L,  Vaksin DPT

ABSTRACTSawilangit leaves (Vernonia Cinerea (L.) Less) is a plant that contains flavonoids as an antipyretic. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of flavonoid compounds from ethanol extract of sawilangit (Vernonia cinerea (L.) Less) leaves as an antipyretic in male white rats Wistar strain (Rattus norvegicus) induced by DPT vaccine. A total of 15 male rats were divided into 5 treatment groups, namely the negative control group (CMC 1%), the positive control group (paracetamol), and the ethanol extract group of sawilangit leaves with a dose of 200 mg, a dose of 400 mg, a dose of 800 mg. Each mouse was induced intramuscularly with a DPT vaccine at a dose of 0.3 ml. Temperature measurements were carried out before and after induction, then every 30 minutes after giving the test material from the 30th minute to the 180th minute. Data were analyzed statistically with One Way ANOVA and continued with LSD test to see significant differences between treatments. Pengukuran suhu dilakuan sebelum dan sesudah induksi, kemudian setiap 30 menit  setelah pemberian bahan uji dari menit ke-30 sampai menit ke-180. Data dianalisis secara statistika dengan One Way ANOVA dan dilanjutkan uji LSD untuk melihat beda nyata antar perlakuan. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa Ekstrak etanol daun sawilangit mempunyai efek antipiretik terhadap tikus putih jantan galur wistar. Kata kunci: Antipiretik, Vernonia Cinerea, tikus putih jantan

ABSTRACTJatropha curcas L. leaves is plants containing saponins, flavonoid compounds such as kaempferol, nicotoflorin, quersitin, astragalin, ricinin and vitamin C. Flavonoids showed more than one hundred kinds of bioactivity, which is antipyretic, analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects. Several researches informed that flavonoid compound had antipyretic activity. The aim of this study was to examined the effect of ethanolic extract of Jatropha curcas L. leaves as antipyretic on white Wistar male rats (Rattus norvegicus) induced with DPT. There were 15 rats tested, divided into 5 groups that is negative control (CMC 1%), positive control (paracetamol) and treatment group of physic nut leaves extract 200 mg, 400 mg and 800 mg. Every rat was induced by fever using 0,4 ml of DPT vaccine intramuscularly. The temperature was measured before the rats were induced, 2-3 hour after induced and every 30 minute for 3 hours. The data obtained were analyzed by ANOVA (Analysis of Variants) and LSD. The results showed that the dose group of Jatropha curcas L. leaves ethanol extract had comparable activity with positive control of paracetamol in reducing fever. The conclusion was the ethanol extract of Jatropha curcas L. leaves has an antipyretic activity that could reduce temperature on white Wistar male rats at a dose of 200 mg, 400 mg and 800 mg. Keywords: Jatropha curcas L., antipyretic, Rattus norvegicus ABSTRAKDaun Jarak Pagar (Jatropha curcas L.) merupakan tanaman yang mengandung saponin, senyawa flavonoida antara lain kaempferol, nikotoflorin, kuersitin, astragalin, risinin dan vitamin C. Flavonoid menunjukkan lebih dari seratus macam bioaktivitas, antara lain efek antipiretik, analgetik dan antiinflamasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji aktivitas antipiretik ekstrak etanol daun jarak pagar (Jatropha curcas L.) terhadap tikus putih jantan galur wistar (Rattus norvegicus) yang diinduksi vaksin DPT. Hewan uji yang digunakan sebanyak 15 ekor dan dibagi menjadi 5 kelompok yaitu kontrol negatif (CMC 1%), kontrol positif (parasetamol) dan kelompok dosis uji yaitu pemberian ekstrak daun jarak pagar 200 mg, 400 mg dan 800 mg. Setiap tikus diinduksi demam dengan vaksin DPT dosis 0,4 ml secara intramuskular. Pengukuran suhu dilakukan sebelum induksi, 2-3 jam setelah pemberian induksi dan setiap 30 menit selama 3 jam. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji ANOVA (Analysis of Variance) dan uji LSD (Least Significant Different). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kelompok dosis ekstrak etanol daun jarak pagar memiliki aktivitas yang sebanding dengan kontrol positif parasetamol dalam menurunkan demam. Kesimpulannya ekstrak etanol daun jarak pagar (Jatropha curcas L.) memiliki aktivitas antipiretik yang dapat menurunkan suhu tubuh pada tikus putih jantan galur wistar (Rattus norvegicus) pada dosis 200 mg, 400 mg dan 800 mg. Kata kunci: Jatropha curcas L., antipiretik, Rattus norvegicus

