The importance of visits to newcomers as part of the work programme of the parish minister In the current theological literature about parish-visiting, a gap is identified with regard to the importance of visiting newcomers in a congregation. With this in mind an empirical study was undertaken to evaluate the matter in actual practice. The starting point (hypothesis) of this study is: Visits to newcomers is a very important facet of any parish minister's work.  Such visits can help to establish a pastoral relationship between minister and member which is essential for the minister's pastoral and other work in the congregation. By means of an empirical study the above-mentioned hypothesis was tested and a preliminary theory with regard to the importance of visitation to newcomers was formulated. After  this theory has been tested against the directives of Scripture, a proposal is made for a new theory to underpin the practice within the Nederduitsch Hervormde Kerk van Afrika.

Following the continuing general decline of institutional religion across the Western world, scholars have increasingly turned their attention to the emergence of various types of, less conventionally organized, post-institutional forms of religion. Post-institutional religious spaces have, however, often proven difficult to pin down and grasp empirically through already available frameworks and concepts. This article aims to provide an impetus for further methodological discussion on the empirical study of post-institutional religious spaces through re-contextualizing the framework of scene for the study of post-institutional religious spaces in actual practice. The article outlines and explicates the methodological utility of the framework of scene through applying it on a particular geographically located post-institutional religious space: the present-day so-called “fringe-knowledge” scene in Finland.

Abstract The aim of this paper is to research the word class adjective in one sequence of the ESP: Business English, more precisely English business magazines online. It is an empirical study on the corpus taken from a variety of business magazines online. The empirical analysis allows a comprehensive insight into the word class adjective in this variety of Business English and makes its contribution to English syntax, semantics and word formation. The syntactic part analyses the adjective position in the sentence. The semantic part of the study identifies the most common adjectives that appear in English business magazines online. Most of the analysis is devoted to the word formation of the adjectives found in the corpus. The corpus is analysed in such a way that it enables its division into compounds, derivatives and conversions. The results obtained in this way will give a comprehensive picture of the word class adjective in this type of Business English and can act as a starting point for further research of the word class adjective.

For example, the recruitment of new members and the dissemination of ideologies of terrorism also takes place in the media. However, the fight against terrorism also makes use of the same tools. The type of these countermeasures, as well as the methods, are covered in this work. In the first part, the state of the art is summarized. The second part presents an explorative empirical study of the fight against terrorism in social media, especially on Twitter. Different, preferably characteristic forms are structured within the scope with the example of Twitter. The aim of this work is to approach this highly relevant subject with the goal of peace, safety and safety from the perspective of information systems. Moreover, it should serve following researches in this field as basis and starting point.

In EU countries, agricultural taxation is of major importance for the competitiveness of economic operators active in the agriculture sector. In many countries, the implementation of non-fiscal objectives plays an essential role in preferential tax regimes targeted at the agricultural sector. This is because the adopted tax regime concept impacts the targets, structure and intensification of agricultural production and, as a consequence, affects the economic and financial performance of farms and other aspects. The main purpose of this paper was to specify the quantitative relationships between taxation levels and the economic and financial situation of farms in European Union countries. The empirical study was composed of two stages. The first stage was a synthetic assessment of farm taxation levels in the EU. For that purpose, TOPSIS (Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to an Ideal Solution) was used to develop a synthetic indicator used as a basis to arrange the countries and identify the types of farm taxation levels. The types of EU countries grouped by farm taxation levels became the starting point for an analysis of the relationship between taxation and the farms’ economic and financial situation. The sub-indicators of the farms’ economic and financial situation were presented for the typological classes concerned, including sub-indicators of production potential, production intensity, incomes, farm subsidies, indebtedness and investments. The empirical study was based on 2013-2015 FADN data (average figures).

AbstractThere are currently various academic accounts of contemporary sociality. While the concept of the ‘digtital condition’ seems to lend itself to a cultural interpretation, those of ‘informationalism’ and ‘postsociality’ may be appropriate for describing, from a sociological perspective, specific phenomena of changes to sociality in the digital condition. The emergence of the term ‘knowledge economy’ appears to invite an intersection of cultural and sociological perspectives and proceeding from this starting point, this chapter identifies the shared parameters of these perspectives in relation to the conditions of subjectivity, of high relevance to education, in a networked, media-driven society. The work underlying the chapter examines these issues via the metaphor of ‘network subjectivity’, employing the findings of an empirical study, theory of government, and psychoanalysis.

The article proposes the methods to construct the commercial age of enterprises in eco-industrial parks by taking the concept of commercial age as a starting point. With Xishan Eco-industrial Park as an example, it also carries out an empirical study by selecting three enterprises from each of the three representative industries. The research results show that the enterprise age as a representative indicator reflects the characteristics of the development of eco-industrial parks and the changes of the eco-industrial structures. In this way, it will provide theoretical and practical guidance for reasonable construction of commercial age structure while maintaining the industry chain of eco-industrial park and the industrial ecosystem stability.

Documentary narrative visualization is a data visualization approach using the features of documentary film. Researchers in the field of visualization are searching for better methods of constructing narratives from data sets. In this article, we explore the structure and techniques of documentary film and how they apply to the practice of constructing narrative visualization with video. We review the structural aspects of documentary film with examples relevant for narrative visualization. Using six of the highest quality video-based narrative visualizations, we conducted a study of user preferences for three pairs of videos. The video pairs were specifically matched to highlight unique features available in documentary film. Using the preferences expressed by our participants, we performed an empirical study to examine the documentary features most valued by our participants. Our results provide implications about the style and features of documentary film that are most useful in the construction of narrative visualization. Overall, this work provides a clear starting point for the construction of documentary narrative visualization providing content creators with specific techniques that will improve engagement of their content.
