This qualittaive research is about flouting maxim in Need for Speed movie. Flouting maxim was an action where the participants disobeyed the rule of cooperative principle in conversation. In this research, the researcher focused his research to analyze flouting maxims in Need for Speed movie and their effects in conversation. The research was conducted by accomodating one theory: flouting maxim by Herbert Paul Grice (1975). Grice’s theory determined flouting maxim as follow: flouting maxim of quantity, flouting maxim of quality, flouting maxim of relevant, flouting maxim of manner. Techniques of data collection: downloading Need for Speed movie, watching Need for Speed flouting maxim utterances. The finding of the data analysis showed that there were fifteen data found in Need for Speed movie. From the data, the researcher found flouting maxim of quality (four data), flouting maxim of quantity (two data), flouting maxim of relevant (seven data), and flouting maxim of manner (two data). In addition, the effects of flouting maxim are angry (five data), disappointed (one data), normal (four data), confusion (one data), offense (one data), surprised (one data), suspicious (one data), and disappointed (one data). The researcher expected the next researchers to conduct analysis on conversational maxim with other objectives of research. And different theories.

ABSTRACTThis research examines violation of maxims of Garfield in Garfield comic strips. The purpose of this research is to find out types of maxims that are violated, describe how maxims are violated, and find out the reason behind the violation in Garfield’s utterances in Garfield comic strips. This research is descriptive qualitative. This research uses Cooperative Principle and Violation Maxim theories by Herbert Paul Grice. The data collection method used is documentation and note-taking. The data analysis method used is interactive model by Miles and Huberman with the cycle: data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing/verifying. The results and discussion obtained is 15 comic strips that contain violation of maxims with 5 cases of violation of multiple maxims and 10 cases of violation of one single maxim and 11 reasons of violation of maxim (to save face, avoid of what is asked, cheer up hearer, convince hearer, deceive hearer, abuse verbally, avoid talking, satisfy hearer, hide the truth, express excitement, and get intension faster). Violation of maxim is dominated by violation of maxim of quantity with 9 cases in 9 comic strips. There are 8 cases of violation of maxim of quality in 8 comic strips, 2 cases of violation of maxim of manner in 2 comic strips, and 1 case of violation of maxim of relation in 1 comic strip.Keywords: Grice’s Violation Maxim, Utterance, Comic

The objective of this research is to describe the violation and the use of the cooperative principle that is classified based on four maxims; they are maxim of quantity, the maxim of quality, the maxim of relation, and the maxim of manner.  This research uses the basic theory of pragmatic by focusing on the cooperative principle stated by Grice. This research uses a descriptive method. The data source of this research is the speech of the vegetable seller and his customers.  Data collection was taken from January--Febuary 2020. The data analysis is using a contextual heuristic method. Based on the result of the study, there are two violations of the maxim of quantity, two data of violations of the maxim of relation. The use of the cooperative principle is more commonly found in this research, namely, there are ten cooperative principles, three maxims of quantity, one maxim of quality, four maxims of relation, and two maxims of manner.

The research deals with The Violation of Cooperative Principle in Japanese Variety Show Gyouretsu no Dekkiru Houritsu Soudanjo. This research aims to identify types and function of the violation of cooperative principle in Japanese variety show gyouretsu no dekiru houritsu soudanjo. The theory used are cooperation principle (Grice, 1975) and speech acts theory (Searle, 1979). The data are collected using the method of referring by listening to the variety show and transcribing the data. This research is analyzed with padan pragmatic method.To present the result of data analysis using informal method. Based on the analysis, there are 20 forms of violation of cooperative principle. There are 7 data which violated the maxim of quantity, 4 data which violated the maxim of quality, 5 data which violated the maxim of relevance, 4 data which violated the maxim of manner, and 1 data which violated 2 maxim. There are, violated the maxim of quantity and violated the maxim of relevance. The purposes of violating cooperative principle in variety show gyouretsu no dekiru houritsu soudanjo consist 5 illocutionary speech acts. These purposes are 1) assertive: complaining, informing, lying, and enforcing; 2) directive: consenting, requesting, and ordering; 3) expressive: mocking, arrogant, joking,  teasing, thanking,  pardoning, deploring, ridiculing, and praising; 5) declarative: deciding, to say an opinion, and naming.

