The objectives of this research are to: (1) reveal the teacher-students’ interaction patterns applied between teacher and students during teaching and learning process in SMP Muhammadiyah Imogiri., and (2) describe the interactional features used by the teacher related to the pedagogic goals during teaching learning process SMP Muhammadiyah Imogiri. This research belongs to discourse analysis which aims at describing conversation and interaction of teacher-students during English teaching learning process in the eighth grade of SMP Muhammadiyah Imogiri. The data were collected through observation and were analyzed using the theory of IRF exchange structure and the SETT Framework. The result showed there were 30 patterns of interaction of 30 exchange structures used in seven types of transaction. The transactions greeting session, introduction, re-checking session, explaining session, instruction session, practicing session, note taking session. There were 12 types of interactional features used by the teacher with the total number of 135. It appears the display question interactional feature plays an important role in this case. Through display question, the teacher raises up the students’ desire to learn and participate in the teaching learning process. The teacher ‘24’ form-focused on feedback interactional features backs up the students when they did a mistake. That is a good unity to build the students competencies.

The main purpose of teaching learning English in Junior High School to develop the students’ competence and knowledge in four language skills, Speaking, Reading, Listening and Writing. One of the difficult skills is writing. In this research are describe how are the uses, problems, and solutions of the use of Literacy Approach to Teach Writing of Descriptive Text At The Seventh Grade Students of SMPN 1 Ngebel.  Literacy approach is one of the approaches used to teach writing especially in descriptive text because Literacy approach is the ability to read and write. There are some step of teaching writing, they are planning, composing, and revising. This research uses descriptive qualitative research. Participant/Informant of the research are the English teacher and the seventh grade students of SMPN I Ngebel Ponorogo. This research uses purposive sampling technique. The techniques which are used to collect the data are observation, interview, and documentation. Techniques of the data analysis are data reduction, data display and drawing conclusions. The result of the analyzing data indicates that the uses of literacy approach in teaching writing of descriptive text are divided into two steps. The first is preparation steps and the second is learning process. The learning process uses literacy approach includes introduce and giving explanation the descriptive text, give the modal of the descriptive text and have text to analyze, make group work to discussion the students’ ideas, give the chance to make students’ own product and also checking the students’ understanding about the material. Besides, the problem of the use literacy approach in writing of descriptive text are sometimes the students are noisy in the classroom and their vocabulary are still low. The students feel afraid to deliver their opinion and ideas in teaching and learning process. The solution of the use literacy approach in writing of descriptive are the students must make group work of the students’ worksheet, Teacher controls the students and gives scores for students.

This study are focused in : (1) how the context of the Online teaching learning process program on Covid-19 outbreak. (2) how the input of the Online teaching learning process program on Covid-19 to the success program, (3) how far the challenge and the opportunities of the Online teaching learning process program on Covid-19 pandemic. The objects of this study were: the English teacher in government’ schools and private school of junior high school and senior high school, and the students. The data were obtained from interview, classroom observation, and document analysis. Those data were analyzed by using Context, Input, Process, Product (CIPP) Model by Kellaghan and Stufflebeam (2003). The findings revealed some facts. First, in the context evaluation, it can be concluded that the online teaching and learning program are relevant and formulated in order to meet the students’ needs on this pandemic. Second, in term of input evaluation, the teacher did not fulfill the requirements of a qualified teacher yet. Therefore, this pandemic has become a challenge for educators especially for English teachers and students in higher education level. It impacted classrooms to be hardly. Here, the researcher advice the government to conduct a training and workshop in order to improve the quality and the professionalism.

