The aim of this study is to empirically test the relations between the FDI in Turkey's manufacturing industry and the imports of intermediate and capital goods. Monthly data for the period 2005-2016 belonging to the variables used in the study were obtained from the "Electronic Data Distribution System" of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey. In the determination of the period of the study, the presence of monthly data and the increase trend of the FDI coming to Turkey after 2005 have been influential. Relations between variables in the study were tried to be determined by Toda-Yamamoto causality analysis. According to the empirical findings obtained in the study, one-way and statistically significant causal relations from FDI made in manufacturing industry to both capital goods imports and intermediate imports have been determined. However, from these relations, towards to intermediate imports is much more robust in terms of statistics. Therefore, these findings obtained from the study shows that FDI on Turkey's manufacturing industry are an important determinant of capital goods, and especially intermediate goods imports.

The main purpose of this study is that to test empirically relationship between Intra-Industry Trade (IIT) and Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). In this study, the relationship between IIT and FDI was analysed using time series analysis for the Turkish transport equipment sector. For this purpose, FDI, import and export data in the transport equipment sector were obtained from the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey and Turkish Statistical Institute. The period of the study has been limited between 2006:01 and 2013:11 due to constraints in the relevant data about the Turkish economy. In this study, the Grubel - Lloyd index have been derived using import and export values for the transport equipment sector in Turkey. This index and FDI in the transport equipment sector has been tested by the Granger causality analysis. The existence empirical and theoretical literature has not been reached any consensus about the relationship between the variables. Some researchers found a bilateral sign between FDI and IIT, while another studies show that there is some presence of unidirectional causality. This study's findings indicate that there is a unidirectional causality from FDI to IIT in the Turkish Transport equipment sector.

The Republic of Turkey is located at the threshold of Eurasia consolidating the East with the West and North with the South. Moreover, it is at the conjunction of many investment and commercial routes. These advantages disposition gives Turkey a favorable investment climate especially in the form of FDI. The volume of FDI in the world is well over 1 trillion USDs, but Turkey can attract only a small amount of it. Even tough Turkey has substantial foreign debt and commercial deficits, it still has a strong government with political stability. Thus, the aim of this paper is to present the literature on FDI, FDI and economic growth nexus, a historical background of FDI in Turkey, and FDI's contributions to the Turkish economy.

In South Africa the modern outlook towards time may be said to have started in 1948. Both the two major observatories, The Royal Observatory in Cape Town and the Union Observatory (now known as the Republic Observatory) in Johannesburg had, of course, been involved in the astronomical determination of time almost from their inception, and the Johannesburg Observatory has been responsible for the official time of South Africa since 1908. However the pendulum clocks then in use could not be relied on to provide an accuracy better than about 1/10 second, which was of the same order as that of the astronomical observations. It is doubtful if much use was made of even this limited accuracy outside the two observatories, and although there may – occasionally have been a demand for more accurate time, it was certainly not voiced.

Hisab and rukyat is a way to know the turn of the month. This study shows several findings. First is the correlation between Kuraib traditions and differences in the determination of the beginning of Ramadan, Shawwal, and Dhul-Hijjah in Indonesia. Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia has stated that Indonesia as a whole into a single jurisdiction (wilayatul hukmi). Second, on the success rukyat alhilal in one area that applied to other regions of earth. Important to know that the first visibility of the new moon does not cover the entire face of the earth on the same day, but splitting it into two parts: (1) part of the West to see the new moon, and (2) part of the East were not able to see the new moon.

Background: Since the distribution networks are passive until Distributed Generation (DG) is not being installed into them, the stability issues occur in the distribution system after the integration of DG. Methods: In order to assure the simplicity during the calculations, many approximations have been proposed for finding the system’s parameters i.e. Voltage, active and reactive powers and load angle, more efficiently and accurately. This research presents an algorithm for finding the Norton’s equivalent model of distribution system with DG, considering from receiving end. Norton’s model of distribution system can be determined either from its complete configuration or through an algorithm using system’s voltage and current profiles. The algorithm involves the determination of derivative of apparent power against the current (dS/dIL) of the system. Results: This work also verifies the accuracy of proposed algorithm according to the relative variations in the phase angle of system’s impedance. This research also considers the varying states of distribution system due to switching in and out of DG and therefore Norton’s model needs to be updated accordingly. Conclusion: The efficacy of the proposed algorithm is verified through MATLAB simulation results under two scenarios, (i) normal condition and (ii) faulty condition. During normal condition, the stability factor near to 1 and change in dS/dIL was near to 0 while during fault condition, the stability factor was higher than 1 and the value of dS/dIL was away from 0.
