This paper aims to explore and document the concept and meaning of dowry in the Isirawa people bride exchange system, determines its impact on women and children, and provides a reflective analysis from a feminist point of view regarding the dowry payment system. The research used the feminist ethnography qualitative method through literature studies, interviews, and observations. The results found that the dowry exchange system, when viewed from a positive side, means that women or children are considered very valuable and vital for the Isirawa community, namely to strengthen kinship between families and clumps, to continue the clan, as a tool of peace in a conflict as prevention of domestic violence. However, on the other hand, it has a negative impact that is more detrimental to women, namely limiting women's rights, violence, and unfair treatment of women and children. So, it needs to be criticized and consider changing some parts of the tradition that marginalize them by providing solutions, understandings, and new Christian values not to eliminate the existing culture but continue to enable carrying out the tradition for the welfare of the people without harming the other.AbstrakTulisan ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi dan mendokumentasikan konsep dan makna maskawin dalam sistem perkawinan tukar pada Suku Isirawa, melihat dampaknya bagi perempuan dan anak, serta memberikan analisis reflektif dari sudut pandang feminis mengenai hal tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif etnografi feminis, melalui studi kepustakaan, wawancara, dan observasi. Hasilnya ditemukan bahwa pada sistem tukar-menukar maskawin tersebut jika dilihat dari sisi positif memiliki makna perempuan atau anak dianggap sangat berharga dan penting bagi masyarakat Isirawa, yakni untuk mempererat kekerabatan antar keluarga dan rumpun, meneruskan marga, dan sebagai alat perdamaian konflik seperti untuk mencegah kekerasan dalam rumah tangga. Tetapi, di sisi lain memiliki dampak negatif yang merugikan, beberapa di antaranya membatasi hak-hak perempuan, terjadi kekerasan, dan perlakuan tidak adil terhadap perempuan dan anak. Dengan demikian, perlu dikritisi dan dipertimbangkan untuk mengubah beberapa bagian tradisi yang memarinalkan tersebut dengan bersama-sama memberi solusi, pemahaman, dan nilai Kristiani yang baru, sehingga tidak serta-merta menghilangkan total budaya yang ada. Sebaliknya, tradisi tetap dapat terlaksana untuk menyejahterakan umat tanpa merugikan salah satu pihak.

Sistem kekerabatan masyarakat Minangkabau menganut sistem matrilineal yang mengatur kehidupan dan ketertiban suatu masyarakat yan terikat pada jalinan kekerabatan dalam garis keturunan ibu. Sistem matrilineal dalam masyarakat Minangkabau membuat mamak memiliki kewajiban dan tanggung jawab yang besar terhadap kemenakannya. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan realitas pandangan Abdoel Moeis dalam novel Salah Asuhan tentang peran mamak dalam tata pernikahan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif untuk memahami persoalan nilai budaya tradisional yang berlangsung secara turun-temurun, bahkan hingga pada masa kini. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada satu sisi pengarang menyukai pengorbanan mamak sebagai suatu realisasi dari tanggung jawabnya terhadap kemenakannya, seperti pengorbanan Sutan Batuah dalam membantu biaya sekolah Hanafi. Pada sisi lain, melalui tokoh Hanafi, tokoh mamak hanya penyebab ketidakbebasan generasi muda untuk menentukan jodoh atau pasangan hidupnya. Novel Salah Asuhan sarat akan nilai-nilai kehidupan seputar sistem kekerabatan. Peran dan tanggung jawab ninik mamak dan orang tua terkesan tergugat dari sudut pandang kehidupan modern sekarang ini. Melalui novel ini dikatakan bahwa pemaknaan adat-istiadat Minangkabau yang meliputi wujud kebudayaan, kompleks ide, gagasan, nilai, norma, dan peraturan berperan sebagai pengendali perilaku warga masyarakat, khususnya dalam hal pernikahan dan/atau pernikahan yang diadatkan.AbstrakThe kinship system of the Minangkabau community embraces a matrilineal system controlling the life and order of a society connected to the kinship network in the matrilineal lineage.The matrilineal system in the community makes the mamak has a great obligation and responsibility for her nephews. The aim of this research is to describe Abdoel Moeis’s view in “Salah Asuhan” novel about the role of the mamak in a marriage arrangement. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method in order to understand the problem of traditional cultural values which has been held from generation to generation, even to the present day.The result of the research indicates that, in one hand, the author understands the sacrifice of the mamak as the realization of his responsibility for her nephews, as the sacrifice of Sutan Batuah in helping Hanafi’s tuition fees. On the other hand, through Hanafi’s character, the mamak’s is just the cause of the young generations’ lack of freedom to choose their spouses. “Salah Asuhan” is full of values of life around the kinship system. The role and responsibility of ninik mamak and parents seems defendant from modern life point of view. Through this novel, the author shows that the meaning of Minangkabau customs includes the form of culture, complex of ideas, concepts, values, norms, and roles that act as controller the people behavior, especially in marriage and/or customarymarriage.

AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji perbandingan kepercayaan masyarakat Talagadi Majalengka dan masyarakat Nagoya di Jepang. Kepercayaan yang dimaksud dalampenelitian ini adalah kepercayaan yang berhubungan dengan tabu atau pamali dankepercayaan yang berhubungan dengan keberuntungan pada kedua masyarakat tersebut.Untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut digunakan metode deskripstif kualitatif. Dalam memupudata digunakan metode lapangan karena peneliti terjun langsung ke masyarakat. Disamping itu, digunakan pula metode survey melalui penyebaran daftar kuesioner. Hasilpenelitian menunjukkan bahwa bentuk kepercayaan yang berhubungan dengan tabu ataupamali pada masyarakat Talaga dan Nagoya meliputi kegiatan yang dilakukan oleh manusia.Adapun kepercayaan yang berhubungan dengan keberuntungan pada kedua masyarakattersebut berkaitan dengan binatang, benda, dan kegiatan manusia. Sampai saat ini baikmasyarakat Talaga maupun Nagoya masih memegang teguh kepercayaan tersebut.Kata kunci: kepercayaan, Talaga, Nagoya, deskriptif kualitatif, komparasi budaya.AbstractThe aim of this research is to review the comparison of belief between the society ofTalaga in Majalengka and the society of Nagoya in Japan. The intended belief on this study isthe one related with a taboo or pamali, and the belief correlated to luck on both societies. Inachieving the goal, this research uses a descriptive qualitative method. To get the data, thewriter uses a field method that he (/she) directly involves with the people. On the other hand,the writer also uses a survey method by distributing questioners. The result shows that the beliefcorrelated with the taboo or pamali of Talaga and Nagoya societies covers the activities doneby human. Also with the belief related to luck of both societies corresponds to animals, things,and human’s activities. Until now, either Talaga society or Nagoya’s still keeps those beliefs.Keyword: belief, Talaga, Nagoya, descriptive qualitative, cultural comparison.

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengeksplorasi bentuk toleransi dan faktor pendorong dan faktor penghambat toleransi masyarakat Jawa dengan studi kasus di Dukuh Medono Kabupaten Batang. Di dukuh tersebut, penganut organisasi agama seperti NU, Muhammadiyah dan Kristen Jawa di Dukuh Medono saling hidup rukun. Metode penelitian menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa toleransi antar penganut NU, Muhammadiyah, Kristen Jawa tampak berbagai bentuk. Antara NU dan Kristen Jawa dalam bentuk partisipasi dalam ritual tahlilan, sedangkan antar ketiganya tampak dalam bentuk kerja bakti, saling membantu dalam acara hajatan, perkawinan campur dan saling berkunjung bila ada yang sakit. Faktor pendorong toleransi antara lain budaya toleransi yang sudah lama, pernikahan antar penganut yang berbeda, sosialisasi toleransi dalam keluarga, dan kepemimpinan desa yang menekankan pentingnya toleransi. Sedangkan faktor penghambat toleransi yaitu perbedaan pandangan antar penganut NU dan Muhammadiyah dalam pelaksanaan ibadah, pernikahan beda keyakinan, dan sikap menyinggung keyakinan diantara penganut yang ada. The objective of this study is to explore forms of tolerance and the driving factor of religious tolerance in Dukuh Medono, Batang. In that village, the followers of NU, Muhammadiyah, and Kristen Jawa live peacefully and united in tolerance. The research method used here is a qualitative method with phenomenology approach. The result of the research shows that the tolerance between NU followers and Javanese Christians take the form of participation in tahlilan ritual. The tolerance between NU, Muhammadiyah followers, and Kristen Jawa followers are expressed through kerja bakti, mutual support in hajatan rituals, mixed marriage, visits to the sick, and social activities together. The factors which help to create tolerance include the culture of tolerance which exist in the village, marriages between religious followers, the socialization of tolerance within family, the socialization of tolerance within the society and the role of village administrative leaders. On the other hand, the factors which distract tolerance are different point of view between NU dan Muhammadiyah followers in some religious aspects, marriage between different religious followers, and the attitude of insulting others beliefs.

