An ‘individual well-being ecosystem’ is a term that portrays a balanced situation between individuals that have a relationship among themselves in a system or between individuals and the surrounding elements in a system. The individual well-being ecosystem can be disrupted when something disrupts the balance in the ecosystem. One form of disruption is when the individual experiences stress. An example of a disruption in the balance of an individual’s well-being ecosystem is when a stressed individual is capable of jeopardising his or her life or the life of others in the ecosystem. Hence, the question is how Islam interprets this situation. How can stress management from an Islamic perspective be implemented in an individual well-being ecosystem? Therefore, this article had two objectives. First, the focus of this article was to identify the individual well-being ecosystem from an Islamic perspective. Second, it intended to analyse the individual well-being ecosystem from an Islamic perspective in stress management scope. Data from journals and books were analysed using the qualitative document analysis method. The findings showed that the well-being ecosystem according to Islam was related to the individual and elements possessed by the individual. The individual well-being ecosystem from an Islamic perspective is closely related with the three dimensions of well-being, namely the relations between mankind and Allah swt, relations amongst mankind and relations between mankind and nature as well as the four elements of well-being – physical, intellectual, social and spiritual.

Global indices are an increasingly popular way to assess progress against such goals, by distilling an array of complex information into a single number or ranking. The new global Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) Index bridges insights from gender and development indices with those from peace and security indices in a way that is simple and transparent and that reflects women’s autonomy and empowerment as agents at home, in the community, and in society. The index is structured around three basic dimensions of women’s well-being: inclusion (economic, social, political); justice (formal laws and informal discrimination); and security (at the individual, community, and societal levels), which are quantified through carefully selected indicators. It ranks 153 countries along these three dimensions in a way that highlights key achievements and deficits, and provides a tool to monitor progress over time. The global rankings highlight priority areas in which policy reforms and investments are needed to accelerate progress, especially in countries that are performing poorly or where achievements are unbalanced across dimensions. This chapter both informs and contributes to an evidence-based narrative that inspires political action and social movements.

Stress is a condition of mental pressure for particular individual facing problems from environmental and social well-being which leads to so many diseases. Young age is the critical period because at this time youth faces lots of changes in his/her life. They are expected to be the elites in the society. Thus, they should enhance their stress management abilities so as to live a healthy life after entering the society. When a child enters into the youth age, they need to not only adapt themselves to the new life and new environment but also be familiar with many new people, events, and things. The life stress on them is considerable. Therefore, understanding the sources of stress among them and how they can cope with the stress is very important. The researcher found that the stress mainly comes from academic tests, interpersonal relations, relationship problems, life changes, and career exploration. Such stress may usually cause psychological, physical, and behavioral problems. This study finds the causes of stress among youth. So after identifying causes the researcher suggests that more emphasis can be given to development stage of child into adolescence. They should be brought up in the positive environment. More emphasis should be given to the outdoor activities and create hostile learning environment by minimizing the negative impact of stressors. The findings will help the individual students, scholars, lecturers, career and counseling centers.

Abstract Background Workplace Health Promotion (WHP) is the combined efforts of employers, employees and society to improve the health and well-being of people at work. Sense of Coherence (SOC) is the ability to perceive and manage stressful events. The aims of this study are: to prove the SOC-13 scale sensitivity and, using this tool, to investigate employers' welfare in a company promoting ENWHP model. Methods We selected an Italian company, that, since 2017, is carrying out a WHP project. We sent to all the workers (n = 358) the SOC scale-13 items, which investigates three dimensions: comprehensibility (C), manageability (Ma) and meaningfulness (Me), at T0 (October 2018) and T1 (April 2019). Each item is scored on a 7-point Likert scale, ranging 13-91, with higher score corresponding to a more developed SOC. Total score for C, Ma and Me subscales were calculated. The scores were compared using paired “T” tests. Results The response rate was 29% (n = 104) and 25% (n = 89) at T0 and at T1, respectively. At T1 SOC score and its three dimensions were higher (mean SOC ± SD: T0 =57,23 ± 11,00 vs T1= 61,90 ± 12,03 p = 0,005; mean C ± SD: T0=21,97±4,46 vs T1=23,02±5,16 p = 0,124; mean Ma ± SD: T0=16,64± 4,27 vs T1=17,96±4,36 p = 0,033; mean Me ± SD: T0=18,62 ±5,01 vs T1=20,92±4,89 p = 0,002). Conclusions Our findings suggest that a WHP project can promote healthy workplace environments, enhance workers quality of life and improve the individual capacity to cope successfully with stress. We showed that SOC-13 scale is an easy and appropriate tool to evaluate the employers' wellbeing, thanks to its high sensitivity. Key messages SOC scale-13 can record the quality of workplace health promotion measures and continually improve them. WHP good practices enhance workers’ welfare.

