The aim of this research is to evaluate the effect of distiller dried grain (DDG) of rice husk in quail feed which effectively reduces important chemical elements in feces. The results showed that administration of DDG influenced the absorption of nutrients carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus and calsium in the quail intestine. Substitution of 10% DDG proportion in quail formulation not significantly (P>0.05) effect on carbon content in feces. Carbon content infeces of quail at proportion of 20% DDG were significantly (P<0.01) higher than 10%. Nitrogen content in feces of quail at proportion of 20% DDG significant (P<0.05) higher than both 10 and 0%.Futhermore nitrogen content in quail feces at 10% DDG significant (P<0.05) higher than 0%. Phosphorus content in feces quails at proportion of 10 and 20% DDG significantly (P<0.05) lower than 0%. Calcium content in quail feces at 10% and 0% not significant (P>0.05) but both were significantly (P<0.05) lower than 20%. The results of this study can be concluded that the substitution of 10% DDG of rice husk in quail feed formulations can increase absorption of phosphorus but decreases the absorption of carbon, nitrogen and calcium Keyword: chemical elements, distillater dried grain, feces, quail

In an attempt to elucidate the increase of growth promotion of tissue cultures by extracts obtained from tissues chilled before extraction, determinations of nitrogen content were made on (a) fresh, and chilled chick embryos, (b) extracts prepared from fresh and chilled chick embryos, (c) fresh and chilled human placenta, (d) extracts prepared from fresh and chilled human placenta. There was no difference in dry weight, nitrogen content, phosphorus content, and nitrogen: phosphorus ratio between chilled and fresh chick embryos and chilled and fresh human placenta. There was, however, a significant difference in the nitrogen content of the extracts prepared from fresh and from chilled tissues, It is suggested that chilling of tissues for 7 days at + 4 °C. prior to extraction may render the cells more easily destructible during extraction, and thus supply a better yield of nutritive substances.

The respiration rates and tissue contents of nitrogen, phosphorus, and titratable acidity were determined for apple fruit from trees receiving differential fertilizer treatments U, N, P, NP, and NPK (U, no fertilizer; N, 2 lb ammonium sulphate; P, 4 1b superphosphate; and K, 1 Ib potassium sulphate, per tree per year). The results obtained (expressed on a dry weight basis) are summarized as follows: Respiration rate: N > NP = NPK = U > P. Total nitrogen content: NPK > NP = N > U = P. Ethanol-insoluble nitrogen content: NPK = NP = N > U = P. Ethanol-soluble nitrogen content: NPK > NP = N > U = P. Phosphorus content : P > NP = NPK > U > N. Titratable acidity content: NPK > N > NP = U > P. The incidence of internal breakdown in stored fruit from these treatments has positively correlated with respiration rate per cell and negatively correlated with phosphorus content. Phosphorus content was negatively correlated with cell volume and respiration rate. Mechanisms by which phosphorus content might regulate the incidence of internal breakdown are discussed.

Milk which has been heated to temperatures varying from 105–209° F. for half an hour differs from raw milk in its reaction to rennet in all cases. There is no change in the diffusibility of the nitrogenous substances in milk after heating to temperatures varying from 105–209° F. for half an hour.Heating to 175° F. and above for half an hour appears to reduce the diffusibility of the phosphorus content of milk.Heating to 125° F. and above for half an hour causes marked diminution in the diffusibility of the calcium content of milk.

This study aims to determine the best level of administration of dragon fruit stem waste on the quality of cow feces compost. The design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 replications. The treatments consisted of P0 = cow feces 97.5% + EM4 2.5%, P1 = cow feces 77.5% + dragon fruit stem waste 20% + EM4 2.5%, P2 = cow feces 67.5% + waste dragon fruit stem 30% + EM4 2.5%, P3 = cow feces 57.5% + dragon fruit stem waste 40% + EM4 2.5, P4 = cow feces 47.5% + dragon fruit stem waste 50% + EM4 2.5%. The observed variables were color, odor, texture, temperature, pH, nitrogen, carbon, phosphorus, potassium and C/N ratio. The results showed that the colors produced in the treatment were P0 (100% black), P1 (100% black), P2 (100% black), P3 (50% black chocolate and 50% brown), P4 (100% chocolate). The odor produced in the treatment of P0 (100% soil), P1 (75% soil and 25% weathered), P2 (50% weathered and 50% weathered), P3 (100% weathered), P4 (100% weathered). The resulting texture in the treatment of P0 (100% crumb), P1 (100% crumb), P2 (100% crumb), P3 (50% crumb and 50% coarse), P4 (75% coarse and 25% crumb), pH value in treatment P0 (7.23%). The addition of dragon fruit stem waste had a very significant effect (P<0.01) on the content of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and C/N. The highest nitrogen content was at P2 (1.60%) and the lowest was at P0 (1.31%), the highest phosphorus content was at P4 (0.31%) and the lowest was at P0 (0.18%), the highest potassium content was found in at P3 (1.16%) and the lowest at P0 (0.44%), the highest C/N content was at P0 (22.25%) and the lowest was at P3 (16.75%). Meanwhile, the carbon content had no significant effect (P>0.05). From the results of this study, it can be concluded that the best compost quality results were obtained in treatment (P3), on the content of carbon, potassium and C/N. Because it is based on the standard range of compost quality (SNI 19-7030-2004).

