The article deals with the peculiarities of the English loans use in the modern Ukrainian youth slang. The tendencies of the Ukrainian language development at the beginning of the XXI century, the role of the English loanwords in the process of language globalisation are analysed. Changes in any language are activated by social processes. Modern conditions of the society development are a potential catalyst for the natural language changes, which accelerate their dynamics and make them more significant and noticeable. The youth slang is a certain language layer, which reflects its innovations. The article represents a comprehensive description of the youth slang, as one of the subsystems of the modern Ukrainian languge, the reasons of its occurrence and use. The youth slang is an integral part of any language that is considered to be more comprehensive and up-to-date. The paper presents the results of sociolinguistic research in order to identify the pecularities of the loanwords use. Fifty young people at the age of 16-23 have taken part in the experiment to determine the tendency of the English loanwords use. They have participated in a survey, where they had to determine the frequency of the English loanwords use, which have and do not have one-word equivalents in the Ukrainian language. The results have shown that the most part of the respondents use loanwords in their speech. It can be explained by linguistic and extralinguistic factors. The main hypothesis is the statement about the internationalisation of the English language in the modern language space. The results of the study have confirmed this position. The English loanwords are very popular with the youth. Most of them do not have the one-word Ukrainian equivalents and their use can be explained by the factor of language resources economy. However the significant tendency is that the English loanwords are frequently used in the Ukrainian slang. This process is connected with the phenomena of the English language globalisation.

In the context of an increasingly pluralist and in some ways troubled society, work was undertaken to investigate the role of formal education and non-educational organisations in building good citizenship in girls and young women (9-19 years old). Different stages in the developmental process are identified, and the paper describes a number of ways in which experiential and attitudinal information was obtained from the range of respondents: these included a Citizen's Forum and quantitative omnibus research. Methodologies to involve the young people in focused and relevant debate during the one-day Forum were developed and are discussed.

This chapter assesses Liat Steir-Livny's Remaking Holocaust Memory (2019). This book is the first comprehensive English-language study of the Israeli Third-Generation engagement with the history of the Shoah in documentary films. In analyzing “how Third-Generation documentaries provide new ideas and concepts to commemorate and preserve the memory for future generations,” Steir-Livny contrasts Third-Generation documentary films with the works of second-generation directors and explores an extensive number of films in five key areas. These key areas include the role of gender; the changing attitudes toward Germany; the use and exploration of historical film footage in Third-Generation documentary films; the function of testimonies that feature in Third-Generation documentaries “in more complex ways”; and the representation of perpetrators and bystanders in Third-Generation films. Throughout her study, Steir-Livny discusses the documentaries against the background of documentary film theories, on the one hand, and Israeli/Zionist Holocaust memory, on the other.

The role of journalism and the media in forming the world of everyday life has been viewed as a key one for quite a long period of human history. Moreover, in the context of digitalization and mediatization of every social reality, it is becoming even more important. The integrative nature of the modern media provides for an environment where interaction between journalism, the media and their audiences has a crucial impact on all social phenomena, on the life of every person and of the society in general. The article states that, in the context of media digitalization, the world of everyday life is intensively mediatized and undergoes radical changes, which makes it a relevant object of media studies. The authors emphasize the great significance of the media in social construction processes that are based on fast information exchange and the synchronous dynamics of events in the world of everyday life. They also underline the relevance of studying both journalism and media processes as integral parts the world of everyday life, which features continuous variability of social realities and their newsworthiness. In today’s society, contradictions between the opportunities offered by digitalization and mediatization of social realities on the one hand, and the limited practical usage of these opportunities on the other, are aggravating. Therefore, it is necessary to reassess the functions of journalism in optimizing the world of everyday life, and correlate the renewed understanding of these functions to that of journalists as key agents that provide informational support and coverage of all social processes.

