Mobile telephony networks have seen a high rate of adoption worldwide in recent years. However, these networks do not exist everywhere, and even where they are, their adoption is lagging. Especially in uncovered rural areas, it is difficult to predict the technology's acceptance and adoption factors. This study deals with the usage gap of mobile telephone networks and attempts in a methodological approach based on structural equation modeling to prevent the telephone usage gap in rural Africa yet to be covered. To that purpose, the authors use a research model based on the technology acceptance model (TAM) and the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT). By combining these two models and incorporating the moderating effects of demographic variables such as age, gender, education, and experience of technology use, this paper has retained a model with the ability to determine how rural residents will accept and use future networks.

Flipped learning empowers learners to take an engaging role in learning while educators assist the learning process. The employment of flipped learning has been confirmed to enhance the teaching and learning of English as a second language in previous studies. This study aimed to explore the application of the unified theory of technology acceptance and use of technology towards ESL lecturers’ intention to use flipped learning. This study used a quantitative research framework where a set of online questionnaires was used in collecting the data. A total of 206 English as a second language lecturers from four different universities participated in this study. The data were analyzed using structural equation modeling. The result of this study indicates that only social influence is significant in predicting English as a second language lecturers’ intention to use the flipped learning approach. Furthermore, this study enriches the literature on 21st century education and the integration of technology in teaching and learning. In addition, this study could help educators and stakeholders in adapting or enhancing the flipped learning approach by distinguishing the distinct predictors of technology acceptance.

Smart City Mobile Apps is currently being developed by property developers in major cities in Indonesia and is used by businesses to market their products through the application. The method used to see how well the implementation of digital marketing in Smart City Mobile Apps is to combine the TAM (Technology Acceptance Model) and UTAUT (Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology) models. Questionnaire data were processed using the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) method. The results of the study stated that the company's digital marketing strategy through Smart City Mobile Apps is already good where it can be seen from the value of adoption of Smart City Mobile Apps users in utilizing this application which is quite large at 0.764 based on the coefficient of determination. The variable that most influences consumers to use applications in finding trade information in the Smart City is the attitude variable with an influence value of 0.412 and the behavior intention to use with an influence value of 0.726. This shows that the intention behavior of the application and the trust in the benefits of the application can encourage users to use this application for purchasing their daily needs.

The implementation of patient portal systems (PPS) has potential benefits to both healthcare providers and their patients. However, evidence shows that PPS are being resisted by patients. Little research in IS has addressed this phenomenon. To understand PPS resistance, this study uses the dual factor model of IT usage to develop an integration of the user resistance model (URM) with the universal theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT). Survey data were used to test the integrative model. A total of 265 responses were gathered from patients at a large international hospital. The data were analyzed using structural equation modeling (EQM). The results revealed resistance to change as an inhibitor to intentions to use the PPS. This study demonstrated the importance of integrating resistance to change with the technology use research, especially in healthcare settings. Moreover, this study is considered to be among the few studies in IS to incorporate patients' perspectives regarding new healthcare technology.

PurposeNotwithstanding the dynamics of digital transformation and its relevance for revenue generation in the entertainment industry, empirical research that focused on consumer behavior at the intersection of sport content and media technology acceptance is limited. Virtual reality (VR) is a re-emerging and nowadays commercially available technology that impacts sport consumed through media. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the consumer acceptance of VR technology and highlight the effects of content quality and flow experience as influencing factors of behavioral intention.Design/methodology/approachBased on a literature review, the authors constructed and empirically tested a model that extends the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT2) by considering additional antecedent factors. Participants (N=570) in the empirical study viewed sport content via VR technology (Sport VR) and completed a survey before and after viewing. The authors conducted factor analysis and structural equation modeling.FindingsThree UTAUT2 influencing factors, i.e., performance expectancy, social influence and hedonic motivation, showed significant effects. Furthermore, flow and content quality had positive indirect effects. Thus, the quality of sport content and the state of flow that users experience when immersed in a VR environment are relevant factors that determine the performance expectations of consumers and their Sport VR usage intention.Originality/valueThis empirical study contributes to knowledge on consumer acceptance of a hedonic technology in a sport media context. Moreover, two factors extended the established UTAUT2 model.

