The purpose of this paper is to explore the challenges faced by different stakeholders of Assam Silk industry due to COVID 19 pandemic. Moreover the paper identifies strategies to revive the silk industry. The study is qualitative and data were collected through in-depth interview from weavers, manufacturers as well as raw and finished silk products suppliers using semi structured questionnaire. The findings indicate that all the stakeholders are affected very badly by the pandemic. The paper will act as a framework or guidelines to policy makers to frame policies and to stakeholders in formulating strategies to revive the industry.

AbstractBackground and purpose: This study examines crisis management practices (CMPs) for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the field of tourism during the global coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The purpose of this study is to analyse how tourism SMEs reacted to the crisis caused by the pandemic. The present research aims to determine which operational CMPs were deployed by tourism SMEs to minimize the impact of the crisis.Design/Methodology/Approach: This study focuses on the following types of tourism SMEs – lodging facilities, food and beverage (F&B) facilities, and tourist agencies (TA). A total of 574 valid online questionnaires were obtained from SME managers. The structured questionnaire included 27 CMPs belonging to the four dimensions of crisis management – workforce, cost control, organizational support and marketing CMPs. Exploratory factor analysis and the non-parametric Kruskal Wallis H test and Mann-Whitney U test were used to investigate SMEs response to the crisis.Results: Results indicate that SMEs primarily focus on the following CMP dimensions (respectively): workforce, cost control, organizational support, and promotional and customer-related marketing practices. Results show that there are statistically significant differences in the usage of different CMPs among the different types of SMEs.Conclusion: The use of selected variables enables an internationally comparable benchmarking process and facilitates the improvement of tourism SMEs crisis management. The conclusion provides suggestions for future research and useful information for scholars, policy makers, and tourism managers.

Abstract: The purpose of the study was to explore the impact of electronic commerce on business performance with specific focus on business organisations in Harare, Zimbabwe. This was achieved through investigating the relationship between e-commerce investment and indicators of business performance such as cost operations, service operations and profit levels. A structured questionnaire was developed and administered to 40 respondents from 10 e-commerce organisations. The study revealed that there was a positive relationship between e-commerce investment and business performance. It was revealed that an investment in e-commerce by organisations in Zimbabwe would increase profit levels, improve service operations and reduce transaction costs. The researchers recommended that organisations that have already adopted e-commerce should raise customer awareness and interest in e-commerce and promote the usage of the technology. They also recommended that policy makers such as the Government must take a leading role in the funding of education and the development of infrastructure in order to encourage more organizations and consumers to participate in e-commerce.Keywords: E-commerce, Business performance, Business organisations, Service operations, Cost operations


The implementation of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) has become increasingly important to scholars and practitioners over the last two decades. This study examined the relationships between user antecedents, CRM implementation, and customer outcomes. Its aims were to identify CRM user antecedents, explore the impact of these antecedents on CRM implementation, and examine the connection between CRM implementation and customer outcomes: loyalty, retention, and satisfaction. A quantitative method was employed consisting of a structured questionnaire. A total of 290 completed questionnaires were returned and analyzed with structural equation modelling techniques. The results indicated there were significant positive relationships between four out of five antecedents and CRM implementation; however, an impact of user involvement was not supported by the data. CRM implementation was also found to positively affect all three customer’s outcomes: loyalty, retention, and satisfaction. These findings are of practical and theoretical value to practitioners, customers, and policy makers

This study aimed to describe and explore the experiences and perceptions of children of divorce families. A qualitative phenomenological approach was used to provide depth understanding on 1.) Children experiences on parental divorce, 2.) The impact and effects of divorce, 3.) Their perceptions on marriage and divorce, 4.) Whether Islamic practices have helped them cope with the experience. In-depth interview with semi-structured questionnaire were tools in the study. The interviews were analyzed using inductive analysis. Data were transcribed and analyzed to identify themes generated from the interview. From the analysis effects of divorce were identified as internalizing effects, externalizing effects, and mediating effects. As the exploration and understanding of each frame go deeper and become more personal, various concepts emerge. The internalizing effects employ the direct approach of lived experiences, which were categorized into inciting negative reactions and continuing impact of divorce. The second frame on externalizing effects uses the indirect approach that results in providing risks and eliciting some positive effects. The last frame on mediating effects combined the direct and indirect approaches and revealed the coping and healing strategies and perceptions on family and divorce. The Islamic perspective on coping was a comfort to some of the participants.   Keywords - divorce, marriage, perceptions, experiences, islam, muslim

The aim of this study is to examine the level of satisfaction of second home users in the EBSR countryside due to the COVID-19 pandemic. For this purpose, a qualitative research based on in-depth interview technique using semi-structured questionnaire was applied to six households. Gürgenağaç Village within the borders of Trabzon Province, Maçka District was selected as the case area. The study provided results to discuss whether rural second homes, which are seen as insurance against risks, fulfill the expected task by virtue of the global pandemic experience and the problems arising from second homes and their surroundings. In conclusion, the study shows that behaviors and attitudes of rural second home owners had significantly changed with the COVID-19 pandemic.

