MSME contributes to a number of business entities in Indonesia and has a share in employment. In a business study is needed about the feasibility of the business. But in reality the business owner is only focused on the income and sustainability of his business. Community development contains efforts to increase participation and a sense of belonging to the programs implemented. Empowerment refers to the ability of people, especially weak groups to have access to productive resources that enable them to be able to increase their income and participate in the process of development and decision making. The results of this dedication show that the economic potential in Penajam Sub-district, Penajam District, North Penajam Paser Regency is the food industry, handicraft industry, restaurants and restaurants and MSMEs. Supporting factors in community development in the economic sector include natural resources and abundant human resources. While the limiting factors are limited capital, facilities and infrastructure as well as low community participation.

This chapter examines the effects of different types of start-up rates on subsequent employment change. Longitudinal data on start-ups and employment in Portuguese regions in the period 1996–2007 is used for the analysis. The study addresses whether diverse types of new small- and medium-sized enterprise formation have heterogeneous effects on regional employment generation. It is found that, for the range considered, the seven types of start-ups led to significant and negative effects on the average variation of regional employment. It is also observed that these effects were more negative for start-ups with at least one business owner with higher education in engineering and for start-ups with at least one business owner with higher education in management. The last conclusion is that the share of highly skilled employees has a statistically significant and positive impact on the average employment change and, therefore, on regional development.

Small and medium-sized business enterprises (SMEs) have been operating in the Russian Federation since 1991. The study is devoted to the development of methods and tools for assessing the current structure of production volumes, the number of employees and the number of small and medium enterprises, as well as individual entrepreneurs through: economic and mathematical modeling; analysis of statistics for all SMEs of each of the regions in Russia; modeling of the weights of small, medium-sized enterprises, individual entrepreneurs in the overall indicators of SMEs and their distribution by regions of Russia is based on the functions of the density of normal distribution. Association of regions of the country with similar indicators is based on cluster analysis using the k-means method. The nine functions of the normal distribution density obtained in the course of the computational experiment have a high quality of approximation of the empirical data, which was confirmed by the Kolmogorov-Smirnov, Pierson and Shapiro-Wilk tests. Clusters have been formed that unite the regions of the country with similar indicators, namely, the specific weights of production, the number of employees and the number of business entities. The results can be used to solve the problems of institutional, financial and infrastructural support for the development of entrepreneurship in the regions of Russia, and the proposed methodology is applicable for studying the activities of territorial aggregates of enterprises of any state.

Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) can be defined as a productive business that can be owned by individuals or business entities and has met the criteria as a micro business. UMKM is one of the spearheads of an independent economy that has great development potential, so that the existence of MSMEs can strengthen the people's economy. One area that has a lot of MSMEs is Gunungkidul Regency which is located in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. There are many obstacles in the UMKM business in Gunungkidul Regency, one of which is in marketing and product management. Support from the technological side is needed to increase the pace of the MSME economy. One form of technology support is an inventory application that can help MSMEs in managing product stocks and supporting product marketing. Applications named Nawani and Nukoni can make it easier for MSME business players in marketing products. Nawani functions to market UMKM products and perform stock management, while Nukoni functions as a catalog for MSME products. Based on the test obtained using a Likert Scale, Nawani has a score of 78.8% for the Function Test and the UI / UX Test of 69.6%, while Nukoni has a score of 85.3% for the Function Test and the UI / UX Test for 70.2%, so that both applications are running and suitable for use by both parties.