Abstract. Despite the substantial attention paid to stress management in the extant coping literature, media use has been surprisingly overlooked as a strategy worthy of close examination. Although media scholars have suggested media use may be driven by a need to relax, related research has been sporadic and, until recently, disconnected from the larger conversation about stress management. The present research aimed to determine the relative value of media use within the broader range of coping strategies. Based on surveys of both students and breast cancer patients, media use emerged as one of the most frequently selected strategies for managing stress across a range of personality and individual difference variables. Further, heavier television consumers and those with higher perceived stress were also more likely to use media for coping purposes. Finally, those who choose media for stress management reported it to be an effective tool, although perhaps not as effective as other popular strategies. This research not only documents the centrality of media use in the corpus of stress management techniques, thus highlighting the value of academic inquiry into media-based coping, but it also offers evidence supporting the positive role media use can play in promoting psychological well-being.

An engaged and perceptive contemplation of the Qur'an forms one of the most important bases for the cultural and social advancement of Muslims in all walks of life, and the absence of such study is one of the reasons behind the general cultural attenuation in the modern world. Reflection is one of the means of the construction and formation of a civilised society. The applied faculty of intellect creates an environment which allows reflective and considered thought to be developed from a functional perspective for the general well-being of society. Meanwhile the effective neglect of such study leads to the proliferation of superstition, dissent and social conflict. Indeed it can even be argued that it diminishes the significance of the laws and conventions which serve as the backbone of society. This paper reveals a number of factors which can impede the achievement of such an engaged study of the text: thus, for instance, thoughtless obedience to societal conventions; shortcomings in educational systems and syllabi; and a failure to encompass the significance of the Arabic language. Furthermore this paper presents several effective suggestions for nurturing students' potential, encouraging an environment which allows freedom of thought, and its refinement.

The progress made in dentistry during the latest decades is due, conceptually, to the new, systemic vision of man, which has also taken place in this field of medicine. In this context, the link between organic and psychic is indestructible. Thus illness is understood as a drama in which the somatic process has a psychic value, and the mental one has a body value. It is known that the morphological and functional integrity of the dental system, health and vigorousness, gives the individual a state of well-being that affects his somatic and psychic health, as any disturbance at this level entails repercussions in psychological and social behavior. Such a disruption is the total edification that seriously alters not only the dental system but the whole organism, putting various biological and psychosocial problems to the practitioner. The total expression represents not only a physical disability but also a psychological one. A special importance in studying psychological changes at total edentulous presents the psychological aspects of senile involution. This is not only a theoretical but also a practical importance due to the increase in the number of elderly people. Through the researches of the present paper we intend to present the reality of the psychological manifestations in the total edentation, which is objectified on different methods of psychodiagnosis in the first part, in order for the second part to be addressed to problems of prosthetic psychotherapy. The study comprises a group of 43 patients, of whom 24 were men and 19 women with total uni or bimaxilar edentation. Total edentation can be and is responsible for somatopsychic alterations, along with other pathogens, general, local, social, which sometimes can take a dramatic form, converting, where the area is also favorable, a pure somatic disease, for those who are not in psychopathy or even psychosis, although these latter cases are extremely rare and especially in youngsters, which would disrupt not only the persons behavior as an individual, but also their status, function and social integrity. The treatment of dental and psychological complex is mandatory for any patient, but especially for the elderly, where recovery is more difficult, with disease-specific disorders adding to those of senescence.

Temporal focus is the individual tendency to characteristically think more or less about the past, present, and future. Although originally rooted in early work from psychology, research on temporal focus has been steadily growing in a number of research areas, particularly since Zimbardo and Boyd’s (1999) influential article on the topic. This chapter will review temporal focus research from the past to the present, including how temporal focus has been conceptualized and measured, and which correlates and outcomes have been tested in terms of well-being and behavior. Based on this review, an agenda for research is created to direct temporal focus research in the future.