This cross sectional descriptive study was conducted among the health policy makers, health administrators, doctors including medical teachers, intern doctors, clinically exposed medical students and patients. The study was conducted at government and non government medical colleges of Dhaka and outside Dhaka from 1st July 2014 to 30th June 2015. Total respondents were 372 and information was collected through in-depth interview schedule and self administered semi structured questionnaire. The qualitative information was collected from health policy makers including administrators by in-depth interview which was complimentary to the findings obtained by self administered semi structured questionnaire. Out of 372 respondents 280 (75.3%) and 92 (24.7%) were engaged in government and non- government hospitals/ organizations respectively. Among the respondents 164 (44.1%) agreed and 98 (26.3%) strongly agreed that introduction of licensing examination for the medical and dental practitioners are justified in the present context of Bangladesh. Of the total, 294 (79%) agreed and 40 (10.8%) strongly agreed that licensing examination shall be useful for individual professional development and also agreed that this will help in overall professional development, shall improvement of professional competency and shall enrich doctors with updated professional knowledge. Majority of the respondents (70.6%) mentioned that doctors may not be interested. Of the same respondents 99.1% opined that the registration shall be on the basis of degree or the examination shall only be for person graduated from abroad or foreigner graduates. About 73% respondents were in agreement with 5 years validity period for an examination. Of the total 84.4% respondents agreed that the examination will improvement of standard of medical and dental education offered by all medical and dental colleges of Bangladesh. There are many direct and indirect benefits of introducing licensing examination for the registration of medical and dental graduates/practitioners and there are a few barriers to implement that too.Bangladesh Journal of Medical Education Vol.8(1) 2017: 2-8

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to provide an analysis of the effects that the perceived corruption has on students’ behaviours. In more detail, the analysis will explain how the individual and contextual variables influence students’ behaviours and corruption perception. Design/methodology/approach The authors employed a structured questionnaire administered to 200 Italian students attending Bachelor and Master Degrees courses, based on a theoretical background that considers corruption in higher education as the result of the interplay between the various actors and institutions in the field. Findings Findings have both interesting academic and practical implications, since the study advances the literature on corruption in higher education and also advances a framework explaining how contextual and individual characteristics influence students’ behaviours and corruption perception. Originality/value The study presents manifold interesting implications both for academics, practitioners and policy-makers on the impact that students’ corruption perception has on the whole higher education system.

Russian policy makers argue that agriculture suffers from decapitalization due to financial constraints faced by producers. This view is the basis for the national agricultural policy, which emphasizes reimbursement of input costs and substitutes government and quasi-government organizations for missing market institutions. The article evaluates the availability of purchased farm inputs, the efficiency of their use, the main problems in the emergence of market institutions, and the impact of government policies. The analysis focuses on five groups of purchased inputs: farm machinery, fertilizers, fuel, seeds, and animal feed. The information sources include official statistics and data from two original surveys.

In this competitive environment, organizations strive to satisfy their customer by providing best quality service at affordable and fair prices with a view to enhance their revenues. To achieve the objective of revenue maximization, organizations strive to identify the factors that help them in retaining their customers. Drawing from the signalling theory of marketing, the current study proposes a novel conceptual model representing the impact of service quality with food quality and price fairness on customer retention in restaurant sector of Pakistan. The paper underlines an important arena of knowledge for academicians as well as organizational scientists on the subject. On the basis of literature available on the variables understudy, the present study forwards eight research propositions worthy of urgent scholarly attention. The conceptualized model of the present article can also be viewed significant in unleashing further avenues for the restaurant management entities, policy makers and future researchers in the domain of managing in the service sector businesses.

This study focuses on examining the impact of three components of materialism on green purchase intention for urban consumers in Vietnam, an emerging economy. An extended Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) is applied as the conceptual framework for this study. The hypotheses are empirically tested using survey data obtained from consumers in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. The regression results show support for most of our hypotheses. The findings indicate that two out of three facets of materialism are significant predictors of green purchase intention. Specifically, success is found to be negatively related to purchase intention, while happiness is related positively to the intention. All three antecedents in the TPB model, including attitude towards green purchase, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control are also found to have positive impacts on purchase intention. The research findings are discussed and implications for managers and policy makers are provided.