This paper seeks to explore factors that determine the university student’s acceptance and adoption behavior towards online education platforms in Saudi Arabia (SA) during the COVID-19 pandemic. The research relied mainly on two theories: Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT), and the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). Five different constructs were utilized from those theories to investigate the university student’s intention toward using online education platforms. The proposed model and its five hypotheses were tested by conducting a quantitative survey across social media to university students from different regions around SA. For the model validity, the measurement model was analyzed using a structural equation modeling technique applied using SmartPLS software. The survey sample consisted of 708 university students in different regions of SA. The analysis results show that Performance Expectancy (PE) and Facilitating Conditions (FC) affect students’ Attitude toward Using (ATU) and that ATU positively affects Behavioral Intention (BI). Nevertheless, Effort Expectancy (EE) is not significantly related to ATU. Thus, the level of difficulty in using the online education platform is not an effective determinant factor that would change the student’s attitude.

<p>This paper examined the impact of coupon proneness and redemption efforts on the intention to redeem or use mobile coupons from the smartphones in a sample of business students at Florida National University. The descriptive analysis, which was based on the Theory of Reasoned Action, Theory of Plan Behavior, Acquisition-Transaction Utility Theory, Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology, and The Technology Acceptance Model Theory, used the coupon proneness, redemption efforts and the intention to redeem or use mobile coupons scales adapted to mobile coupons setting. Structural equation modeling revealed two subcomponents of the coupon proneness (coupon propensity and enjoyment) and high and significant values of coupon propensity and enjoyment on the intention to redeem or use mobile coupons for the groups of students. However, the impact of redemption efforts on the intention to redeem or use mobile coupons was negative as expected, but weak and not significant.</p>

The construct in technology acceptance mode is perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, attitude towards behavior, behavioral intention, and actual technology use. Hypothesis test used structural equation modeling (SEM). By testing the validity and reliability, Model fit criteria, Output Laten Variable coefficients, Output Indirect and total Effects, seven hypothesis which would be examined, five hypothesis are accepted and two hypothesis are rejected.</em></p>

Nowadays, the advance of the internet and mobile technologies have changed our daily life, not only in terms of consumption but in how business is done. Social media has been recognized as one of the potential online platforms for entrepreneurs especially in small and medium business establishments to cope with large corporations. This study aims to investigate elements affecting social media adoption for business purposes by adopting a well-known technology acceptance model—the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT). The data of 196 samples were collected via online questionnaires in Thailand using the structural equation modeling (SEM) technique employed to verify the proposed model with empirical data. The outcomes illustrate the performance and effort expectancy and social influence significantly influence behavior prospects to implement social media for business purposes. Facilitating conditions significantly contribute to affecting actual user behavior. Also, the authors investigated the moderating effect of all demographic and behavioral factors such as gender, age, daily spent time on social media, and entrepreneur status. The results of the one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) analysis show that there are immense variances in the intention of social media behavior and use behavior due to age. Younger adults tend to be more adept with user behavior and behavioral intention more than older adults.

Objective: The present study aim to find out the factors that has an influence and impacts the actual use of e-Health during post COVID-19 pandemic on the lines of TAM (technology acceptance model) and further suggest ways for effective implementation and adoption of e-Health by the rural patients. Design & Setting: The study was conducted on a total of 243 rural patients who had experienced e-Health services. Structural Equation Modeling has been used for analysis of data. Results: The analysis revealed that ‘perceived usefulness’, ‘perceived ease of use’, ‘privacy’ and ‘trust’, all had considerable impact on the ‘intention to use’ which further significantly  impacts the ‘actual use’. Conclusion: Using in-depth interviews, both patients and physicians, practice of evidence-based e-Health interventions was identified for effective implementation and adoption of e-Health, which further helps to provides an equitable healthcare services to both urban and rural population.