Abstract. The aim of the study was to assess the influence of different fertilizer doses on the content of macroelements (nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium) in dry biomass and grain of maize during the 2016 – 2018 period. A field experiment with fertilization of maize was carried out on Alluvial-meadow soil (Fluvisol) in the region of Tsalapitsa village, near Plovdiv. Three variants of mineral fertilization were studied V2 (N15P10K0), V3 (N20P15K0) and V4 (N25P20K0), and a control variant V1 (N0P0K0) – without fertilization. It was established that N% content in maize dry biomass was affected significantly by the variants of fertilization (18% of the variance). Significant differences (P≤0.05) between the control variant and all the variants of fertilization were established. Increasing the fertilizer dose, nitrogen content in dry biomass increased, too. The highest was the average content of nitrogen in maize leaves (0.94%), followed by the cobs (0.71%) and the lowest was the content in the stems (0.58%). Phosphorus and potassium content of dry biomass were affected significantly by the year of the study (10% and 9% of the variance, respectively). At the 7-8th leaf growth stage of maize, the highest nutrients content (N, P, K) in dry biomass were reported. With aging of plants the nutrient content in their biomass decreased. Nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium content in maize grain was significantly affected by the year of the experiment. Mineral fertilization had impact mostly on the nitrogen content of the grain, which was the highest in V3 variant, accepted as optimal – 0.66% on average.

The green macroalga Ulva prolifera has a number of variants, some of which are asexual (independent from sexual variants). Although it has been harvested for food, the yield is decreasing. To meet market demand, developing elite cultivars is required. The present study investigated the genetic stability of asexual variants, genotype (hsp90 gene sequences) and phenotype variations across a temperature gradient (10–30 °C) in an apomictic population. Asexual variants were collected from six localities in Japan and were isolated as an unialgal strain. The hsp90 gene sequences of six strains were different and each strain included multiple distinct alleles, suggesting that the strains were diploid and heterozygous. The responses of growth and sporulation versus temperature differed among strains. Differences in thermosensitivity among strains could be interpreted as the result of evolution and processes of adaptation to site-specific environmental conditions. Although carbon content did not differ among strains and cultivation temperatures, nitrogen content tended to increase at higher temperatures and there were differences among strains. A wide variety of asexual variants stably reproducing clonally would be advantageous in selecting elite cultivars for long-term cultivation. Using asexual variants as available resources for elite cultivars provides potential support for increasing the productivity of U. prolifera.

Phenotypic plasticity among natural plant populations is a species-specific ecological phenomenon of paramount importance that depends on their life forms, development stages, as well as environmental factors. While this phenomenon is broadly understood, it has hardly been observed in nature. This study aimed at understanding phenotypic plasticity and ecological adaptability in three shrubs (Salix etosia, Rubus setchuenensis, and Hydrangea aspera) affected by potential environmental variables after deforesting in sparse Larix spp. forest and tall shrub mixed secondary forests. Soil organic carbon content, total nitrogen content, and available nitrogen content were greater outside the forests, contrary to other measured factors whose availability was higher in the forest interiors. In case of leaf traits and stoichiometric indicators, there were significant interactions of leaf area (LA), leaf dry matter (DW), specific leaf area (SLA), and leaf phosphorus content (LPC) between shrub species and heterogeneous environments (P < 0.05) but not for leaf C/N, N/P, and C/P. Principal components analysis (PCA) indicated that soil temperature, pH value, soil carbon content, soil nitrogen content, and MBC and MBN mainly constituted the first component. Summarized results indicated that TB and leaf C/P of S. etosia were significantly correlated with three principal components, but only marginal significant correlations existed between R/S and relevant components. SLA and R/S of R. setchuenensis had marginal significant relationships with independent variables. Both SLA and TB of H. aspera were significantly correlated with three principal components. Based on the pooled values of leaf functional traits and leaf stoichiometric indicators, R. setchuenensis (vining type) had better leaf traits plasticity to adapt to a heterogeneous environment. In descending order, the ranks of biomass allocation plasticity index of three shrubs were H. aspera (bunch type), R. setchuenensis (vining type), and S. etosia (erect type). The highest integrated plasticity values of leaf traits and biomass allocation was observed in H. aspera (bunch type), followed by R. setchuenensis, and by S. etosia with less adaptive plasticity in heterogeneous environments.