This writing is about inflection of Sasak language in Kuripan. The people of Kuripan use Meno-Mene dialect as their daily communication. Sasak language in Kuripan has the uniqueness based on its position (lay on a boundary area of West Lombok and Central Lombok) wherein Kuripan uses Meno-Mene dialect and the other part of Central Lombok which is close to Kuripan Use Meriaq-Meriku dialect so that it makes Meno-Mene dialect of Kuripan has its own character. Based on the phenomenon about varieties of the words and utterances which have different structure is used in Sasak language especially in Kuripan, so I interest in doing the research about inflection as a subfield of morphology which influences the sentences or utterances structurally.  Therefore, this study aims to analyze the types and the functions of inflection in the Meno-Mene dialect of Kuripan. This study used a descriptive and qualitative method where the data gathered through some methods: observation, and an interview. The data gathered are analyzed using some steps: Representing the data obtained, then classifying the class category of the base words (whether they are verb, noun, or adjective), then Identifying the types of inflection in  Meno-Mene Dialect of Kuripan, and the last Analyzing various functions of inflection in Meno-Mene dialect of Kuripan. This study found there is 34 (thirty-four) inflection morpheme that classified according to the lexical category, namely; noun, verb, and adjective. Furthermore, all of the inflectional affixes above have the difference function depend on their affixes and their base-form category. Hence, this study found that the use Meno-Mene dialect of Kuripan has the various affixes especially in term of inflection which influences the utterances or expressions grammatically.

The focus of this research is finding the construction of religious harmony in former conflict areas in Indonesia. The aim is to photograph the process of resolving religious conflicts in Kampung Rano in Mamasa of West Sulawesi Province. This research uses a qualitative method using a phenomenological approach by collecting socio-religious data and interviews from researchers with objects. This study empirically shows that finds the importance of understanding the value of pluralism has been taking place, especially for the people of Kampung Rano to regenerate an economic situation that has been devastated for more than a decade. On the other hand, there are a number of agreements between the transmigrant community and local residents, one of which is to no longer use religious attributes and symbols in political activities.

This research aims to describe a multicultural woman identity in Cala Ibi novel written by Nukila Amal. The method uses qualitative method based on theory of pschoanalysis feminism. Through women character analysis, it found that women identity constructed in symbolic and imaginary phase. The women character resistance to symbolic order with creates other self. In imaginary phase, the other self is a woman with split identity who needs to be free and submissive at once. It voices multiculturalism point of view. The women approval to differences and cultural diversity shows her position as a multicultural subject. However, the women voice can also become desire for ‘other’ as result on alienation that faced by her in postmodern situation.

ABSTRAKPembangunan merupakan suatu proses yang mengarah pada perubahan dalam kehidupan masyarakatnya, baik dari kehidupan sosial, ekonomi, politik dan lain sebagainya menuju arah yang lebih baik lagi. Pada dasarnya dalam suatu pembangunan ditujukan bagi masyarakatnya. Disisi lain hal ini juga bisa berimplikasi atau berdampak bagi kehidupan masyarakatnya. Pembangunan yang tidak berorientasi pada masyarakatnya tentunya akan memberikan dampak yang negatif pula kepada masyarakatnya, dan sebaliknya pembangunan yang berorientasikan kepada masyarakatnya tentu akan memberikan dampak yang positif pula tidak hanya bagi masyarakatnya, juga bagi pihak yang terlibat dalam proses pembangunan tersebut.Adapun tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat bagaimana dampak yang ditimbulkan dari adanya pembangunan objek wisata ini bagi kehidupan sosial-ekonomi masyarakatnya, dan melihat apakah dengan adanya objek wisata ini dapat mensejahterahkan hidup masyarakatnya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif, dengan data primer yang diperoleh dari wawancara dengan informan, dan data sekunder berupa beberapa jurnal, literatur review, dan bebetapa penelitian terdahulu, penelitian ini dilakukan di Desa Mekar Jaya Kecamatan Manggar Kabupaten Belitung Timur. Hasil dari penelitian ini yakni adanya pembangunan unit usaha waterboom ini pada kenyataannya belum terlalu memberikan dampak yang cukup signifikan bagi kehidupan sosial ekonomi masyarakatnya. Hal tersebut dapat terlihat karena dari segi pembangunan yang dilakukan belum terlaksana sepenuhnya, karena terkendala dalam beberapa hal. Sehingga hal ini menghambat dalam proses pembangunan yang ada.  ABSTRACTDevelopment is a process that leads to changes in the life of the people, from social, economic, political and other life towards a better direction. Basically, in a development aimed at the community. On the other hand, this can also have implications or impacts on the life of the community. Development that is not oriented towards the community will certainly have a negative impact on the community, and on the other hand, development that is oriented towards the community will certainly have a positive impact not only on the community, but also for those involved in the development process.The purpose of this research is to see how the impact of the development of this tourist attraction for the socio-economic life of the people, and to see whether the existence of this tourist attraction can make the lives of the people prosperous. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach, with primary data obtained from interviews with informants, and secondary data in the form of several journals, literature reviews, and some previous research. The result of this research is that the development of the waterboom business unit has not had a significant impact on the socio-economic life of the community. This can be seen because from a development perspective it has not been fully implemented, due to constraints in several ways. So that this hinders the existing development process.