Progress in information and technology simultaneously affect patterns of interaction and communication systems in education and learning. The availability of increasingly complex communication devices, is so simple that it is increasingly easy to use. Communication is a bridge to establish interactions between individuals and groups, sending messages between individuals and groups can be received directly without time difference even though far apart. The learning process as an interaction and communication is directed to help develop all the potential, skills, positive characteristics possessed by students. Learning interaction patterns and criteria can be done with basic patterns of interaction, interaction centered on content, interaction centered on the teacher, interaction centered on students, communication learning is very important in order to determine the success of education. The learning achievements of each graduate are also influenced by patterns of interaction and communication systems applied by educators. The teaching and learning process, mostly occurs because of the communication process, both which takes place intrapersonal and interpersonal. Progress an educational technology also results in the increasingly available educational devices based on optic / teleconference sources and learning materials available on the internet, media and learning tools based on visual and audio visual. Learning technology will lead to curriculum improvement, improvement of teacher / lecturer resources, improvement of graduate quality, absorption of graduates and satisfaction of alumni users.  Abstrak Kemajuan informasi dan teknologi secara simultan sudah mempengaruhi pola interaksi dan sistem komunikasi pendidikan dan pembelajaran. Ketersediaan perangkat komunikasi yang semakin kompleks, sangat sederhana sehingga semakin mudah digunakan. Komunikasi merupakan jembatan untuk menjalin interaksi antara individu dan kelompok, pengiriman pesan antar individu dan kelompok dapat diterima secara langsung tanpa perbedaan waktu meskipun tempat berjauhan. Proses pembelajaran sebagai interkasi dan komunikasi diarahkan untuk membantu mengembangkan semua potensi, kecakapan, karakteristik positif yang dimiliki oleh peserta didik. Pola dan kriteria interaksi pembelajaran dapat dilakukan dengan pola dasar interaksi, interaksi berpusat pada isi, interaksi berpusat pada guru, interaksi berpusat pada siswa, komunikasi pembelajaran sangat penting dalam rangka menentukan keberhasilan pendidikan. Capaian pembelajaran setiap lulusan dipengaruhi pula oleh pola interaksi dan sistem komunikasi yang diterapkan oleh tenaga pendidik. Dalam proses belajar mengajarnya, sebagian besar terjadi karena proses komunikasi, baik yang berlangsung secara intrapersona maupun secara antarpersona. Kemajuan teknologi pendidikan juga berakibat pada semakin tersedianya perangkat pendidikan yang berbasis optic/teleconference sumber dan bahan belajar yang tersedia di intenet, media dan perangkat pembelajaran yang berbasis visual dan audio visual. Teknologi pembelajaran akan bermuara pada perbaikan kurikulum, peningkatan sumberdaya guru/dosen, peningkatakan mutu lulusan, daya serap lulusan dan kepuasan pengguna alumni.

The media if used in the educational setting will complement the teaching-learning process. It will make the English language teaching better and more effective, and will also ‘enhance the students’ ability and to attract students’ attention in order to understand and experiment with the language. This research aims at: (1) describing how Flash Media used in teaching and learning of reading, (2) describing the other media that are used to support Flash Media in teaching and learning of reading, and (3) describing the difficulties of implementing Macro Media Flash Player in teaching and learning of reading. This research applies a case study method as one of qualitative research. The subject of the research were the English teacher and students on the ninth grade of one junior high school in Wonogiri. The data were collected through non-participant observation, interview, and documentation. In analyzing the data, the researcher used interactive model of analysis data by Miles and Huberman. The findings of the research show that the implementation of the Macromedia Flash Player has shown positive relation in supporting teaching and learning process. The other supporting media were also play the role to complete the teaching and learning experiences. It is hoped that the result can encourage English teachers to explore more medium and implement it in teaching and learning.

In teaching learning process at SMP Darulmuta'alimin Tanah Merah Aceh Singkil, code switching and code mixing are useful in some events. This does not only happen to students, but also teachers who have the same background (mother tongue) as students. A teacher at SMP Darulmuta'alimin Tanah Merah Aceh Singkil uses the local language or mother tongues so that the students are being taught understand. In accordance with the explanation of Article 36, Chapter XV, of the 1945 Constitution, it can be seen that the language of instruction is used in the teaching and learning process in the Indonesian class. This type of research is qualitative analytical descriptive, which seeks to describe the characteristics of the data in accordance with the actual situation. The description is described as it is systematically, factually, and accurately regarding the data and characteristics of the phenomena under study. The data shows that the code switching event in Indonesian language learning in grade VII-A SMP Darulmuta'alimin Tanah Merah Aceh Singkil, which is from the Singkil language to Indonesian. Since the beginning of the conversation in the learning process, the teacher and students communicate using Singkil and the end of their conversation using Indonesian.

