Using Prospect Theory to Explore the Digital Divide

The growing popularity of Internet-based technology in both the public and private sector has led to a disparity known as the digital divide. The digital divide is described as the gap between those who have access to the Internet and other Internet-based technologies and those who do not (Wattal, Hong, Mandviwalla, & Jain, 2011). J. van Dijk (1999) outlines the digital divide as four types of access barriers: material, psychological, skills, and usage. This chapter reviews the four types of access divides and uses prospect theory as a means to highlight the impact of computer anxiety and computer self-efficacy on psychological access. Suggestions for future research are provided.

The purpose of this paper reviews the influence of Vehicle Fleet Management Practices, (VFMP). A systematic review of papers was performed analysing 56 articles from year 2014 to 2021. Vehicle Fleet Management Practices research has garnered interest from both academics and industrialists in both the public and private sector. This is demonstrated by the increasing number of academic papers published in recent years. The article discusses interesting findings, suggests and lays down a number of directions for future research. In addition, limitations of this work are presented. The conclusion of this study provides sufficient evidence on the need for further research addressing the interaction between vehicle fleet management practices and service delivery in public entities.

Privatization refers to the public shares and Assets which are sold to the private sector in the economy. It decreases the power of government control and creates the other policies method. Privatization leads to cutting short the capital and revenue expenditure, which leads to an increase in share value in the market. During the pre-privatization period, the government used to pay less amounts of dividends to its shareholders due to its complex cost structure. Privatization leads to cutting short the capital and revenue expenditure, which leads to an increase in share value in the market. It also gave information about Public and Private sector banks. Our objective is to compare the pre and post-privatization performance like other banks of developing countries shows that privatization resulted in significant gains in profitability and efficiency. To evaluate the impact of privatization in the Indian banking sector and the relationship between privatization and Indian Economic growth by using a case study of IDBI bank condition of Indian private sector banks is analyzed using the financial statement of IDBI Bank with the help of different research methodologies.

This research conducted a survey to examine the impact of procedural justice on turnover intention through mediation of organizational trust. The study is based on a sample of 141 faculty members of the public and private sector universities of twin cities of Pakistan who completed structured questionnaires for each variable. Data were analyzed using SPSS and results revealed that procedural justice has negative and significant effect on turnover intentions of employees. Furthermore, organizational trust successfully mediates the relationship between Procedural justice and Turnover intention. We conclude study, discuss theoretical implications and also provide future recommendations.

Construction companies always attempt to improve their productivity. Trust is the best way to achieve its goal, because it is a very useful way to improve employees and organizational productivity as well as effective strategic plans implementation. In this research, we examine how a trust climate provides a favorable environment for the performance of employees and the development of organizational efficiency and effectiveness. Also, this study has analyzed the trust effects on the performance of employees. The population of this study is private and public sector projects from which a sample of (26) projects in Iraq are chosen. Data are collected and the test of the model is on (140) respondents (project team members and workers) of construction companies in Iraq. The evaluation the concepts data is analyzed by using descriptive statistics, correlation, and regression tests. Hypothesis results indicate a positive relationship between the independent variable and dependent variable. Lastly, research limitations, recommendations for future research, and conclusions are discussed in details.

The foundational goal of civil rights legislation is to reduce discrimination, in both the public and private sector. To understand the levels of perceived discrimination in the federal government, this research note examines 9 years of data reported under the requirements of the Notification and Federal Employee Antidiscrimination and Retaliation Act of 2002 (No FEAR Act). From 2006 to 2014, less than 1% of federal employees filed discrimination complaints each year, and the discrimination complaint rate did not significantly change over the time period. Race, color, and national origin were the most frequently claimed discrimination bases. Approximately half of all complaints alleged retaliation after filing an initial discrimination claim. In addition, federal employees most frequently claimed that discrimination occurred in the context of nonsexual harassment. This research note describes other trends in discrimination claims and proposes directions for future research.

In the context of the economic crisis, the consumers´ behavior registered changes, so tourists have become highly price sensitive and tending to economize on the duration of their holidays. Starting with the changes generated by the economic crisis, the need to achieve a new economic level is felt both in the public sector through the development and consolidation of new public policies and also in the private sector through the involvement into solid plans, with adapted initiatives. The purpose of this paper is to capture the impact of the public and private sectors involvement on the Travel& Tourism (T& T) demand during the current economic crisis, the period 2008-2010. As design, the content is divided into three main parts, as follows: the perspectives of public and private sector on T& T industry, the impact of the economic crisis on T& T, and the econometric analysis which is concentrated on the connection between the T& T demand and some potential variables with impact on it. The methodology refers mainly to the econometric analysis, constructed in concordance with the findings of the paper. In order to test the link between the variables, the author uses the macroeconomic approach, by including into analysis the European Union member countries. Regarding originality, the paper reveals the positive influence, as real growth, of the T& T Direct Industry in GDP and the capital investment in T& T on the T& T demand.

AbstractThe present research examined the perceptions of Australian employees on dimensions of workplace stress. The sample included 664 male (n= 234) and female (n= 430) workers from the public (n= 559) and private (n= 105) sectors. Participants completed the Health and Safety Executive Indicator Tool as a measure of workplace stress. Results indicated that private sector employees rated their employers as being more effective in managing workplace stress, while employees in both sectors rated their employers as less effective in managing Job Content stressors than Job Context stressors. Compared with normative benchmarks, employees overall also reported risks of stress associated with Relationships and Role. Implications of these findings and suggestions for future research were discussed.

The purpose of this article is to examine the differences between public and private sector employees’ public service motivation (PSM) levels and also examine the impact of Islamic work ethic (IWE) as a potential antecedent of PSM in a non-Western setting. This quantitative investigation is based on a sample of 419 employees in 13 public and private organizations in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI). Independent t test results reveal no statistically significant differences in PSM level between public and private sector employees. The analysis of the data also reveals that PSM is significantly influenced by IWE. Implications and avenues for future research are discussed.

This paper approaches the evolution of the final consumption recorded at the level of Albanian economy. According to statistical methodology the public and private consumption are two of the components of the final consumption. The main variable of our study is final consumption, which is set to be influenced by at least two independent variables, such as public and private consumption. Lately, Albanian economy has been presented with a new and different macro economic policy, a new form of partnership of investments between public and private sector. We are highly interested in the impact of these changes on final consumption .The correlation between the main parameter and its influence factors is analyzed through a regression model. Eviews is the software that the data will be processed under standard methods. The model and the results are part of the paper. To be emphasized is that the reliability of the multiple regression model does not exclude the possibility to analyze the single correlation between the parameters, in parallel.

A nationwide sample of executives from business (N = 505) and the federal government (N = 619) provided the database for comparing managerial values across these two sectors. Business and government executives differed in the importance they attached to a variety of organizational goals, stakeholders, and personal traits. They also differed in their outlook on future trends and how they handled tradeoffs between work and personal demands. While there were broad areas of disagreement, also noted were some areas of specific agreement on executives' values across the public and private sector. Implications for organizations and future research are suggested.
