Motivation is an inner condition that guides human behaviors towards a certain target. Motivation for learning is massively important, because the greater motivation that they have gained, the greater the learning outcomes of the learners. This research was done in the sense of low interaction in the classroom as learners seldom read a book, especially before attending to the lesson. The purpose of this research was therefore to discover the motivation of the students in reading activity to enrich the classroom interaction in learning English as a foreign language (EFL). The researcher used descriptive qualitative approach. Firstly, the study, first, the researcher looked for the questionnaire of motivation to read. Secondly, the researcher selected the constructs or in this term, the questions categories to be used in this study. Thirdly, the researcher spread the selected questions as a questionnaire to the students of fifth semester of English Department in Tidar University. Then, after the researcher had finished collecting the data, the researcher analyzed the data acquired by demonstrating the motivation of the students to read the literature review. Eventually, the researcher reported the results on the basis of the study evidence.

Literacy is a crucial topic for most countries around the globe. As in Indonesia, literacy becomes a major issue since most of young Indonesian people decrease their tendency of reading books in their free time. Reading, either it is extensive or intensive ones, is an essential knowledge for everyone. Fictions are needed to be explored for better literacy. As English as a Foreign Language (EFL) students, English fiction is one of a good source to improve students ability in using English. By reading more fictions, EFL students can gain many benefits directly or indirectly to their English, and it can be seen easily from their fluency by using a special model named Poster Presentation. Furthermore, poster presentation can be used in teaching and learning as variations in reading activity. This research is to explore the use of fiction stories and Poster Presentations for Indonesian EFL students at Lambung Mangkurat University. There were some stages during the Fiction stories and poster presentation project which involved tutoring, group work, and the poster presentation. The students were asked to read short fiction stories, make a summary of it, and finally design the summary into posters. The tutoring part was beneficial to keep students understand the project. The questionnaire by using Likert-scale was distributed which to investigate students’ perception on the use of poster presentation in learning fiction stories. The results showed that the students interpret poster presentation to improve their reading comprehension, communication, cooperation, collaboration, and creativity during the classroom interaction.

This study aimed to find out what category of lecturer talks applied by lecturers in classroom interaction. This study was a descriptive survey. The participants were chosen by using purposive sampling technique where there were four English lecturers who taught at Second Semester Class of English Department of Baturaja University in the academic year of 2016/2017. The data were taken through observation, questionnaire and interview. Camera recorder and checklist were the instruments used in this study. The data were identified by using FLINT (Foreign Language Interaction) system as developed by Moskowitz (1971). The result of the study showed that the total of frequencies the deals with feeling were 9 or 1.6%, praises or encourages were 57 or 9.9%, uses ideas of students were 42 or 7.3%, asks questions were 199 or 34.6%, gives information were 92 or 16%, gives directions were 151 or 26.3% and criticizes student behavior were 25 or 4.3%. In conclusion, the category of lecturer applied by lecturers was asks questions in classroom interaction that the best ways to develop their role as an initiator and strategies that promote interaction in classroom activity. This study aimed to investigate the gender differences in terms of anxiety among Yemeni university EFL learners. It also aimed to investigate the correlation between the level of anxiety and the academic achievement of the students. The participants of this study were 155 students chosen from the population through stratified random sampling. The participants are selected from English Department, Faculty of Arts, Ibb University, Yemen. The data was collected by using a questionnaire adopted from Yassin (2015), and the data was analysed by using 22nd version of the SPSS. The data of the first question was analysed by using T-test and the result of the analysis showed that the females experienced higher level of anxiety than male students, but the difference between both groups is not significant. The second question was analysed by using Pearson Product Moment Correlation and the result showed that there is not significant correlation between the level of anxiety and the academic achievement of the students.

Industrial Revolution (IR) 4.0 has influenced practice of English Foreign Language (EFL) instruction. One of which is through the deployment of Socrative as the technology integration to enhance the students’ skills of listening, reading, writing and speaking. This paper was aimed at elaborating the use of Socrative in English academic reading classrooms done by students in university level. The students’ responses on their experiences when utilizing this application were revealed. The results exemplified that students used Socrative for reading activities. By collecting the students’ opinions on Socrative via a survey, it was found out that the students could enrich their vocabulary because they employed a reading strategy that should be implemented by them, such as noting difficult word(s), and looking for the meaning in dictionary. In another side, the students argued that this online application had a lack of aspect in a reading course. Further, recommendations on the practice of Socrative in EFL classroom are discussed.