This study deals with developing the writing paragraph through quickwriting for junior high school at smp swasta pahlawan nasional. The objectives of this study were to find out to improve the students’ ability in writing paragraph of grade VIII students by using quickwriting strategy. Data data of the research was taken from the secondary grade of Junior High School Students at SMP Swasta Pahlawan Nasional Medan, which is taken from one class, contain 33 student. The data in this research collected by using interview and questionnaire. The interview and questionnaire will be given to collect the students’ need, problem and interesting in learning English, particularly in writing and using quick writing in teaching and learning.  In the teaching-learning process the teacher should prepare before conducting the lesson. The first is classroom procedures in teaching-learning process. Classroom procedures used by English teacher are opening, quickwriting, main activities (exploration-elaboration-confirmation), closing. There are some problems faced in the teaching-learning process. The problems faced are problem in developing idea, organizing idea, difficulties in vocabulary, tenses, and grammar, different capability of the students, and limited time. The consequently, the teacher should give solutions to cope the problems faced in teaching-learning process. So, the teacher should be creative to minimize the problem faced in teaching-learning process in order to make the students enjoy with the materials and develop student’s ability. Keywords : writing paragraph, quickwriting

The successfullness of teaching-learning process is highly influenced by the patterns of interactions appeared in the classroom activities. Through this case study, the purpose of this paper is to explore the patterns of interaction during teaching and learning proccess. Two accellerated classes were observed and recorded to gain the data. The findings revealed that the patterns of interaction emerged in the first class were group work, choral responses, closed-ended teacher questioning (IRF), individual work, student initiates-teacher answers, open-ended teacher questioning, and collaboration. Meanwhile, the patterns of interaction in the second class showed closed-ended teacher questioning (IRF), open-ended teacher questioning, choral responses, student initiates-teacher answers, group work, and individual work pattern. The patterns of interaction were produced from teacher and student(s) and/or student(s) and student(s) in relation to the teacher talk and the students talk categories used during learning activities. These patterns were produced constantly. They are to show that the teaching-learning process was not always dominated by the teacher. Most students actively participate as well in any classroom activity. Thus, these patterns absolutely increase the students talk and students’ participation in the class. It is necessary for teachers to reorganize the active activities which might foster more interaction in the classroom.Key Words: EFL Classroom, patterns of interaction, teaching-learning process.

<p>The purpose of this research is to know the implementation of Picture Word Inductive Model and also to know the advantages and disadvantages of Picture Word Inductive Model in teaching writing. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The population of this research is the seven grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Maospati. The sample of this research is the students of class 7i that consists of 30 students, with the technique of sampling using purposive sampling. The data collections are gotten from observation, interview and documentation. In analysing the data, the researcher uses (1) reducing data, (2) displaying data, and (3) conclusion or verification. The result of the analysis shows that: in applying the Picture Word Inductive Model, the teacher gives explanation about descriptive text and the definition of Picture word inductive model and give example by showing the pictures. Before the teacher asked the students to write it by themselves, the teacher gives example how to write based on the picture. The advantages of the implementation of Picture word inductive model are the students are active, enjoy, have good enthusiasm in the teaching and learning process and the students can write easily because they have found the word in the picture. The implementation of PWIM also helps to increase students’ ability in writing skill. The disadvantages of this research are the students have difficulty in making sentences and it needs more time to teach writing using that strategy in teaching learning process. Based on the result of the research, the researcher gives suggestions to the teacher, students and readers. The teachers should be creative to teach the students, so the lesson will be more interesting.</p>

Abstract Many instructional strategies play an important role in science learning, especially for cooperative learning. This research study is to observe and analyze how the student cooperates in teaching and learning of science in online learning. This research used qualitative research methods, and observation and interviews as a tool to collect the data. The observations were conducted at an international junior high school in Kota Bandung, included 15 female students and 1 teacher as participants. Instruments of research that we used are the rubric of the teaching-learning process, the rubric of student activity, and the rubric of the cooperative learning model. From the data analysis, the learning model used in this online class meeting is proper enough for it is fulfilled the syntax of cooperative learning. So Cooperative learning models can be a good way to teach much content at a time effectively. However, managing students to be more active is needed in the learning process.
