This chapter explores the Vedanta, an ancient Indian religious philosophy; and its relevance to management. Chinmayananda (2003) asserted that from time to time ancient philosophies like Vedanta needs intelligent re-interpretation to apply effectively in the context of modern times. Vedanta recommends a management approach, which focuses on exploring the inner world of the self. It begins with the manager's awareness and development of the self, as the greatness in any field is never achieved without tremendous self-realization and self-discipline (Avinashilingam, 1975). This chapter is based on a qualitative research methodology called hermeneutics, which involves the interpretation of ancient or classical literature and the content analysis of selected verses from the Vedanta (Vedic literatures) especially the Bhagavad-Gita. This chapter provides a framework to study the Indian management from a religious, philosophical and cultural perspective. This will be relevant to Indian managers and foreign managers managing in Indian context.

This paper aims to analyze a pedagogical practice seeking to understand its potential for promoting a critical reflection on the topic of Waste. The practice was developed within the scope of the discipline of Science and Decolonizing Cultures offered in the Remote Teaching model, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, in the Graduate Program in Scientific and Environmental Education of a Federal University. For this, evaluations made by scholarship holders of the Institutional Program of Initiation to Teaching scholarships were taken as data, who after watching the video, answered the following question: what are the positive points and points to be improved in practice. Therefore, this work fits into the Qualitative Research Methodology and the responses were analyzed using Content Analysis and, more specifically, thematic categorization. After the analysis, it was possible to find three categories which are: “Poem as an enhancer of practice”, “Transdisciplinary approach” and “Problematization”. Thus, it is possible to consider that the practice fulfilled its role to promote a critical reflection on the theme of garbage since it was based on Critical Environmental Education and brought art to problematize issues related to the theme, causing contextualized reflections that transcend how the theme is commonly addressed.

The book “Riyadhus Sholihin” is a monumental work written by one of the great scholars who has a high reputation among the Muslims, namely Imam Nawawi. Although the main topic of the book is about encouragement and warningsand also purification of the self, the book also includes themes of faith and oneness of Allah conceptualized by the author in separate chapters accompanied by the arguments from the Qur’an and hadiths, including the Chapters Talqin “al-Muhtadhar” LaaIlaahaIllallah. Then, how is the correlation of the hadiths that he presented with this chapter and with the tawhid uluhiyyah ‘oneness of worship’? This qualitative research paper attempts to answer these questions using the library research method with a content analysis approach. The discussion of this paper is divided into several sub-sections: introduction, brief biography of Imam Nawawi, the meaning of tawhid uluhiyyah, the chapter Talqin and the correlation of the chapter and its arguments with tauhid uluhiyyah, and conclusions, including the following conclusions: (1) Riyadhus Sholihin is not a mere hadith book that discusses the themes of encouragement and warnings and purification of the self, but also contains theme on faith, (2) Imam Nawawi’s foresight in conceptualizing the chapters of the book and selecting related arguments withinthem, (3) The correlation between chapter Talqin "al-Muhtadhar" Laa Ilaaha Illallah and tawhid uluhiyyah is obvious, because LaaIlaahaIllallah is a tawhid propositionwhich content is the obligation to give worship only to Allah, that is the essence of tawhid uluhiyyah, (4) The correlation of two hadiths which arestated in the chapter Talqin "alh-Muhtadhar" Laa Ilaaha Illallah with tawhid uluhiyyahis very firm and clear.

Background: The aim of our study was to investigate the differences in beliefs, attitudes toward CAM, beliefs in afterlife and religiosity among the sample of psychiatrists, psychologists, and theologists. Relationship among these constructs could have impact on the concept of mental health.Subjects and methods: Research was conducted in the Split urban area, Croatia, during 2017 on a sample of psychiatrists (n=51), psychologists (n=55), and theologists (n=25). Participants were presented a figure of the human body, which contained numbers identifying eight different regions of the body. Participants were asked to select which region best represents the location of the self, soul, and mind in the body. We used CAIMAQ (The Complementary, Alternative and Integrative Medicine Attitudes Questionnaire) which contains five subscales. The Afterdeath Beliefs Scale was used to measure the varieties of afterlife beliefs. Analyses showed that applied questionnaires have appropriate reliability and expected factor structure. Results: The most frequent locations of the Soul were 9 (37%, Not located in any centralized region in the body) and 5 (31% chest), whereas Self and Mind were mostly located in the head (43% and 73%). Psychiatrists and psychologists have average scores on positive pole of CAIMAQ but did not differ significantly (p>0.05). There were statistical differences between theologists and psychologists/psychiatrists on two subscales: “nutritional counseling and dietary/food supplements can be effective in the treatment of pathology” and “attitudes toward a holistic understanding of the disease” (p<0.05). There were significant correlations between religion and three CAIMAQ subscales. Although they were mostly religious, psychiatrists and psychologists had a higher averagescore on Annihilation than theologists. They also did not believe in body resurrection and connection between behavior during life and after death. Conclusion: The results of our study could have impact on the concept of mental health and in the future must be deeper evaluated within qualitative research methodology.

Poverty is one of the macroeconomic problems that is a major concern, especially during the current pandemic. This study aims to describe the solutions offered by Islamic philanthropy (ZISWAF) to the problem of poverty caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. This research uses descriptive qualitative research methodology with content analysis techniques (content analysis) and library research. The results showed that ZISWAF is able to be a solution for the community to the problem of poverty that occurs. Efforts to alleviate poverty that can be done are to manage the funds that have been obtained from ZISWAF properly, with productive management. However, there must be some funds provided to the public that are consumptive in nature. If ZISWAF funds are managed properly and are productive, the hope is that these funds will not run out until whenever they are even able to develop so that their use will be bigger and wider. ZISWAF funds which are consumptive in nature will increase the demand and purchasing power of the community, so that the community will be more prosperous. Meanwhile, productive funds are able to increase investment activities and company productivity (business activities) so that it is able to increase the use of full labor (reduce unemployment) and ultimately improve community welfare so that poverty is reduced. This proves that Islamic philanthropy can be a solution to the problem of poverty.

This paper analyzes the act of crime and its artistic rationalization through the character of Balram Halwai in Arvind Adiga’s novel The White Tiger under the theoretical prism of Nietzsche’s Philosophy of Ubermensch. Ubermensch is a hypothetical character proposed by Nietzsche in his masterpiece Thus Spoke Zarathustra who is expected to appear in the future and will possess some unique features like ‘transcendence over society’, ‘creation of new values and master morality’, ‘will to power and achievement’. The character of Balram is analyzed as a fictional Ubermensch under the lens of these features using Content Analysis Technique of Qualitative Research Methodology’ which is considered suitable for the specific descriptive nature and scope of this study. This analysis concludes that the embodiment of such features by Balram justifies his rise as a perfect potential Ubermensch of 21st century who rejects the traditional moral system and builds his own system of morality where crime also seems to be rationalized.