Jawa bark (Lannea coromandelica) is a part of the plant that can be used empirically for handling wounds. This study aims to determine the activity of ethanol extract of Jawa bark on healing wound and determine the effective dose compared with povidone iodine. The test animals used were white rats (Rattus norvegicus L.) consisting of 5 groups, namely negative control (vaseline without extract), positive control (povidone iodine), dose of 250 mg/kg BW, dose of 500 mg/kg BW, dose of 750 mg/kg BW. Each rat made an incision in the area parallel to the spine with 2 cm long and 2 mm deep. Measuring the length of the wound was done every day for 14 days. The data obtained were analyzed statistically using One Way Anova and followed by Post Hoc Duncan test. Statistical results showed that the ethanol extract of Jawa bark has an activity in curing slice where the effective dose is a dose of 500 mg/kg BW with a wound healing time of 12 days.

This study aims to determine the potential for glucose levels in the blood of ethanol extracts of the begonias (Begonia Sp.), the effect of the extract on the pancreatic histopathology of white rats (Rattus norvegicus) which was induced by streptozotocin, and the effective dose begonias’ extract leaves on the histopathological descriptions of pancreatic male white rats. This study was an experimental laboratory where the research group consisted of group I (the control group) as a normal control was given a standard feed, group II (negative control) was given a 0.5% Na CMC suspension, group III (positive control) was orally given glibenclamide and experimental groups IV, V, and VI (doses 50, 100, and 200 mg/kg BW). Were given ethanol extract of begonias leaves. The results showed that the ethanol extract of the begonias (Begonia Sp.) contained secondary metabolite compounds, namely flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, polyphenols, and tannins. Ethanol extract of begonias leaves at adose of 50 mg/kg BW was an affective dose in reducing blood glucoselevels by an avarage of 101,8 mg/dL) and a dose of 50 mg/kg BW can affect the histopathological picture of the pancreas in STZ induuced rats with an average damage value of 2 from a maximum of 4.

Burns are caused by heat exposure, such as fire, radiation, electricity or chemicals that can damage the skin and affect the body's systems. The aim of this study was to find out the effect of the ethanol extract of Malacca leaves (Phyllanthus emblica) on the number of fibroblast cells in white rats (Rattus norvegicus) that have burned. This study used 24 white rats (Rattus norvegicus) were divided into 4 groups that smeared with aquadest as a negative control (P1), 5% ethanol extract gel of Malacca leaves (P2), 10% ethanol extract gel of Malacca leaves (P3), and positive control applied with bioplasenton® gel (P4). The IIA degree burn were created by placing a 2x2 cm hot iron plate on the back of the rat for 5 seconds. The euthanasia performed to all animal and the skin samples were collected after 15 days of treatment. Then histopathological preparations were made using HE staining. The number of fibroblast cells were analyzed by ANOVA test. The average number of white rats (Rattus norvegicus) fibroblast cells that suffered burns P1 (negative control) had a number of 7 ± 1.4 cells/visual. Whereas th e P2 group had a number of 4.2 ± 1.58 cells/visual. This value has a significant difference with the negative control. But the P2 and P3 values (3 ± 1.51 cells/visual) there is no significant different with the P4 value (positive control) with an average number of P4 fibroblast cells were 2 ± 0.4 cells/visual. The results of this study concluded that the ethanol extract of malacca leaves 5% and 10% had an effect againts accelerating burns healing in white rats ( Rattus norvegicus).

The snake fruit peel (Salacca zalacca (Gaertn.) Voss) traditionally has several health benefits, one of which is to treat diabetes mellitus. This study aimed to determine the content of secondary metabolites in the ethanolic extract of snake fruit peel and its activity on glucose and urea creatinine levels in male white rats (Rattus norvegicus). Phytochemical screening of extracts was carried out qualitatively and quantitatively using UV-Vis Spectrophotometry. This study is a laboratory experimental study using 30 test animals divided into 6 treatment groups (normal control, negative control, positive control, 70 mg/kg BW, 140 mg/kg BW, and 280 mg/kg BW). The results showed that the ethanol extract of the bark of the salak fruit contained 7.61 %w/w alkaloids, flavonoids 0.041% w/w, tannins 1.18% w/w, and saponins 2% w/w. Ethanol extract of salak fruit peel dose of 140 mg/kg BW affected decreasing blood glucose and urea creatinine levels. The skin of the salak fruit has the potential to be further investigated as an antidiabetic.

