scholarly journals Exploiting the Interdependence of Electrocardiography (ECG) with other Physiological Parameters of Human Body in Remote Monitoring System

Human body holds physiological parameters like heart rate (HR), respiration rate (RR), temperature, blood glucose level and blood pressure (BP) that indicates the health state. Monitoring these vital signs detect early signs of significant diseases like cardio-vascular and pulmonary which increase the death ratio as 70% of global death and in India it was attributed to 61% as per World Health Organization (WHO) report. With advancement in modern technologies health monitoring is achievable without affecting their regular activities and by making people to be at anywhere, not to be in hospital for long stay. In this paper the relevance between electrocardiography (ECG) and remaining other physiological measures is highlighted which will be incorporated in the design of health monitoring device in near future by revealing its complexity and ensures the high comfortability in accessing the device.

Abstract: The increased use of smart phones and smart devices in the health zone has brought on extraordinary effect on the world’s critical care. The Internet of things is progressively permitting to coordinate sensors fit for associating with the Internet and give data on the health condition of patients. These technologies create an amazing change in medicinal services during pandemics. Likewise, many users are beneficiaries of the M-Health (Mobile Health) applications and E-Health (social insurance upheld by ICT) to enhance, help and assist continuously to specialists who help. The main aim of this ‘IOT Health Monitoring System’ is to build up a system fit for observing vital body signs such as body temperature, heart rate, pulse oximetry etc. The System is additionally equipped measuring Room Temperature and Humidity and Atmosphere CO level. To accomplish this, the system involves many sensors to display vital signs that can be interfaced to the doctor’s smart phone as well as caretakers’ smartphone. This prototype will upload the readings from the sensor to a server remotely and the information gathered will be accessible for analysis progressively. It has the capacity of reading and transmitting vital parameters measured to the cloud server and then to any Smartphone configured with Blynk App. These readings can be utilized to recognize the health state of the patient and necessary actions can be taken if the vital parameters are not in prescribed limits for a longer period. SummaryIn order to understand current and changing patterns of population health, there is a clear need for high-quality health indicators. The World Health Organization Study on Global AGEing and Adult Health (SAGE) survey platform and the International Network for the Demographic Evaluation of Populations and Their Health in developing countries (INDEPTH) generated data for this study. A total of 4300 people aged 50 years or older were selected randomly from the Matlab Health and Demographic Surveillance System of the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh. The health indicators derived from these survey data are self-rated general health, overall health state, quality of life and disability levels. The outcome of the study is mortality over a 2-year follow-up since the survey. Among the four health indicators, only self-rated health was significantly associated with subsequent mortality irrespective of sex: those who reported bad health had higher mortality than those who reported good health, even after controlling for socio-demographic factors. For all other three health indicators, such associations exist but are significant only for males, while for females it is significant only for ‘quality of life’.

Abstract This paper presents an Open Platform Activity and health monitoring systems which are also called e-Health systems. These systems measure and store parameters that reflect changes in the human body. Due to continuous monitoring (e.g. in rest state and in physical effort state), a specialist can learn about the individual's physiological parameters. Because the human body is a complex system, the examiner can notice some changes within the body by looking at the physiological parameters. Six different sensors ensure us that the patient's individual parameters are monitored. The main components of the device are: A Raspberry Pi 3 small single-board computer, an e-Health Sensor Platform by Cooking-Hacks, a Raspberry Pi to Arduino Shields Connection Bridge and a 7-inch Raspberry Pi 3 touch screen. The processing unit is the Raspberry Pi 3 board. The Raspbian operating system runs on the Raspberry Pi 3, which provides a solid base for the software. Every examination can be controlled by the touch screen. The measurements can be started with the graphical interface by pressing a button and every measured result can be represented on the GUI’s label or on the graph. The results of every examination can be stored in a database. From that database the specialist can retrieve every personalized data.

