The article emphasises the development of motives and needs of a medical student as one of the most relevant issues in motivation psychology for a future doctor. The importance of this problem is beyond a shadow of doubt, since the issue of the development of motives and needs is closely linked with the development of the individual on the whole. The motive can also be defined as the concept, which in a generalizing form says that there are many predilections. It activates the body, stimulates its behaviour and is aimed at determining what is needed. In the process of human activity, the personality develops and the environment in which the person lives is transformed. Needs are the driving force of personality development. Motives (predilections), needs and goals are components of the human’s motivational sphere. Considering the motivation of educational activity, it must be emphasized that the concept of motive is closely related to the concept of purpose and need. Motivational sphere includes: the need for learning, the importance of learning, the motive to learn, purpose, emotions, attitude and interest. The ability to create situations which promote the interest in the teacher as well as in learning. The more active are the teaching methods, the easier it is for the students to get interested. One of such methods at the Department of Therapeutic Dentistry is the realization of a programme of practical classes for highly motivated students, whose goal is to develop practical skills related to the future profession of the dentist during the course of preliminary training. Nowadays requires not only to improve methods in which the principle of mere repetition is basic and leads to intellectual and physical overload of students, but by means of finding new, more effective methods of educational and cognitive activity of students, to form their professional motivation. The article is devoted to the questions of motivation of the future doctor and the formation of his needs for constant self-improvement during practical classes and the individual work beyond the requirements of the programme.

Abstract Background: Computed tomography (CT) anatomy is not an integral part of undergraduate medical training in many countries. Radiology seems to be well suited for new online based teaching methods. The aim of the study was to evaluate whether e-learning is appropriate to introduce complex learning contents such as sinus CT anatomy in novices and to assess the usefulness of a sinus CT checklist to identify relevant anatomical variants in medical students. Material: Medical students were asked to assess sinus CT scans for anatomical variants before and after the implementation of the CLOSE mnemonic. Sinus CT anatomy and the CLOSE mnemonic were introduced by e-learning. The rate of correctly identified variants and the results of the individual CLOSE items were recorded and compared with those of otolaryngology residents. A questionnaire was distributed for subjective evaluation of the usefulness of the checklist and e-learning.Results: Ten students took part in the study. The rate of correctly identified variants improved significantly from 33.3% to 61.1%. The analysis of the individual CLOSE items showed a significant improvement for C, S and E in students and C, L and S in otolaryngology residents. The students identified more anatomical variants compared to the residents. The subjective evaluation of the CLOSE mnemonic and e-learning was very positive. Conclusion: E-learning was able to transfer complex learning contents in previously non-trained medical students and was evaluated as an appropriate introduction to the topics. The structured assessment of paranasal sinus CT scans using the CLOSE criteria can significantly improve the recognition of anatomical variants.

Background: Information technology (IT) is a new way of teaching and learning. One of the promising media of information technology is e-Learning, which is used to enhance knowledge and skills among users. A student gains better and deep knowledge through a useful tool. This survey aimed to determine practices among medical students for e-Learning. Methods: This cross-sectional survey was conducted on 184 students amongst the 500 students currently enrolled in medical college. Data was collected using questionnaires and were analyzed through SPSS version 22. Chi-square was used for qualitative values. Results: Majority 90.80% (n=167) students were aware of e-Learning and were statistically high in first year students (p-value: 0.018). The student did not show statistically significant results for content learned through e-Learning with a p-value of 0.063. Different resources were used for e-Learning in which videos had the highest percentage (87.60%) and audios were used as the least resource for e-Learning (29.20%). Abstract Context Strong evidence throughout the literature highlights burnout as a significant and increasing problem among medical students, impacting students’ ability to effectively care for and empathize with patients. Objectives To examine how involvement in extracurricular activities and attendance at burnout lectures can impact burnout among medical students. Methods An anonymous digital survey including the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) was sent to all students (n=765) at Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine. The survey included questions regarding the number of burnout/wellness lectures respondents had attended, the number of clubs in which the respondents participated, the number of hours spent in these clubs, and any leadership positions held by the respondents. Results Of the 765 students enrolled, 597 completed the survey. Results indicated that women participated in significantly more clubs than men (t[456]=−4.30; p<0.001). Men had higher scores on the depersonalization subscale of the MBI than women (t[463)=2.98; p<0.01]. There were no gender differences in emotional exhaustion or personal accomplishment. Linear regression analyses including gender and club participation as predictors of each of the burnout subscales indicated a significant interaction between gender and number of clubs (β=0.34; p<0.05), in that more club participation was associated with higher depersonalization scores for women, but lower depersonalization scores for men. The number of wellness/burnout prevention lectures attended was not predictive of scores on any of the burnout subscales. Conclusions Our results indicate the importance of understanding what drives burnout on the individual level and adapting interventions to suit the needs of individual students, rather than the student body as a whole.

The article focuses on the problems of teaching social studies at high school. The author tries to actualize the use of gaming technologies during lessons. The aim of the study is to determine the effectiveness of the game in teaching social studies to schoolchildren. During social studies lessons, it is necessary to use various teaching methods, one of which is the game. Thanks to the game, the theoretical knowledge gained during the lesson will be much better assimilated by students. Also, thanks to game technologies, it is possible to solve the problem of educational motivation of schoolchildren; it will be interesting for any student to participate in a game. Play activity today is of great importance in the development and education of the individual, as it gives each child an opportunity to feel themselves as a subject of a certain type of activity, to express themselves, to form thier own abilities. During the game, an intellectually passive student can perform such a volume of work that is completely inaccessible to them in a traditional educational situation. In scientific and other pedagogical studies related to play activities, one can find the concept of an "emotional accelerator" of learning. In addition to theoretical research, the article describes a pedagogical experiment, in which 20 students of 10th grades took part. The article says that using various play forms and methods it is possible to alternate between “serious” and “frivolous” work, and thereby ensure sustained attention to the studied material in the classroom, and the study of the course “Social Studies” at high school is a vital necessity. It is important to provide quality education using various active methods and techniques, in particular, using the form of business games.