Настоящая статья посвящена исследованию проблемы перевода англоязычного заголовка на русский язык с целью выявления его особенностей и привлекаемых переводческих приемов. Авторами подчеркивается актуальность проведенного исследования ввиду растущей потребности быстрого и качественного перевода публицистических текстов и собственно заголовков как ключевого элемента публикации. В работе приводятся определения понятия «заголовок»; выделяются его функции; подчеркивается противоречивый характер заголовка: он может выступать как самостоятельная речевая единица и как равноправный элемент произведения; раскрываются особенности англоязычного заголовка, а также особенности газетно-информационного стиля современного английского языка. Авторы подробно рассматривают переводческие трансформации, привлекаемые для перевода англоязычных заголовков на русский язык, на примере заголовков периодических изданий Великобритании и США. На основе сравнительно-сопоставительного анализа текстов оригинала и перевода авторам удалось выявить лексические, грамматические и стилистические особенности, используемые в англоязычных газетных изданиях. В статье отмечается ключевая роль заголовка в произведении, а также факт особой ответственности в части перевода данного элемента произведения, поскольку именно корректно составленный и переведенный заголовок обеспечивает привлекательность и конкурентоспособность публикации в целом. The article is devoted to the problem of translation of English headlines into Russian to identify headline peculiarities and employed translation shifts. The authors stress the relevance of the conducted study due to the growing need for quick and high quality translation of social-political texts and headlines playing a key role in them. The paper provides a number of definitions for the term «headline»; points out the functions of the headline; stresses the controversial character of the headline: on the one hand, it is an independent speech unit, and on the other hand, it can be treated as an equal element of a text; identifies the peculiarities of English headlines as well as the peculiarities of the newspaper style of the modern English language. The authors look into the translation transformations employed when translating English headlines into Russian as exemplified by the British and American periodicals. Basing on the comparative analysis of the source texts and translations, the authors managed to identify some lexical, grammar, and stylistic peculiarities employed in the English newspapers. The article also notes the key role of the headline and the significance of its translation since it is a correctly composed and then translated headline which provides the attractiveness and competitiveness of a published work.

The article deals with the analysis of parents’ role in young people’s professional choice. The main aspects of this impact, traditionally considered in literature on these kinds of problems, have been mentioned in this article. A typology of interaction between parents and children in the process of professional choice has been given, based on this analysis. Moreover, the factors, which influenced the change of parents’ role in the professional choice of modern youth, have been considered in this article. These factors have led, on the one hand, to the increase of young people’s independence in choosing professions, which are quite new on the modern labour market and parents do not always know these professions. In addition, on the other hand, these factors have led to the decrease of the same independence, caused by the increase in the number of those who study on the contract basis, which is financially supported by parents. Based on this analysis, contradictions in interaction between parents and children in the process of professional choice have been found.

Abstract Current understanding of second language acquisition processes is based on the position that second language learners rely and depend on their L1 as well as on all of their language-related experience. This paper presents results of a questionnaire study aimed to explore Croatian EFL instructors’ beliefs about the role of L1 in English language development and formal instruction. Data was further analysed in order to explore variables most likely to impact instructors’ belief systems (participants’ age and academic degree, students’ language level, learning setting). The findings point to a lack of professional consensus with regard to L1 use which is discussed and followed by practical implications.

This paper develops the theme of youth education and training by following at least three fields of analysis, which are mutually interrelated. The training process, the role of educational agencies, and pedagogy will be investigated in light of a new interpretation of the image of young people and of the one of youth that is free from rhetoric and clichés. A close look will be taken to the characteristics of current anthropology trends, focusing on the impact that such categories as "fear" and "risk" exert on training processes. The ultimate aim of this investigation will be to outline the main traits of youth crisis from a pedagogical perspective in terms of a crisis of personal development and human fulfilment, which is even more important than professional fulfilment, and of the transformations affecting rational and non-rational dimensions of the person. By referring to the social condition and to the range of interpretive paradigms inherent in current epistemologies, the paper is aimedto findthe source of the demand that young people directly and indirectly express today also through non-verbal languages, alternative "signs" and "images" that do not fall within the traditional pedagogical canon. The function of pedagogy will therefore be redefined both in theory and in practice on the basis of the need to understand the real human reality, thus interpreting its needs. At the same time, the educational operariwill be re-thought, so as to ensure that in today's reflective democracies the purpose regarded by Raffaele Laporta as the "educational absolute" is achieved. This coincides with authentic freedom, with the most accomplished form of humanization and with the highest level of personal existence, identified as essential conditions for the freedom of learning that corresponds to the freedom of life.

