The study aims to investigate the effectiveness and ineffectiveness of different statistical analysis tools in project management environments. Furthermore, this study focuses on identifying some factors that affect project management by highlighting some commonly used statistical analysis tools and by evaluating ineffective analysis tools. Quantitative data was collected through participant observation, as well as a review of the relevant materials to meet these objectives. Some of the dependent variables that were tested in the study include the project manager's skills, the organization's financial status, and the affordability of the analysis tools. The independent variable is the effectiveness and ineffectiveness of the statistical analysis tools. After collecting and analyzing the data, the study finds that a tool's effectiveness or ineffectiveness depends on the dependent variables, i.e., the project managers' skills, the organization's financial status, etc.

Projects are very important to all organizations, as project managers view various issues in the organization from a higher perspective. The conclusions drawn from these projects determine the base on which various decisions affecting the organizations will be made. This paper introduces the statistical analysis tools used in various project environments to differentiate between the effective and ineffective tools of statistical analysis. Statistical analysis tools are useful in analyzing data collected for a study to be conducted on the same data. The literature review illustrates how statistical analysis tools have been effective and useful to researchers. Over time, more effective statistical tools will be invented that will improve the process of data analysis. The findings on different statistical analysis tools will also be highlighted. Thus, the discussions show the impact, applications, and lessons learned from the statistical analysis tools by the project managers and engineers. The study will also present the limitations, along with the conclusions and recommendations.

The purpose of this study is to examine the risks of using statistical tools in a project basis. A systematic search of certain academic databases has been conducted for this study. Statistical tools could be used in a project, and they should be properly planned and designed. Statistical tools include major activities, such as collecting and analyzing data, providing meaningful interpretation, and reporting findings. When dealing with statistical tools, there are several risks that may exist and impact the project either positively or negatively. This study covers a brief outline of the risk management, statistical tools, and the relationship between the two concepts. Finally, a discussion of the common type of risks that are initiated by using statistical analysis tools are provided, which could be planned, identified, and analyzed in the early stages of the project.

Studies that analyze the actions carried out by paddle tennis players during the point are scarce. The present investigation characterizes every action in which a stroke by a pair in a defensive position sends the ball over the position of a pair in an offensive position. It is a descriptive and observational study of quantitative methodology. The sample consisted of 1324 actions, statistical analysis units, from the women’s circuit in the 2018 World Padel Tour (WPT) season. For this study, various situational, dependent, and independent variables were analyzed. The results showed the number of times the categories of each variable occurred, as well as the significant relationships between the independent variable kind of hit and the dependent variables “actions that facilitate the possible change of position” (AFPCP) and “incidences in the game” (IG). The conclusion is that the lob is the most effective kind of hit (CSR = 4.9) to achieve the offensive position (CSR = 11.4), even if the point does not finish (CSR = 5.8), leading to more position exchanges during the same point in the AFPCP. These findings are of great interest since they give information about how and why certain behaviors produce a certain result.

Aim: The comparative analysis of the level and dynamic of the indicator of alcohol-related problems in Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. Methods: A comparative analysis of the trends in alcohol sales (independent variable) and mortality from acute alcohol poisonings, incidence of alcohol psychoses (dependent variables) in Russia Ukraine and Belarus in the period from 1980 to 2010 was carried out. Statistical analysis (Spearman’s correlation, linear regression) was carried out using the STATISTICA 10 package. Results: The data analysis showed that in the soviet period the level of alcohol sales correlated closely with the indirect indicators of alcohol-related problems in all countries. In the post-soviet period the level of alcohol sales statistically significant correlated with the incidence of alcoholic psychoses in Russia and mortality from acute alcohol poisonings in Belarus. Conclusions: The findings from present study suggest that the alcohol-related problems fluctuations in Russia, Belarus and Ukraine in the soviet period were attributable to alcohol sales. Alternatively, alcohol sales cannot fully explain the fluctuations in the alcohol-related morbidity and mortality observed in these countries in the soviet period.

The purpose of this paper is to examine the socio-technical structures prevailing in technical organizations. It explores relationships that exist between technical and social structures and imperative project management practices, using statistical techniques. The study investigates links between organization design structures, project management performance, multiple dimensions of project managers’ competencies including personal, business knowledge, interpersonal and managerial competencies and project performance. A systematic teardown approach was adopted for the analysis of various competencies. The statistical analysis technique, ANOVA (Analysis of Variance) was conducted to validate various factors. The results of statistical analysis has shown that organization design structures are not the major determinants, only organizational design structures with functionally structured resource distributions are established as determinants of project management performance. Furthermore, it was proven that the project managers’ competencies have a major influence on project performance. This study will help to improve performance of technical projects and will lay a foundation for the framework of improvement and development of organizations.

This paper examines the work of project managers in two UK-based translation companies. Drawing on participant observation, interviews, and artifacts from field sites, our analysis focuses on the ways in which trust is developed and maintained in the relationships that project managers build, on the one hand, with the clients who commission them to undertake translation projects, and, on the other, with freelance translators who perform the translation work. The project manager’s ability both to confer and to instill trust is highlighted as key to the successful operation of the company. Conceptualizing trust as a dynamic process, we consider what this process of trusting entails in this context: positive expectations vis-à-vis the other parties; willingness to expose oneself to vulnerabilities; construction of bases for suspending doubts and uncertainties (leaps of faith). We observe the important role of communication and discursive strategies in building and maintaining trust and draw conclusions for translator education.

Project Managers (PMs) working in competitive markets are finding Project Management Information Systems (PMISs) useful for planning, organizing and controlling projects of varying complexity. A wide variety of PMIS software is available, suitable for projects differing in scope and user needs. This paper identifies the most useful features found in PMISs. An extensive literature review and analysis of commercial software is made to identify the main features of PMISs. Afterwards, the list is reduced by a panel of project management experts, and a statistical analysis is performed on data acquired by means of two different surveys. The relative importance of listed features is properly computed, and the interactions between the respondent’s profiles and PMIS features are also investigated by cluster and respondents’ analyses. The paper provides information for researchers and practitioners interested in PMISs packages and their applications. Furthermore, the analyses may help practitioners when choosing a PMIS, and also for developers of PMISs software in understanding user needs.