The article is an outlook on the process of migration from the point of view of the World Council of Churches. It mainly examines the key document of the WCC on this subject: The „other” is my neighbour. Developing an ecumenical response to migration. From Christian perspective the people of God is in constant pilgrimage on this Earth, as proved by story of Israel and in the life of Jesus and his disciples. Migration considerably changes the ecclesial landscape of the country of exodus and of the country of destination. Cultural, linguistic, theological and liturgical enrichment of the countries of settlement means in the same time the impoverishment of the countries abandoned by migrants from the same values. One of the main reasons of migration is poverty. The last however may also be a result of migration, if displacement is caused by war or persecutions. The migrants are often exposed to exploitation and unfair treatment. The diagnosis by WCC leads to issuing of a series of recommendations for the Churches: treating migrants with dignity, providing pastoral support, incorporating migrants into the parish work and liturgical celebrations, etc. By applying the rule of love of one’s neighbour Christians should made every effort to welcome migrants and make them home in the local ecclesial communities.

With the increasing number of Timorese Dawan who are married they are not in accordance with what is right before God today. Certainly making the servants of God must pay special attention and focus looking for various ways how to prevent and overcome the situation.    And this is also very important to be studied. Why? Because of the habits that practiced by the Timor Dawan tribe rampant until now and this has a negative impact on the generation of teenagers and youth of the Dawan Timor tribe.    And keep in mind that habits like this are also something evil in God's eyes. Therefore, as people who believe in God need to pay attention to this problem and find ways to prevent and improve this habit because this is something that is wrong and that is not pleasing before God.    With this, the author is burdened to examine this problem with qualitative method. So that if you wish through this research, the people of Timor Dawan can turn those bad habits into habits that are in accordance with Genesis 1: 27-28.    And this also needs to be applied by God's servants especially for God's servants who come from the Eastern Dawan tribe so that young people can see and apply their marriage properly and correctly before God and avoid bad associations that commit adultery before being blessed in the church.

Abstrak Perkawinan Siri adalah salah satu bentuk masalah yang tejadi di Negara Indonesia saat ini . Permasalahn ini sangat sulit untuk dipantau oleh pihak yang berwenang, karena mereka yang melaksanakan pernikahan siri ini tidak dilaporkan pernikahan mereka kepada pihak yang berkompeten dalam hal ini yakni Kantor Urusan Agama (KUA) bagi umat muslim dan Kantor Catatan Sipil bagi yang Non Muslim. Pernikahan siri biasanya dilakukan dihadapan tokoh masyarakat atau ustad sebagai Penghulu, atau ada juga yang dilakukan secara adat-istiadat saja kemudian tidak dilaporkan kepada pihak yang berwenang untuk dicatatkan sesuai ketentuan undang-undang No.1 tahun 1974 tentang Perkawinan pada pasal 2 ayat (2) yang berbunyi “tiaptiap perkawinan dicatat menurut peraturan perundang-undangan yang berlaku. Adapun masalah pencatatan perkawinan yang tidak dilaksanakan tidaklah menganggu keabsahan suatu perkawinan yang telah dilaksanakan sesuai hukum islam . karena sekedar menyangkut aspek administrative. Hanya saja jika suatu perwainan tidak dicatatkan, maka suamiistri tersebut tidak memiliki bukti otentik bahwa mereka telah melaksanakan suatu perkawinan yang sah. Akibatnya, dilihat dari aspek yuridis, perkawinan tersebut tidak diakui pemerintah, sehingga tidak mempunyai kekuatan hukum. Dampak positif maupun negative juga menyertai praktk perkawinan siri diantaranya untuk dampak positifnya meminimalisasi adanya perzinaan melalui seks bebas. Namun disisi lain juga dampak negatifnya adalah merugikan banyak pihak terutama hak dan kewajiban wanita dan anakanak dari perkawinan siri tersebut. Akibat hukumnya bagi perkawinan yang tidak memiliki Akte Nikah, secara Yuridis suami atau istri serta anak yang dilahirkan tidak dapat melakukan tindakan hukum keperdataan berkaitan dengan rumah tangganya. Anak-anaknya hanya akan diakui oleh Negara sebagai anak diluar kawin yang hanya memiliki hubungan keperdataan dengan ibu dan keluarga ibunya. On the other hand also the negative impact is detrimental to many parties, especially the rights and obligations of women and children from the marriage siri. As a result of the consequences of the marriage that do not have a Marriage Certificate, in Juridical husband or wife and children who are born unable to perform civil legal action related to the household. Her children will only be recognized by the State as a child beyond the mating just have a civil relationship with her mother and her mother's family.
