Prediction analysis is the prerequisite and basis of decision-making. Regression analysis is one of quantitative forecasting methods for prediction and forecasting of the variable change based on causality. Regression analysis can be adopted to build mathematical models for prediction analysis for the product output and cost, the product sales, the economic benefits of every product line, etc. This paper studies the enterprises production and business operation activities by using linear regression analysis method, with some practical examples to illustrate the solution with application of MATLAB software.

Abstract The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between the efficiency of agricultural production and selected parameters of farms and data describing the flow of nutrients on the farms. An analysis model was developed for nitrogen management on farms specializing in livestock production. The study was conducted on 20 farms located in 12 municipalities of the Mazowieckie province in central Poland in 2009.2012. The model was developed using multiple linear regression analysis in accordance with the backward stepwise method. Based on the regression analysis, the farm parameters that did not determine the dependent variable were eliminated. In the end, there were 10 independent variables included in the model. The model indicates that the efficiency of nitrogen management, expressed in cereal units per 1 kg of nitrogen (CU·kg-1 N), is significantly affected by: crop rotation, the demand for purchasing animal feed, the intensity of livestock production, the nitrogen content of farmyard manure, the nitrogen doses applied in mineral and natural fertilizers, and nitrogen outflow from farms with the sale of plant and animal products. The developed model explains 70% of the variation in the coefficient of efficiency expressed in cereal units per 1 kg N.

Climate change is one of serious threats to the agricultural sector. In North Sumatra Province, climate change is characterized by shorter rainy season with higher rainfall. To overcome such climate change, it is necessary to provide irrigation that can accommodate excessive rain water and distribute it in times of shortage. Therefore, changes in rainfall will not be too influential on productivity. This is especially important for plants that need a lot of water like rice. To analyze the influence of irrigation in North Sumatra Province, the data were collected from 27 regencies/cities in 2011 – 2015 and were analyzed using a Simple Linear Regression analysis model. The estimation results show that irrigation can push the productivity variances. The irrigation regression coefficient of -0.133432 shows that each increase of irrigation area by 1% will decrease the productivity variation by 0.13 tons/ha

This study aims to analyze the patterns of Muslim consumption behaviors in the Ramadhan month around Jambi. A multiple linear regression analysis model is used to see the factors influencing the consumption behaviors. The finding shows that cultural and religiosity variables are the dominant factors influencing the pattern of Muslim consumption behaviors in the Ramadhan month. From the statistic results of SPSS verse 22, it was found the coefficient of determination (adjusted R2) obtained at 0.164. (16.4%). It reflects that 16.4% of consumption patterns influencing by the Cultural, Social, Religiusity and Psychology variables while the remaining 83.6% consumption patterns are influenced by unnecessary variables in this research.

Abstract Background and Aims Patients undergoing hemodialysis (HD) treatment usually have a low intake of food groups rich in dietary fiber to avoid hyperkalemia. However, dietary potassium is not associated with serum potassium or hyperkalemia in recent studies, and higher intake of fiber food groups such as fruits and vegetables is associated with lower mortality and other complications in HD populations. This multicenter cross-sectional study aimed to investigate the frequency of intake of dietary fiber sources, its determinants, and the relationship with hyperkalemia in HD patients. Method Prevalent HD patients from four dialysis clinics in Southern Brazil were invited to participate (at least 80% of eligible patients from each clinic). Patients were interviewed by the researchers and answered a food frequency questionnaire (FFQ) with the main dietary fiber sources (fruits, vegetables, legumes, whole grains cereals and seeds) with seven frequency possibilities (from never to more than twice a day). To estimate the weekly frequency of intake, answers were transformed into a score. Every score point corresponded to one time per week (ex.: score 7 = seven times per week). The sum of the five scores was calculated to determine the total score. Demographical and laboratory data were obtained from medical records. Univariate analysis was used to assess total score associations, and the variables with P<0.20 were included in the regression analysis model. Results 305 HD patients were included (male: 51%; age: 52.2 ± 14.7 years old; HD vintage: 46 (19 – 82) months; hyperkalemia: 29%). Median (interquartile) FFQ scores were: fruits: 6 (2-14); vegetables: 6 (3-10); legumes: 3 (1-7); whole-grain: 0 (0-1) and seeds: 0 (0-0). Total score was 19 (14-28) and correlated with age (r=0.15; P=0.01), HD vintage (r=-0.22; P=<0.001) and body mass index (BMI) (r=0.15; P=0.007). Patients with diabetes had a higher total score (22 (15-31) versus 18 (13-27) P=0.03). Only the vegetables score correlated with serum potassium (r=0.17; P=0.03) and no difference was found between dietary fiber food groups scores and total score with hyperkalemia. The linear regression analysis model also included gender and education (years at school) (all with P<0.20 in the univariate analysis). The independent predictors of dietary fiber total score were age (OR=0.1 (95%IC 0.01-0.20);P=0.04), HD vintage (month) (OR=-0.03 (95%IC -0.06 - -0.01);P=0.02) and years at school (OR=0.27 (95%IC 0.85-0.46);P=0.005). Conclusion The usual frequency of intake of fiber sources was low, and its independent determinants were age, HD vintage and education. The lack of association with hyperkalemia suggests that other dietary sources and clinical factors should be considered to manage hyperkalemia in this population.

This study used linear regression analysis model to explore chilled water system of central air conditioning for energy saving of cooling water pump based on frequency conversion control of pumped. Research and analysis is divided two phases, the first phase is recording approach temperature and load rate (PLR; Partial Load Ratio) of cooling tower in variable frequency operational mode, then using linear regression analysis model to built the power consumption equation (KW/RT) of cooling water pump. Second phase will be to non-variable frequency operation modes to establish the same relationship equation, and then will be used the first phase record data that its wet bulb temperature and cooling towers PLR limits are in accordance with the second phase of the same range conditions, you can explore the power consumption difference of cooling water pump in variable frequency and non-variable frequency operational mode.Through this research and analysis, was informed that power consumption model error rate of less than 1%, also informed that variable frequency operational mode than non-variable frequency operational mode can save 782.8 kW (19.64%) in the quadratic regression analysis results. In three times regression analysis results can be saved 919.38 kW (22.3%). Accordingly, the present research findings and theoretical models can be used as cooling water pump energy saving, also can serve as the theoretical basis for other energy saving.
