Humour, an established means of releasing stress and tension has attracted scholarly attention over the years. In the Nigerian discourse context, studies on Crisis-Motivated Humour (CMH) via CMC platforms are scanty. This paper investigates humour shared through the social media which reflects the socioeconomic/political challenges in Nigeria in order to identify CMH as a form of humour through which real-life experiences of other people can be understood. Ethnography of Communication and Pragmatic act theory serve as the theoretical framework. Ten anonymous humorous compositions were randomly selected from WhatsApp and Facebook. CMH is a creative composition of jokes which reflects the Nigerians’ experiences, perceptions, imaginations and assumptions. They are purposefully composed by Nigerians, in order to downplay the effects of the crisis and bring temporary reliefs to the audience. These jokes elicit amusement, high-level wits and satirise the crisis situation(s). CMH are composed mainly in English with a blend of pidgin and a reflection of some Nigerianism. They are replete with verifiable, but exaggerated facts deployed through varying practs. Use of the first person singular pronoun ‘I’ and second person singular/plural ‘you’ with the use of simple present tense of verb among other grammatical elements, are a norm. All these make some of the jokes believable and also establish CMH as a unique genre of humour with an unlimited audience. CMH are often preserve-able and re-usable and thus serve as a relevant medium through which political leaders can assess the plights of the populace and access first-hand information on the ‘real’ impacts of the crisis.

The idea of constructivism brings the elements of learning, creativity and cognitive development together. The process provides better engagement among teacher and students through dynamic and interactive feeding of information that the children tries to comprehend themselves through past experiences. Constructivism focuses on process rather than the product. Learning through real life experiences and creating cognitive map makes children grasp the concepts better and apply them in real life applications. The paper tries to overview the theoretical aspects of the constructivist principles and constructivist learning design to execute constructivist teaching and learning in the classrooms

Changes in the technical and vocational education system are seen as demanding and require highly competent instructors staff to engage in teaching and learning sessions including practical in the workshop. Instructor who fulfill the competence element will certainly be able to perform their duties and responsibilities well and excel. This study aims to identify the level of competence of instructor in the practical teaching of Furniture Manufacturing subjects which includes elements of knowledge, skills and attitudes. The data for this study were obtained through a questionnaire instrument developed under the Standard Kemahiran Pekerjaan Kebangsaan (SKPK) or better known as the National Occupational Skills Standard (NOSS) by using five points Likert scale. A total of 127 respondents from among the instructors throughout Malaysia who were involved in PP's practical teaching were selected as a sample of this study. Quantitative research data were analyzed descriptively (mean score) and parametric inference statistics (t-test and Pearson correlation, r) using Statistical Packages for Social Science (SPSS) version 23.0. The findings show that the level of competence of instructors in the practical teaching of PP subjects throughout Malaysia is at a high level. However, there is a significant difference between instructor competence by gender. The result of this study also found that there is a statistically significant correlation between the competence of the instructor with the condition of the teaching practice of PP.

This research aims to find out the typical categories of answers to Yes/No questions most used by students at selected Public Senior High Schools in Medan, Indonesia. These schools were classified into top favorite, medium favorite and non-favorite schools. Through a stratified clustered random sampling technique, six schools were chosen consisting of two schools from each classification. A number of 40 students were chosen from three class X, three class XI and three class XII at each of the six chosen schools, making a total sample of 720 students with 360 sets of dialogue scripts. Data was collected through documentation-recording dialogues. The data was transcribed and analyzed by descriptive analysis. The results of the research showed that: 1) the categories of the students’ answers to the Yes/No questions were distributed variously in terms of the six models. However, the distribution of the answers was not proportionally equal amongst all the models, 2) the dominant distribution of the answers was the third model with the formula Yes/No+additional information such as confirming, supporting, etc., reaching 37% of the total answers, whilst the least common models were the sixth and fourth categories respectively, which had 1% and 3% of the answers respectively, and finally 3) there was no significant difference in the distribution of the students’ answers in terms of the class of school whether top favorite, medium favorite or non-favorite. In conclusion, the ways to answer Yes/No questions need to be developed amongst students by their teachers by teaching and learning using natural, real life-like situations and in contextual ways.

Learning programming is a painful process for most students, especially those learning text- based programming languages. In this study, based on the principle of Bandura’s social learning theory, the vicarious real-life experiences of several pioneers in the field of IT and programming were presented as 15-minutes stories to a group of 9th graders learning to code in Python. A quasi-experimental research design was used to examine the effects of the theory and associated technique on student achievement. The 27 participants in the experiment group watched these presentations before engaging in programming activities while a control group were also observed who received no extra motivational intervention. Those in the experiment group were found to have significantly improved their programming achievement compared to those in the control group. Additionally, the functionality and originality of the experimental group projects were significantly better than those produced in the control group. They reported that they had been motivated by the pioneer stories, and their interest and self-efficacy beliefs in relation to creating high level programming projects were increased. The results highlight the benefits obtained from proper application of a “pioneer-story technique” to improve text-based programming skills.

This aims of this research is to reveal whether a scientific approach in teaching and learning of art and culture can improve achievement of   IV grade students at MI Salafiyah Syafi'iyah II Klinterejo Sooko Mojokerto. Data collection used in this research is some documents of students in the form of activities before and after praticum of _kolase_ that used a scientific approach consisting of learning activity material. Data sources of this research are from educators, observations that have been made during the activity with various media in the collage. The method of data analysis in this research is the quantitative data analysis of experimental research. Based on the results of data analysis known that there is a very significant difference between the value of learning arts and crafts before getting a scientific approach and after a scientific approach. The scientific approach can improve students' achievement and can help students who have low ability, then there is a positive and significant influence between the scientific approach to the learning of arts and culture for IV grade students at MI Salafiyah Syaf'iyah II craft Klinterejo Sooko Mojokerto. Based on the results of this research, it is suggested for the teacher to use scientific approach because it can be used as a way to help students achievement in learning because the scientific approach includes observing, asking, reasoning, trying, and communicating so that students can improve their intellectual abilities, specifically the ability of high level thinking and obtain high learning outcomes.

The Dual Language Programme (DLP) is an initiative introduced by the Ministry of Education to advocate the teaching and learning of science and mathematics in the English language. Resembling the previous educational policy named PPSMI, this programme commenced in 2016, offering the flexibility for English to be used as the instructional medium for the two subjects. After four years of its inception, it is crucial to discover the programme's acceptance among those involved directly with the programme. Thus, this study expounds students’ understanding and acceptance of the programme by investigating the influence of age, gender, locality and the type of school on their understanding and acceptance of DLP.   This study involved 2162 students, and it was found that their understanding and acceptance level of the programme are at a moderately high level. The findings also revealed a significant difference between the acceptance of the programme. As an alternative to solidify the English mastery, the implementation of DLP needs to be improved for it to be well-accepted by interest groups.
