Language in any forms, including pictures, conveys massage. Pictures and images carry culture within that reflect attitudes and social life in the world any specific language spoken. Learning English should also be learning its culture to get a better picture of it. One of the sources in learning English is a course book. This article was aimed at finding out what elements that were presented in a senior high school course book of a second grade because of the focus is assumed to be on the lessons in Indonesia. This article report used content analysis as a framework to analyze the culture presented in pictures. It was found that the pictures were well representatives of an English speaking country’s culture. The pictures shared the activities, the seasons, the habit, and the way they dress, behave, and speak that in some ways were different that of Indonesia. The pictures also gave information on different values between Indonesia and English speaking countries

Traditional English grammar classifies the words into eight parts of speech, such has noun, verb , adverb, adjective, conjunction, pronoun, preposition, and interjection (Yule:2004). When someone tries to describe about preposition of place and time, they must give information clearly about anyone their mean to say. in this research, researcher interests to appoint this problem by comparison of student’s ability between graduate of Senior High School (SMU) and Islamic Senior High School (MA) in using preposition into sentence. The method had used in this research was descriptive quantitative. The population in this research are all of students of first grade and second grade of Keluarga Bunda Jambi Midwifery Academy. The sample in this research was 45 students first grade and second grade of Keluarga Bunda Jambi Midwifery Academy consists of 18 students from SMU and 27 students from MA. The result of this research show that score of the students graduate from SMU is 88 highest and 56 lowest, score of the students graduate from MA is 84 highest and 52 lowest. Based on interpretation result with having calculated to table “t” score with df N1+N2-2=43, because there is no df 43, so take df 45. Then this value consult with table of “t” in the significant rating 5% and 1%. The result of analysis data is 0,11 if calculated to the score of critical (t table) so, 2,02>0,11<2,69, it is mean that Ha is refused and Ho is received and it is mean that there is no significant differences between the ability of the students from graduated fo SMUand MA in using preposition into sentences.

Reading comprehension in Indonesian students is very weak. It is proven by Pisa 2018, a result which states that from a comparison between science, mathematics, and reading comprehension, Indonesian students are ranked 74th in the sixth from bottom. This article aims to analyze the level of questions used in an English textbook entitled "Stop Bullying Now" for class XI SMA published by the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia in 2017. This analysis uses Barrett's taxonomy to test reading comprehension. Questions in the book with content analysis of qualitative research. Based on Barrett's taxonomy, there are five levels of reading comprehension questions: literal comprehension, reorganization, inferential, evaluation, and appreciation. The results showed that the level of literal understanding (7.45%), reorganization (0 %), inferential (39.36%), evaluation (36.17%), and appreciation (17.02%). This shows that the higher-level comprehension is dominant over lower-level comprehension, but the level is not evenly distributed in all texts. The results of this study can provide an overview of the level of reading comprehension questions used in the English textbook entitled "Stop Bullying Now," which is helpful for teachers as a guide in learning English reading comprehension.

This research aimed to find out students’ perceptions on the use of vlog in facilitating students’ speaking skill in Senior High School in Thailand. In conducting the research, the researcher used qualitative analysis. The researcher uses interview and questionnaire as research instrument. This research took students who understood technology in the Solihuddin School as the participants. Based on the data analysis, the result showed that the students’ perception on the use of vlog in facilitating students’ speaking skill is good. Students are more creative. They can create vlog in their speaking session. While creating vlog, students can study collaboratively. Students also can speak more confidently and fluently in practicing English speaking. Students are happy in creating a vlog because they are free to speak creatively and innovatively. Vlog can facilitate students in learning English speaking.

Understanding learner interaction in web based learning to improve English speaking skills in second grade classroom of SMAN 4 senior high school Bandar Lampung: using canvas learning management system, English Study Program, Teacher Training Faculty of Bandar Lampung University.The objective of conducting this research is to find out the interaction in Canvas Learning management system (LMS) in the speaking classroom and effects of using Canvas LMS to improve speaking skills. After it is confirmed that there is indeed necessity behind the action, I will explain concepts of interaction, Canvas LMS and speaking skills.   The participants of this research are students in second grade of SMAN 4 senior high school. They are selected as data resource to know about interaction and effects of using Canvas LMS. From them, I retrieve data to be analyzed. By giving questionnaire, observing and conducting independent sample t-test method gives me some findings to discuss. The results show that there is indeed necessity in doing English speaking lessons in Canvas LMS. Moreover it is about students’ interaction and effects to improve English speaking skills. First is about interaction, it is the main ingredient in any kinds of learning methods. There are three main types introduced my Moore (1989), there are learner-instructor, learner- learner and learner-content. Those types necessary appear in web based learning. These interactions lead to improve students’ speaking skills too.