Background. According to the World Health Organization, 92% of the world's population lives in places where air quality levels exceed recommended limits. Recently, Ukraine had the most deaths per every 100,000 people (out of 120 countries) attributed to atmospheric air pollution. High levels of atmospheric air pollution have been observed not only in typically industrial regions, but in Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, as well. Objectives. The aim of the present study was to establish the state of air pollution in Kyiv and perform a risk assessment of associated human health effects. Methods. Using official statistics and state monitoring data, the study aimed to identify and analyze risks to the health of Kyiv's population associated with air pollution. The following methods were used: systematic, functional and comparative analysis, risk theory, mathematical modeling, probability theory and mathematical statistics, as well as geographic information system technologies for digital map design and objective-oriented methodology for software design systems. Results. The risk values across different areas of the city varied significantly, indicating that atmospheric air quality remains unstable. Areas with the highest and lowest risk values were identified. Conclusions. The environmental state of atmospheric air in Kyiv requires greater attention and additional research to identify the causes of air pollution, along with implementation of measures to improve air quality. An unknown pneumonia-like disease has emerged in Wuhan, China, in late 2019. It is later named as SARS-CoV-2 which cause COVID-19. This virus spreads easily due to high mobilization and its transmission through droplets or aerosol and fomite. The World Health Organization (WHO) then declared this disease as a global outbreak in March 2020. As the world faces the outbreak of SARS-CoV-2, many researchers race to find the most efficacious treatment for COVID-19. Until now, the most common treatments for COVID-19 were only symptomatic such as decongestant, corticosteroid, interleukin inhibitor, and existing antiviral. The researchers then develop a brand new antiviral that works efficiently to inhibit SARS-CoV-2 and might become prophylaxis. This disease is called Molnupiravir or EIDD-2801, a nucleotide analog which inhibits SARS-CoV-2 replication, resulting in damaged mRNA and lethal virions. Molnupiravir works to produce mutagenesis in RNA viruses and prevent the virus from spreading widely throughout the human body. However, this drug is still needed to undergo clinical trial phase three. In this article, we will discuss how Molnupiravir works and its efficacy compared to existing drugs. This review article aims to provide an update about novel efficacious antiviral for COVID-19, Molnupiravir.

Unless measures are taken, escalating healthcare costs and an aging population will increasingly contribute to financial burdens on federal and state healthcare budgets. With the help of appropriate supports, many older adults can remain in their homes and communities and delay expensive long-term care placements. An important aspect of aging in place is health monitoring so that health issues can be addressed before they escalate. The WHODAS 2.0 is a standardized assessment tool that may be valuable for recreational therapists and others to use to monitor health and functional status of community-dwelling older adults.

By 2020 it is predicted that chronic diseases will account for almost three quarters of all deaths. According to the World Health Organization the elderly population is expected to become 1.2 billion in 2025. This aging problem contributes greatly to chronic diseases like Alzheimer’s; Elderly are suffering from Alzheimer’s. The major implications of Alzheimer’s are patient safety and care. The aim of this paper is to develop a Telehealth system, based on IoT technology, for monitoring elderly individuals suffering from Alzheimer’s. We describe a working prototype that is able to capture the vital signs and deliver the desired data remotely for elderly individuals staying at home, using a wearable ECG wireless sensor. In addition, an Active wearable RFID wristband, with IR room locators are used to monitor the whereabouts of the elderly at room level. This prototype was successfully tested on a number of patients at KFUPM Medical Centre in Saudi Arabia.

According to World Health Organization (WHO), it is estimated that one woman dies in every minute, 1,400 in every day, or 500,000 in every year from pregnancy- and delivery-related complications. A large number of delivery-related complications reported in SDKI in 2017 are long delivery (41%). Both long delivery and pain that distress the mother during a delivery process is the reason for delivery trauma and increases in delivery by sectio caesarea operation. Due to a phenomenon of increasing trends in caesarea operation and other unnecessary medical interventions, there reemerges an awareness to back to a natural delivery concept that considers the whole aspects of human body holistically (called gentle birth).”Gentle birth” is a serene, smooth, gentle delivery and utilizes all natural elements in human (body, mind, and soul). Currently, some alternative methods of delivery process with a gentle birth concept are developing, such as prental yoga and hypnobirthing relaxation.             The objective of the present research is to analyze the effect of gentle birth method on the pain level and phase-I duration of delivery in primipara mother. The research is a quasi-experimental research with a post test control group design. Sampling was performed by a consecutive sampling up to the number of sample the researcher wanted has been met according to an inclusion criterion.             The research result revealed that there was some significant average difference in the pain level and phase-I duration of delivery between the experimental and control groups. Expectantly, the research result contributes to midwifery science as an attempt to deliver a holistic delivery midwifery care (gentle birth) so as to relieve delivery-related pain and to shorten delivery duration.   KEYWORDS: Gentle birth, prental yoga, hypnobirthing, delivery pain, delivery duration

Vital signs are a group of essential body parameter, which provides the overall health state of a human body. They often play a pivotal role in accessing the overall physiological state of the human body. For patients requiring intense and continuous monitoring, especially those in an Intensive Care Unit, the essentiality to assess their vital signs regularly. Monitoring the health status of ICU patients becomes quite cost-effective when the same can be monitored within the comfort zone of their own house. The technique elaborated herein revolves around the fundamental idea of implementing a vital sign monitoring system that continuously assesses a patient and regularly updates the same to a centralized server system. In an event of a medical emergency, the relevant data is conveyed to the doctor via an efficient alert system, thereby ensuring safe and timely treatment to the patients. Also, as suggested the proposed design is characterized by IoT capability that allows real-time monitoring of the subject, thereby allowing, minimizing the human involvement in its operation.