Parents often turn to educators and healthcare professionals for advice on how to best support their child’s language development. These professionals frequently suggest implementing the ‘one-parent–one-language’ approach to ensure consistent exposure to both languages. The goal of this study was to understand how language exposure influences the receptive vocabulary development of simultaneous bilingual children. To this end, we targeted nine German–French children growing up in bilingual families. Their exposure to each language within and outside the home was measured, as were their receptive vocabulary abilities in German and French. The results indicate that children are receiving imbalanced exposure to each language. This imbalance is leading to a slowed development of the receptive vocabulary in the minority language, while the majority language is keeping pace with monolingual peers. The one-parent–one-language approach does not appear to support the development of both of the child’s languages in the context described in the present study. Bilingual families may need to consider other options for supporting the bilingual language development of their children. As professionals, we need to provide parents with advice that is based on available data and that is flexible with regards to the current and future needs of the child and his family.

The study deals with the subject of threats to the Saudis youth thinking and the good ways to overcome them. The study used the analytical descriptive method, which is the most appropriate one for the nature of this study. The study showed the importance of young people to the nations, and explained that intellectual guidance influences youth thinking. It also mentioned that Westernization was a prime objective of the Western intellectual invasion, where he seeks to distract youth and others from their Islamic beliefs, and impose western values and convictions, which not serve their religion or their homelands, and mentioned that the most threatening is technical threat at this time. It also explains the most important social threats that affect the upbringing of young people such as family, friends and media. The study concluded to show how to face these threats, and what is the appropriate mechanism to overcome them and reduce the impact, and even used positively to young people from harm. And that social media is a double-weapon. It can play a positive role in influencing young people's thinking on the one hand, and it can have a negative impact on young people's thinking on the other hand. We must concentrate on the role of institutions of socialization in forming the personality of the individual from their childhood until their youth, so the institutions of socialization should play effective positive role.

At the present time, in the socio-cultural space, there are many communities and subcultural movements attractive to young people and aimed at young people. Subcultural diversity, which constitutes the integrity of society’s culture, acts as a space for the formation of identification models and an alternative to cultural unification, which is increasingly embracing the world.Diversity is a source of social development and, under the conditions of cardinal cultural and civilizational changes, requires scientific understanding to justify the instruments of its support, on the one hand. On the other hand, it needs the development of practical recommendations and a system of measures for effective interaction of the state with subcultural communities.Male unions have an important role and active development in the life of society and in the subcultural environment. Historically representing a fundamental socio-cultural element of social development, they occupied a social niche and began to play an essential role in society in the 21st century.It is relevant to study the role of male unions in modern society because of the following factors: 1) the institution of male unions of ancient tribes, with their initiation rites, has acquired a new form and content and still exists, 2) the experience of studying the role of male unions demonstrates that they are included in a complex system of social and spiritual ties and have made a significant contribution to the formation of certain structures of society, once becoming a prototype of the modern armed forces, 3) currently possessing a large network of interpersonal closed ties, including those at the international level, and a well-established collective identity, male unions influence the functioning of the social system and its cultural and spiritual content.The article aims to describe the subculture of male unions represented by motorcycle clubs, as well as to determine the methodological problems associated with the study of motorcycle subculture as a socio-cultural component of society.The novelty of the article is in the generalization of life regularities of modern male unions as traditional socio-cultural institutions. The emergence of such a phenomenon makes it important to study the possible prospects for male unions’ development, their role and place in society, and interaction with them.
