Traditional festivals as a symbol of culture in Africa: The example of the Ovwuvwe festival of the Abraka people

Traditional festivals have become a prominent topic of research because of their social-cultural values. The values, and beliefs of a people are demonstrated through festivals. However, thus far, limited research has been conducted on the more profound issue of the possible contribution of festivals as a cultural symbol. This study aims to portray the symbols of the Abraka people’s culture through the Ovwuvwe festival celebration. The Ovwuvwe festival was chosen as the study area, due to its rich and unique cultural heritage, with the main aim of creating an avenue in preserving and displaying the cultural heritage of the Abraka people through the Ovwuvwe festival celebration. Through participation, interviews and critical observation, this paper demonstrates the cultural symbol of the Abraka people through Ovwuvwe.

The purpose of the research work is to analyze the norms of Federal laws, as well as the laws of the Russian Federation's constituent entities, devoted to the definitions and classification of the concepts “cultural heritage”, “historical and cultural monuments”, “cultural values”. Conclusions obtained in the course of the research: based on the study of current legislation, it is concluded that the definitions of “cultural values”, “cultural property”, “objects of cultural inheritance” contained in various normative legal acts differ in content. Based on the research, the author proposes the concept of “cultural values”.

AbstractClimate change is borderless, and its impacts are not shared equally by all communities. It causes an imbalance between people by creating a more desirable living environment for some societies while erasing settlements and shelters of some others. Due to floods, sea level rise, destructive storms, drought, and slow-onset factors such as salinization of water and soil, people lose their lands, homes, and natural resources. Catastrophic events force people to move voluntarily or involuntarily. The relocation of communities is a debatable climate adaptation measure which requires utmost care with human rights, ethics, and psychological well-being of individuals upon the issues of discrimination, conflict, and security. As the number of climate-displaced populations grows, the generations-deep connection to their rituals, customs, and ancestral ties with the land, cultural practices, and intangible cultural heritage become endangered. However, intangible heritage is often overlooked in the context of climate displacement. This paper presents reflections based on observations regarding the intangible heritage of voluntarily displaced communities. It begins by examining intangible heritage under the threat of climate displacement, with place-based examples. It then reveals intangible heritage as a catalyst to building resilient communities by advocating for the cultural values of indigenous and all people in climate action planning. It concludes the discussion by presenting the implications of climate displacement in existing intangible heritage initiatives. This article seeks to contribute to the emerging policies of preserving intangible heritage in the context of climate displacement.

The world’s increasing diversity requires health care professionals to adjust delivery methods of teaching to accommodate different cultural values and beliefs. The ability to communicate effectively across languages and various cultural practices directly affects patient education outcomes. Pharmacist should be aware of varying modalities and considerations when counseling a patient diagnosed with cancer and undergoing chemotherapy. In more recent years, the medical profession has seen an increase in patient outcomes due to using the multidisciplinary team approach and has benefited by implementing Medication Therapy Management (MTM) programs at various institutions. For the clinical pharmacist, this would mean documentation for these services should be precise and accurate based on the specific patients needs. There are several factors involved in the care and therapy of the patient with cancer. Clinical oncology pharmacist should be aware of the ever-changing role in oncology and be able to implement new practices at their facility for better patient outcomes.

RESUMEN: La doctrina del TC sobre la fiesta de los toros, si bien admite la competencia autonómica en materia de cultura, protección de los animales y espectáculos públicos como títulos que habilitan para regular los espectáculos taurinos en Cataluña e Illes Balears, sostiene que la prohibición o la regulación de aspectos esenciales de los mismos, orientada a evitar la muerte o el sufrimiento animal, invade la competencia estatal en materia de patrimonio cultural, prevalente en el marco de la concurrencia no excluyente de competencias estatales y autonómicas en materia de cultura ex art. 149.2 CE, encaminada a la preservación de valores culturales comunes, y que autoriza al Estado a intervenir de forma intensa, como ya ha hecho el legislador estatal, para favorecer un tratamiento general y una acción pública supraordenada que garantice la recognoscibilidad y pervivencia de la corrida de toros como la conocemos modernamente.

The aim of the article is to make clear whether and in that case why archaeology is important. Often this is seen as a self-evident fact which needs no motivation. My point of departure is a concrete example, namely, the medieval church of Mårup in Denmark which will soon fall into the sea: Why is it so crucial to save or document this church and many other traces of the past? Isn't the so-called cultural heritage condemned to destruction and oblivion? Rhetorical catchwords, cultural values, justifications and explanations within cultural heritage management, archaeology, history and social anthropology are presented and critically discussed together with indirect motivations borrowed from the literature about the abuse of the past.

Efforts to preserve the legendary cultural heritage and in the framework of seeking the identity of the nation as well as the diversity of ethnic groups in Indonesia, one way to do is to collect and care for folklore. This research as a means to treat foklor legend of Lake Ranu and Ngebel legend Telaga. Both legends have almost the same story, both the character and the story. The purpose of this study is to determine the similarities and differences in the two legends, through its structure, function and cultural values. Such long-term goal in this study is, to provide knowledge about oral literature research on literature students who can be used as a reference for the future. In addition, this research can also provide new knowledge for the general public about the storyline of the legend of Lake Ngebel and the legend of Lake Ranu. Based on the results of research that has been done then can be drawn a conclusion, namely: the structure there are four equations and has three differences. Something contained in the two legends have three functions, namely; as entertainment, as a means of legitimizing institutions and cultural institutions, as child educators. For the cultural values contained in these two legends are the value of Diktatik, Ethical, and Religious values

There are hundreds of Palembang songket motifs that have not </em><em>been </em><em>documented and collected well. The problem of criminal law protection of the cultural heritage of mankind is one of the most relevant in modern criminal law. Law enforcement practice has difficulties in qualifying the destruction or damage of cultural property. Most often, this is due to the definition of a set of crimes while encroaching on both religious feelings and cultural values. The urgency of solving this problem is growing due to the threat of destruction of cultural values due to man-made and natural disasters, as well as as a result of anthropogenic activities. These circumstances determine the relevance of the study of the problems of social conditionality of criminal liability for destruction or damage to cultural heritage sites, cultural values. The purpose of the article is to analyze the factors of social conditionality of criminal liability for criminal offenses in the field of protection of cultural values, the task of the article is to characterize the types of social harm as the basis of factors of social conditionality of these offenses. The article examines the factors of social conditioning of criminal liability for criminal offenses in the field of protection of cultural values, gives a characteristic of the types of social harm as the basis of the factors of social conditioning of these offenses. The article proves that the destruction or damage of cultural heritage objects, natural complexes, cultural values cause harm, is expressed not only in the direct loss of unique objects and objects that accumulate the centuries-old spirit of history, the foundations of material and spiritual culture, but also personify the absolute beauty and perfection of human talent and abilities, but also in the destruction of the very centuries-old spirit of the historical and cultural development of mankind, therefore, the harm from damage to this or that historical monument is necessarily reflected in all the above areas. It is concluded that the destruction or damage of cultural heritage sites are characterized by encroachment on public morality, which is expressed in the active influence of destruction or damage of cultural heritage sites included in the single state register of cultural heritage sites, identified cultural heritage sites , natural complexes, objects taken under state protection, or cultural values on cultural, historical, archeological, scientific bases of public life.