This research was aimed to analyze the pragmatic on Social Media. The analysis was focused on the application of cooperative principles. This research was conducted by using qualitative method. The data of this study were the Netizen comments on the influencer account. The account of the influencer was Anyageraldine. The data source is taken from instagram where nowdays many people use instagram for doing communication and interaction. The writers observed and choosed the data. There were some techniques of data analysis performed, namely: determining, observing, choosing, analyzing, and drawing conclusion. Based on the data analysis conducted, it was found that the cooperative principle at 2012 – 2016 are Maxim of Quantity is 4, Maxim of Quality is 2, Maxim of Relevance is 2, and Maxim of Manner is 7. And the writers also found the Cooperative Principles at 2017 – 2020 are Maxim of Quantity is 1, Maxim of Quality is 5, Maxim of Relevance is 7 and Maxim of Manner is 2. This is influenced by the influencer’s (Anya Geraldine) behaviour as we know that our behaviour make the people statements or comments, it means our behaviour also decided what the Cooperative Principles that the people will use.

This research aim to analyze the maxim flouting that were flouted by the characters in the Coco movie script based on Grice’s cooperative principle. This research used descriptive qualitative method to support in analyzing the data. The data sources of this research were the coco movie and its script. The data were accumulated by downloading the Coco movie and script, watching the movie, and collecting the data from the script. The data analysis was conducted by organizing the data into narration, analyzing the data, and make the conclusion. The result of this research showed what types of maxim were flouted in the movie. The results of this research show that the maxim flouted 11 times in the whole dialogue of the movie. The maxim quantity flouted 5 times or 45%. The maxim of relation flouted 3 times or 27%. The maxim of quality flouted 1 times or 10%. The maxim of manner flouted 2 times or 18%. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui karakteristik dan pelanggaran prinsip kerja sama dalam tuturan masyarakat Samin yang terkenal dengan bahasanya yang unik, yaitu bahasa yang polos, lugu, dan apa adanya. Metode analisis data berupa analisis kualitatif dengan teori wacana pragmatik. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan observasi dan wawancara langsung. Berdasarkan data yang diperoleh, ternyata banyak sekali pelanggaran yang dilakukan oleh masyarakat samin saat mereka bertutur, hal ini tidak akan menjadi hambatan, apabila mereka berbicara dengan lingkup sesama orang samin, tetapi sebaliknya justru akan menjadi masalah apabila digunakan ketika berbicara dengan orang lain diluar kelompok mereka. Pelanggaran prinsip kerja sama yaitu meliputi empat maksim, yaitu maksim kuantitas, maksim kualitas, maksim relevansi, dan maksim pelaksanaan.AbstractThe purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics and violation of the principle of cooperation in a famous Samin speech community with a unique language, a language that is plain, simple, and straightforward. Data analysis methods such as qualitative analysis of discourse theory of pragmatics. The data collection is done by direct observation and interviews. Based on the data obtained, it was a lot of offenses committed by public samin when they speak, this would not be an obstacle, if they talk to the scope fellow samin, but instead it will be a problem if used when talking to others outside their group , Violation of the principle of cooperation that includes four maxims, that maxim of quantity, maxim of quality, maxim of relevance, and the maxim of implementation. Abstract Maxims are the rules to know whether the speaker can be cooperative or not while he contributes the information in conversation. By flouting maxims, the participants of the conversation seem to be uncooperative but actually they do. The participants themselves have certain intentions of flouting the maxims. There are some intended meanings and certain purposes which are conveyed by the speaker behind the utterance where maxim flouting occurs. Hence, by flouting the maxims, the participants are not said to beuncooperative in a conversation. It is because maxim flouting is a way to make the hearer look for the real meaning beyond what is said implicitly by the speaker. This research only focus in analyzing maxim flouting that occurs in the Kungfu Panda Movie. This research uses the Grice’s Cooperative Principle and Cutting’s theory they are maxim quantity, maxim quality, maxim relation and maxim of manner that flouting by the main character in Kungfu Panda Movie Script. Based on the data analysis , it has been discovered that all the main characters all flouting all the types of maxims. The maxim of quantity flouting becomes the main type of maxim flouting which is performed by the main characters. They have tendency to flout this maxim to make the information given to the listener clearer. It is done by giving too little information rather than giving much one. Meanwhile, maxim of quality and maxim of manner flouting rarely occurs in the movie because the characters are assertive kind of persons. This research is focused on analyzing flouting and hedging of conversational maxim of utterances used by the main characters in “Post Grad” movie. Conversational maxims are the rules of cooperative principle categorized into four categories; Maxim of Quality, Maxim of Quantity, Maxim of Relevance, and Maxim of Manner. If these maxims are used in  conversations, the conversations can go smoothly. However, people often break the maxims overtly (flouting maxim) and sometimes break the maxims secretly (hedging maxims) when they make a conversation. This research is conducted using descriptive qualitative method based on the theory known as Grice’s Maxims. The data are in form of utterances used by the characters in “Post Grad” movie. The data analysis reveals some finding covering the formulated research question. The maxims are flouted when the speaker breaks some conversational maxims when using the utterances in the form of rhetorical strategies, such as tautology, metaphor, hyperbole, irony, and rhetorical question. On the other hand, conversational maxims are also hedged when the information is not totally accurate or unclearly stated but seems informative, well-founded, and relevant.Keywords: Descriptive analysis ; flouting maxims; hedging maxims;  Post Grad movie.