With the increasing development of technology, online teaching is more readily accepted as a viable component in teaching and learning. Online and Offline class, particularly in developing countries, in its early stages and not without its challenges. This study exposed 16 EFL students  of university Ibnu Khaldun responses to an online classroom and offline classroom. And investigates common student perceptions of the online lesson as compared with offline lessons to identify the effectivness between online and offline class. The method use data analysis adopted from questionnaires using qualitative (Likert scale questions) and quantitative (open-ended questions) approaches provided data for content analysis to determine common student perception. The result, more students associated in-class lessons. They felt  more interest, due to better understanding, classroom interaction with the lecturer and student, and enjoy during the lesson. cyberbullying phenomenon among EFL students interactive communication somehow an exciting topic to discuss. Seeing foreign language speakers interact and communicate with each other on the internet, this is an interesting linguistic study for review. This present library study tries to explore ten high recognized papers from contemporary studies regarding cyberbullying among students’ interactive communication.  From these ten studies, this ongoing study constructs its perspective in seeing the cyberbullying context. This study uses a library study in qualitative approach and explores ten contemporary research about cyberbullying and came out with a result of present perspective and currently proposed terminology of cyberbullying among EFL bloggers.

Code-switching is a phenomenon studied in sociolinguistics. It exists in multilingual societies like in Indonesia, where people use more than one language to communicate including in classroom interaction, especially in the process of teaching English as a foreign language. This research aimed to find out the types and the functions of code-switching used by English lecturers in teaching English to Non-English Department Students at FKIP of Lambung Mangkurat University in the Academic Year of 2017/2018. This research was conducted through the descriptive-qualitative method. The subjects were the lecturers of English class for Non-English Department Students or Mata Kuliah Dasar Umum (MKDU) Bahasa Inggris Class. The researchers used observations and confirmed the results from the interviews. The data were analyzed by data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing or verification. The research result indicated that in the process of teaching English, the lecturers sometimes switched their languages: English, Bahasa Indonesia, Banjarese, and Arabic. There were three types of code-switching used by the lecturers which were tag-switching, intrasentential-switching, and intersentential switching. While for the function, there were three functions of code-switching used by the lecturers which were topic-switch, affective-function, and repetitive function. In conclusion, the lecturers switched their languages in some types and for various functions depending on the situation of their teaching activity and students’ need

This research focuses on students' English speaking problems, and this research aims to find out the most dominant problem of speaking in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) situation faced by the students of English Departement at Tidar University. The research method used in this research is the qualitative method. The writer uses a questionnaire as a tool for data collection. From the questionnaire, the problems that most dominant faced by the English education students of the English Department at Tidar University is Linguistic problems. Linguistic problems include less grammar, lack of vocabulary, and poor pronunciation. The next is psychological problems include, including lack of self-confidence, anxiety, and shyness. Meanwhile, instructor related problems did not have much effect on speaking problems for the students. In conclusion, Linguistic problems are the most dominant problem faced by the English education students of the English Department at Tidar University.

This study attempts to find out the challenges students' face in learning English as a foreign language when using E-learning system at University of Bisha. It also investigates whether using E-learning is beneficial to EFL students in their learning English to the degree anticipated. There are many challenges face both teachers and students during use E-learning. These challenges include academic, technological; and administrative challenges. The study sample included 36 teaching staff and 261 EFL students at University of Bisha - English department. To collect data required, the researcher developed questionnaires that consist of three domains for both teaching staff and students separately. The study results show that there are no significant differences between EFL students (males and females) of E-learning activities. Therefore, it argued that all domains of teaching staff and students' challenges could not predict academic achievement. The findings reveal that some factors such as academic, administrative, and technical challenges regarding E-learning were the main challenges of E-learning at University of Bisha. The results also show that students aware of the benefits of using E-learning. They perceive themselves as having a highly positive attitude towards E-learning in English. However, the main advantage can be used anywhere, anytime, and the E-learning system can adapt to the aims of improving communication and enriching students' learning experiences

The sudden shift of English language teaching from face-to-face classroom interaction to online learning has resulted in many challenges for EFL students in Ukraine. The aim of the study is to analyze the challenges EFL students at Ukrainian higher educational institutions face under the Covid-19 pandemic and quarantine measures. Mastering a foreign language requires the development of foreign language skills, motivation, self-esteem, emotional stability, and psychological involvement of students in the learning process. There was the survey for English language learners at Ukrainian Universities: Kyiv National University of Trade and Economics Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University, Kyiv National Linguistic University, Taras Shevchenko Chernihiv National University “Chernihiv Collegium.” The study analyzes the responses of 357 students. The researchers surveyed in 2020. The results of the study show that students have psychological challenges in the process of learning foreign languages. They are caused by low self-esteem, demotivation, frustration, fear of failure, the impact of quarantine measures and conditions: lack of face-to-face interaction, pandemic-related stress, anxiety, depression, etc. The author uses the methods of theoretical analysis, synthesis, comparison, classification, and systematization of theoretical and experimental data. The results of this study provide recommendations for EFL teachers to enhance the efficiency of online teaching and learning activities. The study presents some recommendations for EFL teachers to guide their students through online learning.
