The calculation and analysis of single pile settlement was one of the important geotechnical engineering issues, and many geotechnical engineers and scholars investigated and formed a systematic analysis method. Among the existing methods of analysis methods, the elasticity theory method was relatively mature. However, the traditional elasticity theory method could not consider the slip properties between pile and soil, and did not match the actual working properties of pile foundation. In this paper, based on Mindlin's solution, the pile is assumed to be elastic and the relationship between shear stress and relative displacement at the pile-soil interface is assumed to follow hyperbolic function, then series equations were derived and solved by Finite Difference Method. Two cases were demonstrated and the computed results agreed very well with testing data. The advantage of the analysis method proposed was that the interaction of pile and pile, and pile and soil can be considered.

On the basis of analyzing the occurring mechanism of pile skin friction, pile-soil relative displacement difference function is introduced, and the differential equation which depicts the relationship between pile skin friction and depth is derived, then the calculating model of pile skin friction with depth is established under considering the displacement-interaction process. Field monitoring data are employed to verify the rationality and validity of the model proposed. Through the established model, influences, exerted by pile-soil relative displacement difference, on the pile skin friction distribution are discussed and divided into three stages: I. stage of linear increase; II. stage of nonlinear increase; III. stage of convergence. Filed testing data comparing and theoretical analysis results indicate that the method proposed can describe the transferring process as well as the distribution law of pile skin friction under taking the pile-soil interaction into account, the parameters related and needed can be easily obtained, and the model suggested in this paper is of value in pile theory and engineering.

The concept of entrepreneurial orientation, which emerges with the development of strategic management, refers to entrepreneurship orientations of businesses. The businesses need resources in other words organizational slack in order to develop their entrepreneurial trends. The organizational slack consists of three slack type. These slack types are available slack, recoverable slack and potential slack. The purpose of this study is to examine whether organizational slack in the businesses has an effect on entrepreneurial orientation. The relationship between organizational slack and entrepreneurial orientation was investigated through 20 companies that were traded in Borsa Istanbul Corporate Governance Index for 2010-2014 period using panel data analysis method. The results of the study indicate the existence of a statistically significant relationship between and the available slack and the recoverable slack with the entrepreneurial orientation in the businesses. According to findings; there was no statistically significant relationship between potential slack and entrepreneurial orientation.

The goal of the research is to develop an experimental mathematical model of pan coating process effect on the biodegradable polymer and to determine optimal process parameters. The polymer solution was conducted with phosphated di-starch phosphate, polyvinyl alcohol, and polyacrylic acid and performed as material coating for the controlled-release urea fertilizer. The image analysis method has been used to determine the particle size distribution, Sauter mean diameter of the particle and layer thickness that is novel. The central composite rotatable design has been selected to determine the regression models of the process, which described the relationship between two objective variables as layer thickness, release time with angle of pan, spray flow, and coating time. The statistical analysis results indicate the fitness of model.

Interaction and wear between wheel and rail become increasingly serious with the increase in elevator speed and load. Uneven roller surface, eccentricity of rollers, and the looseness of rail brackets result in serious vibration problems of high-speed and super-high-speed elevators. Therefore, the forced vibration differential equation representing elevator guide rails is established based on Bernoulli–Euler theory, and the vibration equation of the elevator guide shoes and the car is constructed using the Darren Bell principle. Then, the coupled vibration model of guide rail, guide shoes, and car can be obtained using the relationship of force and relative displacement among these components. The roller–rail parameters are introduced into the established coupled vibration model using the model equivalent method. Then, the influence of roller–rail parameters on the horizontal vibration of super-high-speed elevator cars is investigated. Roller eccentricity and the vibration acceleration of the car present a linear correlation, with the amplitude of the car vibration acceleration increasing with the eccentricity of the roller. A nonlinear relationship exists between the surface roughness of the roller and the vibration acceleration of the car. Increased continuous loosening of the guide rail results in severe vibration of the car at the loose position of the support.

By means of the fountain-convergence analysis method of FRRU (Flow Resistance-Rigidity Uniformity) index defined by the author, evidential comparison analysis study has been made to the relationship between flexible drift of flow performance of WTD (Weight Type Distributor) valves of fuel nozzles of X engine and hot-end failures of X engine. The results show that during the initial period of engine start, because of the relative scarcity of air in the combustor, a convergence characteristic, due to its converging flow property ofmultiple to one, can lead to such hot-end failures as turbine blade fusion break which is characterized byabrupt change, while a fountain characteristic, due to its diffusing flow property ofone tomultiple, cannot result in any hot-end failures.