In communication, there is a well-established interaction if there is cooperation between speakers and opponents of speech. In the interaction of language there are interesting events studied from the principle of cooperation. One of them is the language event in the program of Waktu Indonesia Bercanda (WIB). The purpose of this research is to get the result of description about the form of deviation of cooperative principle in TV program Waktu Indonesia Bercanda (WIB). The method used in this research is the method of padan. The data in this study is a speech that contains the deviations of the principle of cooperation on the TV program Waktu Indonesia Bercanda (WIB). Sources of data from this study obtained from TV program Waktu Indonesia Bercanda (WIB) on Net. Techniques of data collection using collect techniques, record and note. The data analysis techniques in this study using descriptive data analysis. The results of the research found in the TV program Waktu Indonesia Bercanda (WIB) there are deviations of the principle of cooperation that includes the four maxims of maxim quantity, maxim quality, maxim relevance and maxim way. Conclusions and suggestions are given so that this study may be of benefit to the reader in particular can be expected to increase knowledge of pragmatic science and its parts including knowledge of deviations from the principle of good cooperation in daily communication.

This study aims to describe the types of violations of the principle of cooperation in dialogue between groups in the novel Koala Kumal by Raditya Dika. This study used descriptive qualitative method. The data source of this research is Raditya Dika's Koala Kumal novel which consists of 12 stories. Data collectiontechniques used include techniques for reading, listening, and taking notes. The research instrument used was a cooperative principle indicator in the form of a table. Data analysis techniques with qualitative descriptive methods with steps to collect data, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study show two conclusions. First, the form of violation of the principle of cooperation that occurs is (1) the maxim of quantity, (2) the maxim of quality, (3) the maxim of relevance, and (4) the maxim of the method or implementation. Second, namely the three objectives of violating the principle of cooperation, namely (1) representative purpose: providing information or giving explanations, ensuring, expressing expectations, and affirming, (2) directive objectives: insinuating, mocking, giving advice, and criticizing or protesting, and (3) expressive goals: lying, boasting, expressing dislike, expressing concern, seducing or teasing, praising, confused, and creating humor.
