Іntroduction: The problem of the formation, preservation and strengthening of students’ health during higher educational period is becoming increasingly relevant. Following factors have a purposeful impact on health and physical development of students: correct organization of physical education process, motivation to study, student’s personality and adaptation process to new educational conditions. The aim: A comparative analysis of assessment of the initial state of student’s health by means of physical development indicators. Materials and methods: For investigation and evaluation of physical development, the generalizing method of observation was used for a group of 600 students aging 18, 19 and 20 years (100 persons in each age group). All students were divided into control and experimental groups by the method of equal distribution of groups. The students from control groups took classes according to traditional educational system, which provided development of only those physical qualities that are necessary for successful assimilation of motor activity techniques. Students from experimental group took classes according to fitness technologies program. Results: The data obtained has shown that men and women from experimental groups during the formative have reliable differences only in body weight and in the index of Erisman. The dynamics of anthropometric indices of students from experimental and control groups depended from the content of educational and extra-curricular physical education classes. Implementation of fitness technologies in physical education process of students from experimental groups contributed to the improvement of functional indicators of both men and women. Following indicators changed: heart rate for 1 min, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, Robinson index, lung life volume, muscle strength of dominant hand. The evaluation of anthropometric and functional indicators also helped to determine indices dynamics of students’ physical development during: force index, vital index, mass-growth index, Stange test, Genci test, Harvard step-test index. Сonclusions: The analysis of physical development of students testifies about imperfection of physical education system, low level of physical preparedness of students and unsatisfactory state of physical culture and health work in higher education institutions.

The article considers philosophers’ and teachers’ scientific views on physical education and its impact on the personality’s all-round development; and formation of physical education as a science. Plato’s, Socrates’s, and Horace’s ideas of the importance of exercise and motor activity in different periods of people’s life have been identified; J. Comenius’s thoughts about the importance of properly selected, dosed physical exercises, their regularity in strengthening the children’s health, about their important function in terms of spiritual and ethical education have been revealed. J. - J. Rousseau’s thoughts on the importance of hardening of the body and senses and the formation of motor skills, moving games and daily walks in physical development; the idea of free upbringing of a comprehensively developed strong, skillful and intelligent personality have been given. J. Locke’s ideas about physical education from the person’s first days of life, about the study of refined manners, ballroom dancing, and other elements of gallantry, which externally distinguish “the noble” from the commoners, have been presented. Georges Demeny's thoughts on the importance of continuity of gymnastic exercises, the use of stretching exercises, relaxation, and movements to music have been revealed. The following ideas have been considered: the contribution to the theory of children’s physical education of such doctors and progressive figures as E. Pokrovskyi and E. Dementiev; Georges Demeny's gymnastic system of physical education with continuous classes, use of stretching exercises, relaxation and movements to music; the close connection of the mental education process with physical exercises of K. Ushynskyi; P. Lesgaft’s theory of physical education, based on the laws of harmony, gradualness and sequence of human development. The four groups of physical exercises and games by P. Lesgaft, and the idea of the folk games educational role have been proposed. The role of a teacher’s word, addressed to the child's mind and including sample mechanical imitation, an inseparable link between mental education and physical exercises, has been stated.

The harmony of the physical body development of human beings and working constantly since antiquity, became part of the educational ideal in Greece (KALOSKAGATHON - Nice man and good) or the Roman baths. (Mens sana in corpore sano - Juvenal). In this study we aimed to accomplish finding harmonious physical development of students in preparatory class at Secondary School No. 16 in Bucharest. Objectives of the study is to determine the factors that influence the physical, cognitive and psycho social development of 6-7 years pupils. The methods used in this study are: the literature, teaching observation, measurement method, statistical and mathematical methods of data processing and interpretation. Observations and measurements carried out proves that the psychological and physical development of students are below the required values corresponding to their age which shows lack of physical activity practice by not participating actively in physical education lessons and the lack of games and recreational activities in free time. In a study conducted we have concluded that the introduction of three hours of physical education, as required by law, it is imperative that all pupils benefit from a harmonious physical development. Moreover families and schools are responsible for pupils' participation in physical activity, especially in the form of age-specific play.

The article discusses and analyzes the dependence of mastering the technique of basketball on motor and mental indicators of students. The main trends in the development of basketball are characterized. It is determined that basketball is one of the main means of developing students' basic motor qualities and intellectual abilities, helps to improve anthropometric indicators, increase efficiency in a wide age range. Active attendance at physical education classes promotes tempering, nurtures agility, clarity and speed of reaction, increases activity, and so on. Full physical development of students is possible only with the integrated use of physical education: natural factors, hygiene measures and exercise. Basketball training enhances the skills of most major movements that have a positive effect on the student's physical development and performance. Basketball creates favorable conditions for nurturing positive moral and willpower qualities of students. It is during the game that students always have the opportunity to test their strength and make sure the actions are successful. A variety of ball actions are used to teach the game of basketball, which provides the necessary physical exertion on all muscle groups. While learning the technique of basketball, it is necessary to take into account the motor and mental characteristics of first-year students. Active attendance at physical education classes promotes tempering, nurtures agility, clarity and speed of reaction, increases activity, and so on. Full physical development of students is possible only with the integrated use of physical education: natural factors, hygiene measures and exercise. Basketball is one of the main means of development for students of basic motor skills and intellectual abilities, contributes to the improvement of anthropometric indicators, increase efficiency in a wide age range.

Sex differences in cardiovascular reactivity to stress are well documented, with some studies showing women having greater heart rate responses than men, and men having greater blood pressure responses than women, while other studies show conflicting evidence. Few studies have attended to the gender relevance of tasks employed in these studies. This study investigated cardiovascular reactivity to two interpersonal stressors consistent with different gender roles to determine whether response differences exist between men and women. A total of 26 men and 31 women were assigned to either a traditional male-oriented task that involved interpersonal conflict (Conflict Task) or a traditional female-oriented task that involved comforting another person (Comfort Task). Results demonstrated that women exhibited greater heart rate reactions than men independent of the task type, and that men did not display a higher reactivity than women on any measure. These findings indicate that sex of participant was more important than gender relevance of the task in eliciting sex differences in cardiovascular responding.

SummaryHeparin cofactor II (HCII) is a thrombin inhibitor present in human plasma whose activity is enhanced by heparin. HCII exhibits important homologies with antithrombin III, the main heparin-enhanced thrombin inhibitor. Cases of recurrent thromboembolism have been recently reported in patients with HCII deficiency. Since the use of oral contraceptives (OC) is associated with an increased risk of thrombosis, the study of the plasma levels of HCII was undertaken in women taking contraceptive pills. Plasma HCII levels were found significantly higher in 62 women taking low-estrogen content OC (1.20 ± 0.28 U/ml) than in 62 age matched women not taking OC (0.94 ± 0.16 U/ml) or in 62 men (0.96 ± 0.19 U/ml). Significant correlations between HCII and fibrinogen levels were reported in the three groups. From the pooled data of the two control groups (men and women not taking OC), the normal range for plasma HCII levels was defined to be between 0.60 and 1.30 U/ml (mean ± 2 SD). Two cases of low HCII levels (<0.60 U/ml) were found in the control groups, but none in the group of women taking OC. It is concluded that the use of oral contraceptives is associated with a rise in HCII levels and that the screening for HCII deficiency has to be performed at distance of any OC therapy.
