This study is aimed to investigate the trend of financial performances and the difference of Islamicity Performance Ratioamong Islamic banks in Indonesia during 2011-2014. The quantitative approach of purposive sampling is used as the research method. The data collected frombank’s annual financial statements (2011-2014) used as sample: Bank Syariah Mandiri, Bank Muamalat Indonesia, Bank BNI Syariah and BRI Syariah. The data collected then analyzed using the trend analysis and ANOVA. Six variables: PSR, ZPR, EDR, DEWR, IIR and IsIR, are used as proxies for Islamicity Performance Ratio.Trend analysis shows that BRI Syariah has better PSR, ZPR, EDR, IsIR compared to other banks except for DEWR. IIR of Bank Muamalat is the best among others. Comparative analysis shows there are differences of Islamicity Performance Ratioamong Islamic banks in terms of PSR, EDR and DEWR, nevertheless there is no difference in terms of ZPR, IIR and IsIR.

The difference between evaluatively loaded and evaluatively neutralized five-factor inventory items was used to create new variables, one for each factor in the five-factor model. Study 1 showed that these variables can be represented in terms of a general evaluative factor which is related to social desirability measures and indicated that the factor may equally well be represented as separate from the Big Five as superordinate to them. Study 2 revealed an evaluative factor in self-ratings and peer ratings of the Big Five, but the evaluative factor in self-reports did not correlate with such a factor in ratings by peers. In Study 3 the evaluative factor contributed above the Big Five in predicting work performance, indicating a substance component. The results are discussed in relation to measurement issues and self-serving biases.

Abstract: This research is a comparative literary study that uses Malay and Javanese versions of Mahabarata text sources. The research objects used were the text edition of Pandhawa Gubah (PG) by Sudibjo Z. Hadisutjipto and the text of Cheritera Pandawa Lima (CPL) by Khalid Hussain. The research method used is descriptive-analysis method. In the comparative study used a comparative literary theory proposed by Endraswara (2011). The results of the text comparison reveal the similarities and differences in the image of Bima figures in the Javanese and Malay versions. The equation as a whole is that both texts contain the same heroic storyline and heroic character, Bima. In addition, Indian influence is still evident in the two texts seen from the nuances of Hinduism that exist in both texts. While the difference is seen in the events that accompany Bima's struggle in achieving his victory. Based on these similarities and differences, it can be seen that the authors attempt to represent the concept of metaphysical interactions vertically and horizontally expressed through PG text.

Abstract Along with mastery of the grammar and vocabulary of a given language, contemporary students are also expected to acquire intercultural communicative competence (ICC), i.e., the ability to use the language efficiently with regard to the sociocultural background of the communicative situation. This requirement should also be reflected in FL course-books, which are considered to be fundamental didactic tools in FL education, even in an era of information communication technologies. Therefore, the aim of the present paper is to report the results of the research focused on the investigation of intercultural component in the New Opportunities Pre-Intermediate and Intermediate course-book packages. To validate the findings of the content analysis, as the main research method, the method of triangulation was used, i.e., the results of the course-book package analyses were compared with those of observation and interview analyses. The findings of the research revealed that in the investigated course-book packages only some aspects of the intercultural component could be considered relevant because they were suitably treated.

We present a quantitative model, called metric hybrid automata, for quantifying the behaviors of complex physical systems, such as chemical reaction control systems, manufacturing systems etc. Due to the introduction of a metric, the state space of hybrid automata forms a metric space, in which the difference of states can be quantified. Furthermore, in order to reveal the distance of system behaviors, we construct the simulation distance and the bisimulation distance, which quantify the similarity of system behaviors. Our model provides the basis for quantitative analysis for those complex physical systems.

Most existing commercial real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) instruments are bulky because they contain expensive fluorescent detection sensors or complex optical structures. In this paper, we propose an RT-PCR system using a camera module for smartphones that is an ultra small, high-performance and low-cost sensor for fluorescence detection. The proposed system provides stable DNA amplification. A quantitative analysis of fluorescence intensity changes shows the camera’s performance compared with that of commercial instruments. Changes in the performance between the experiments and the sets were also observed based on the threshold cycle values in a commercial RT-PCR system. The overall difference in the measured threshold cycles between the commercial system and the proposed camera was only 0.76 cycles, verifying the performance of the proposed system. The set calibration even reduced the difference to 0.41 cycles, which was less than the experimental variation in the commercial system, and there was no difference in performance.

Abstract. We applied a computation method of calculating the sky view factor (SVF) using Google Street View to Shibuya area, Tokyo, for the purpose of examining the relation between the SVF/SVF change and physical elements. The distribution of the SVF calculated by the above method was visualized, and the statistical process showed the tendency of a high SVF in quasi-residential districts and roadsides of high-graded trunk roads. The difference in the SVF change was small at 10-m intervals. The SVF change tended to be more apparent near an intersection and at different elevations.