This study aims to determine the type of secondary metabolite compounds in red betel leaf ethanol extract, the potential of red betel leaf ethanol extract on blood glucose, creatinine, and urea levels of male white rats induced by streptozotocin. This study used 30 white male rats which were divided into 6 groups: normal control, negative control, positive control, the dose of 150, 250, and 350 mg/kg BW. The showed that results ethanol extract of red betel leaves contained alkaloids, flavonoids, phenols, saponins, and tannins. Ethanol extract of red betel leaf at a dose of 150 mg /kg BW is an effective dose in reducing levels glucose blood with an average value of decreased blood glucose levels of 238.25 mg/dL, and has an effect on creatinine and ureum, with an average dose of 350 mg/kg BW with a mean creatinine level of 0.64 mg/dL and mean ureum of 39.68 mg/dL. Research on potential hypoglycemic effects of ethanol extract combination of onion forest bulbs (Eleutherine bulbosa) and burmani cortex (Cinnamomum burmanii) in streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetic and glucose tolerant rats (Rattus norvegicus) has been conducted. This study aimed to determine the hypoglycemic effect and the effective dose of ethanol extract combination of forest onion bulbs and cinnamon cortex. Extract was obtained by maceration using 96% ethanol. A number of 30 male rats were divided into 6 groups and each group consisted of 5 rats. The first group (negative control) was given Na.CMC; the second group (positive control 1) glibenclamide 0.45 mg/kgBW; the third group (positive control 2) acarbose 9 mg/kgBW; while the 4th, 5th, and 6th were successively given combination of ethanol extract of forest onion bulbs and cinnamon cortex at doses of 100+100, 50+50, and 25+25 mg/kgBW. Each rat group was intraperitoneally (ip) induced with STZ 40 mg/kgBW and then treated for 14 days, after the rats developed diabetic condition, glucose tolerance test was performed with the induction of sucrose 150mg/kgBW which was continued with observation in minute 60, 90, 120, 150, and 180. Treatment data were analyzed using ANOVA (analysis of variance) with 95% confidence interval. The results showed that ethanol extract combination of forest onion bulbs and cinnamon cortex had potential hypoglycemic effects in male rats of which the most effective combination dose was at a dose of 50 + 50 mg/kgBW

Irregular urine output triggers kidney stone disease. One way to cure it is by using synthetic diuretic compounds. The use of synthetic diuretic drugs for a long time can cause side effects, namely gastric damage. Therefore, research is needed to determine the diuretic effect of ethanol extract of avocado leaves (Persea americana) and its effect on the histological structure of the gastric  of male rats. Avocado leaf extract is made by maceration method, using 70% ethanol and then evaporated. Wistar male rats were divided into 5 treatment groups namely negative control (aquadest), positive control (furosemide), avocado leaf extract dose of 50 mg / kg body weight, 100 mg / kg body weight, and 150 mg / kg body weight with oral administration for 15 days. The volume of urine  was measured for 24 hours, then the mice were sacrified on the 16th day. Gastric organs were taken for histological observation by the paraffin method and Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) staining. The results showed that the optimum avocado leaf ethanol extract was a dose of 100 mg/kg showed a diuretic effect but did not affect the histological structure of the gastric.

Abstract Cigarette smoking is one of health issues that mainly harmed the lung due to its free radicals. Kecombrang (Etlingera elatior J.) is a medicinal plant known to have a high amount of antioxidant. This study aims to determine the effect of antioxidant in Etlingera elatior J. flower on the improvement of pulmonary histology of male white rats (Rattus novergicus L.) as the secondhand smoke (cigarette exposure). This research was conducted by experimental method with ethanol extract of Etlingera elatior J. flower and pulmonary organ of white male rats as the test materials. There were 25 white male rats that divided into 5 groups (Positive Control, Negative Control, P1: 30 mg/Kg, P2:60 mg/Kg, and P3:90 mg/Kg). The results were statistically analyzed using One Way ANOVA test and Duncan’s test. The results showed a decreased amount of damage at P1, P2 and P3 groups. The statistical analysis showed that Etlingera elatior J. flower extract had a significant effect (p <0.05) on the histological improvement in each group. Group P2 shows the lowest rate of damage that it can be concluded the most effective dose in repairing the damage to rat pulmonary histology due to exposure of cigarette smoke.