The endoplasmic reticulum (ER) maintains an environment essential for secretory protein folding. Consequently, the premature transport of polypeptides would be harmful to the cell. To avert this scenario, mechanisms collectively termed “ER quality control” prevent the transport of nascent polypeptides until they properly fold. Irreversibly misfolded molecules are sorted for disposal by the ER-associated degradation (ERAD) pathway. To better understand the relationship between quality control and ERAD, we studied a new misfolded variant of carboxypeptidase Y (CPY). The molecule was recognized and retained by ER quality control but failed to enter the ERAD pathway. Systematic analysis revealed that a single, specific N-linked glycan of CPY was required for sorting into the pathway. The determinant is dependent on the putative lectin-like receptor Htm1/Mnl1p. The discovery of a similar signal in misfolded proteinase A supported the generality of the mechanism. These studies show that specific signals embedded in glycoproteins can direct their degradation if they fail to fold.

The interaction of quality management and knowledge management are analyzed quite widely in scientific literature and discussed with reference to various models integrating these two management theories. However, there are not enough precise tools that could provide a possibility of improving the quality of products and services through knowledge management. To this end, the article examines the already existing models for the interaction between quality management and knowledge management. The results of a survey on Lithuanian industry show what organizational knowledge is the most important while implementing quality management principles aimed at improving quality. The correlation analysis method showed the relationship between quality management principles (process approach, continual improvement, management, facts) and the factors defining the product and process quality (the extent of determining process execution time, process resources, costs of process stages, indicators for products and/or services, the duration of the process, the extent of measuring indicators, the extent of collecting information on indicators, the extent of collecting information about the costs of the process). Santrauka Kokybės vadybos ir žinių vadybos sąveika mokslinėje literatūroje analizuojama gana plačiai, aptariami įvairūs sąveikos modeliai integruojant šias dvi vadybos teorijas. Tačiau nepakankamai nagrinėjamos konkrečios priemonės, kuriomis būtų galima pagerinti produktų ir paslaugų kokybę pasitelkiant žinių vadybą. Tuo tikslu straipsnyje analizuojami jau egzistuojantys kokybės vadybos ir žinių vadybos sąveikos modeliai bei pateikiami Lietuvos pramonės įmonių tyrimo rezultatai, parodantys, kokios organizacinės žinios svarbiausios įgyvendinant kokybės vadybos principus, skirtus kokybei gerinti. Taikant koreliacinės analizės metodą nustatyta, kad egzistuoja ryšys tarp kokybės vadybos principų (procesinio požiūrio, nuolatinio gerinimo, valdymo remiantis faktais) įgyvendinimo lygio ir veiksnių, apibūdinančių produktų ir procesų kokybę (procesų įvykdymo laiko nustatymas, procesų išteklių nustatymas, procesų etapų išlaidų nustatymas, produktų ir (ar) paslaugų rodiklių nustatymas, rodiklių matavimas, rodiklių informacijos rinkimas, informacijos apie proceso trukmę nustatymas ir informacijos apie proceso išlaidas rinkimas).

AbstractThe small punch test (SPT) was developed for situations where source material is scarce, costly or otherwise difficult to acquire, and has been used for assessing components with variable, location-dependent material properties. Although lacking standardization, the SPT has been employed to assess material properties and verified using traditional testing. Several methods exist for equating SPT results with traditional stress–strain data. There are, however, areas of weakness, such as fracture and fatigue approaches. This document outlines the history and methodologies of SPT, reviewing the body of contemporary literature and presenting relevant findings and formulations for correlating SPT results with conventional tests. Analysis of literature is extended to evaluating the suitability of the SPT for use with additively manufactured (AM) materials. The suitability of this approach is shown through a parametric study using an approximation of the SPT via FEA, varying material properties as would be seen with varying AM process parameters. Equations describing the relationship between SPT results and conventional testing data are presented. Correlation constants dictating these relationships are determined using an accumulation of data from the literature reviewed here, along with novel experimental data. This includes AM materials to assess the fit of these and provide context for a wider view of the methodology and its interest to materials science and additive manufacturing. A case is made for the continued development of the small punch test, identifying strengths and knowledge gaps, showing need for standardization of this simple yet highly versatile method for expediting studies of material properties and optimization.