Indriyani et al, (2013) stated that many students had dificulty in understanding the generic structure of analytical exposition text. Therefore, the present study tried to investigate the correlation between students understanding in writing generic structure of analytical exposition and the quality of students’ writing in second grade of senior hight school. Grounded in explanatory correlational research design by Creswell (2011), this study conducted over two weeks in one of senior high school in Indramayu. Close-ended questionnaire and writing test were instruments to collect the data and it was analyzed  by using SPSS 22. The statistical calculation from students understanding in writing generic stucture of the text and writing test indicated that the value of tcount was 3.23 and the value of ttable was 0.361. It can be concluded that the hypothesis was accepted because tcount 3.23 > ttable 0.361. The finding reveal that there was middle correlation or middle prediction in students understanding of generic structure of analytical exposition and students writing quality with the score 0,52.

Reading is one of the important aspects of language learning. By reading, the learners get knowledge and information. But in reality, students are often ignoring to mastering this skill. It is the researchers found in the second grade of SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL Kartikatama Metro Lampung Indonesia, where students have difficulty in reading comprehension, so this leads to lower their learning. Therefore, to improve students' reading comprehension ability, researchers used Written Retelling Strategy (WRS) in the learning process.        The purpose of this study was to determine whether the use of Retelling Written Strategy (WRS) has a positive effect on students' reading comprehension in learning English. Written Retelling Strategy (WRS) considered as one strategy that makes students more active and fun in the learning process to comprehend some text.        Forms of this research are Quantitative Research conducted in two classes. Each class is divided into the trial and reserve grade. Author implements True Experimental Design (Pure Research) by applying a pre-test and post-test as an instrument. In accordance with the method of this study, the data were analyzed using t-test that allows knowing the difference between the experimental group that used a class of written retelling strategy and the control group who did not use written retelling strategy. Finally, the research data show that t observations = 3,590 and is included in the category of high impact. Furthermore, t observation T Table consult with a significance level of 5% = 2.010 and 1% = 2,682, the data states that t observations greater than the T Table, this could mean that Hi is received. And could mean that there is a positive and significant influence between experiment class and class control on the use of written retelling strategy at second grade of Senior High School  Kartikatama Metro.

In this article we begin to map the field of Men and Masculinities Studies by examining 20 years of publications in the journal of Men and Masculinities. We conduct a content analysis of 458 articles and 2115 keywords from 1998 to 2017. Our findings indicate similar numbers of women and men published sole-authored articles. The most prevalent themes among published articles were related to theory, sexualities, and family. Furthermore, non-English speaking regions in the world are under-represented compared to English speaking regions. We hope that our discussion of these, and other findings, will help (re)shape the field and the journal of Men and Masculinities into a more diverse and inclusive academic space.

This study focused on the anxiety and performance of the students in learning English specifically in speaking. It sought to find out anxieties and its causes that affect their English performance in terms of inter-language phonology, grammar and meaning system. The study covered the use of Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale (FLCAS) developed by Horwitz et al. (1986) that measure the English learners’ anxiety levels while learning English in the classroom. The respondents of the study were the selected Grade 12 senior high school students from the selected public schools in Maguindanao Division, Philippines. Descriptive-correlational survey method was used in the study. The findings show that English language speaking anxiety does exist among Senior High School students in Maguindanao Division and their level of anxiety in learning English is high. It is further concluded that students’ anxiety levels in speaking English in terms of inter-language phonology, inter-language grammar and inter-language meaning system contributed to students’ performance in learning in English.

This research aimed to examine positive behavioral support by teacher had been trained to reduce off-task behavior students. The participants of students was second grade of senior high school at Banjarmasin. The reason for using this design was to identifiying behavior target repeatedly with a certain time period. The instruments was be used to take data from observation form positive behavioral support and off-task behavior. The result ofanalysis data was by using visual analysis and qualitative analysis. From two of analysis indicated that there was different between before and after positive behavioral support implemented by teacher and off-task behavior of two students were reduced into lower frequency.

Learning English nowadays is a process of giving learners not just skills its also an innovative learning technique, and creative ways are needed as well. The  Information Communication Technology (ICT) device such as social media, i.e., Line provides students to explore more in learning English. This research aimed at proving social media such as Line today can be used as virtual support for English language Teaching (ELT) process of writing news item in senior high school. This descriptive qualitative research was conducted on classroom during the subject news item. In this study, the research belongs to the interpretivism paradigm or related to the explaining or understanding the meaning of a sentence or passage. The result of this research is using a virtual or electronic device not only could help students as a learner but the essential things in learning process namely teachers also need virtual to support teaching process and even virtual assessment help teachers and even students to develop learning process especially by using Line apps for writing news item.
