This study aims to clarify how the quality of the family environment is related to the involvement in cyberbullying behaviors, either as a cyber-victim or as a cyber-aggressor, via a cross-sectional research design. With this purpose a diagnostic questionnaire with questions about both the quality of family environment and cyberbullying was conceived and administered to 3525 adolescents attending 6th, 8th and 11th grades at several schools in Portugal. The results suggested that two family aspects seem to be equally important in protection against cyberbullying: perception of family support and perception of rules within the family. A hierarchical regression analysis reveals that lack of family support is more predictive of cyber-victimization and that a lack of family rules is more predictive of cyber-aggression. The authors discuss the implications for the well-being of adolescents, as well as the challenges that parents face in the supervision of adolescents' use of digital technologies.

This paper considers Family Support as a fundamental right of the child. It examines the relationship between the well-being of the child as the core concept of contemporary legal and welfare systems and family as a vital institution in society for the protection, development and ensuring the overall well-being of the child. Considering the fact that international legal standards recognise that children’s rights are best met in the family environment, the paper analyses what kind of support is being provided to families by the modern societies in the exercising of children’s rights and with what rhetoric and outcomes. Family Support is also considered as a specific, theoretically grounded and empirically tested practical approach to exercising and protecting the rights of the child. Finally, international legal standards are observed in the context of contemporary theory and practice of Family Support, while the conclusion provides the implications of such an approach.

Introduction: The early years of a child’s life are marked by a significant development, as well as high sensitivity to environmental influences such as poverty, housing, quality and family structure. Thus, the identification of environmental risk factors and delayed neurodevelopment, coupled with early intervention, are essential for an healthy development. Objective: To analyze the effect of environmental factors on the neuropsychomotor development of children in the Amazon community. Methods: This is a quantitative and qualitative study of analytical and cross-sectional approach with 50 children between 24 and 36 months of age, of both sexes, living in an Amazonian community. Two types of the socio-economic-environmental questionnaire were used; a) Infant/Toddler (IT) HOME Inventory to analyze the quality of the family environment; b) the Denver Screening Test II for screening neurodevelopment. Also, a descriptive analysis was performed using a calculation of means and standard deviations. Results: The study found that a significant majority of the children had normal neuropsychomotor development; however, children classified as delayed, the more significant impact variable in the development was the quality of the family environment, which in turn was influenced by the lower economic class, lack of water treatment, lack of electricity and external toilet. Conclusion: Environmental factors were not significant on the neuropsychomotor development of the local children of the Amazon community.

The aim of the article is to raise the issue of the importance of family support in children with behavioral and emotional disorders. It notes that it is the environment that has a huge impact on the formation and becoming of the child. This is because it is in the family that the foundations of the human personality are built. In a favorable environment, they should create beauty in life, balance of spirit, a sense of security. But the family environment would have an educational effect only if the child is actively involved in it. It is the first "experimental field" for human life. The inclusion of the child in the family environment and his upbringing in moral virtues is one of the practical ways for his socialization. Unfortunately, many families fail to provide emotional support to adolescents, fail to create this psychological comfort and security. Disruption of this emotional connection with parents, lack of emotional support can easily lead to serious damage to the psyche of a child and this can easily lead to irreversible consequences in behavior and emotional development and its formation. Problematic children are usually the result of family conflicts, lack of parental love, upbringing in cruelty, rudeness and inconsistency in parental actions. Children almost always absorb not only the positive but also the negative patterns of behavior coming from the parents. It is unrealistic and ineffective for parents to demand exemplary behavior from their children if they themselves are not carriers of it. The future of the child also depends on the example and the educational impact of the parents. Very often in the hectic daily life of us adults we do not have time to pay enough attention to the emotional and behavioral development of our children. We often forget that the behavioral and emotional disorders of some children are a cry for help, which unfortunately is often misunderstood by others. If left unnoticed by adults, these negatives can take root in the form of various feelings in the minds of adolescents and have a negative impact on their mental and emotional development and well-being, and lead to serious behavioral and emotional dysfunctions.

Health-related quality of life, teachers’ opinion of academic performance and self-perceived health are indicators of well-being in the adolescent stage. Some variables, such as those related to the quality of family and parental relationships, may influence these indicators and thus condition well-being during this stage of life and beyond. In this research, the aforementioned variables are analyzed jointly. It is a cross-sectional study in which 1375 adolescent schoolchildren between 11 and 18 years of age participated. Different instruments such as KIDSCREEN-10 and the questionnaire used in the international study Health Behaviour in School-Aged Children were used. The results obtained allow us to conclude that HRQoL, the teacher’s opinion of performance and the perception of health status improve as adolescents perceive a more favorable family climate, also helped by good relations between parents. Finally, it is proposed to continue with the efforts made in the school, family environment and other areas because of the enormous potential for generating quality of life in the adolescent stage and the consequent positive repercussions this has on adulthood.

Abstract. To date, few studies have focused on perceived overprotection from the perspective of people with dementia (PwD). In the present examination, the association of perceived overprotection in PwD is examined as an autonomy-restricting factor and thus negative for their mental well-being. Cross-sectional data from the prospective DYADEM study of 82 patient/partner dyads (mean age = 74.26) were used to investigate the association between overprotection, perceived stress, depression, and quality of life (QoL). The analyses show that an overprotective contact style with PwD has a significant positive association with stress and depression, and has a negative association with QoL. The results emphasize the importance of avoiding an overprotective care style and supporting patient autonomy.
