Introduction: the steady increase in the number of the suspected, accused and convicted of terrorism and extremism, as well as cases of their participation in various emergencies, necessitates a personal, targeted approach to correctional psychological and educational work with them. The need for an individual approach, including in psychological and educational work with those convicted of terrorism and extremism, is also indicated by regulatory legal documents, in particular the Order of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia No. 1111 dated November 24, 2017 “On the organization of events on countering terrorism, extremist activity in penal enforcement institutions and bodies”. Study purpose: determination of the effectiveness of the tested model program for psychological correction of personality of persons convicted of terrorism and extremism-related crimes. Research methods: psychodiagnostics methods: the Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory (ZTPI) “Time perspective of convicts”, multidimensional self-attitude research questionnaire, a psychodiagnostic method “Life-purpose orientations”; a method for testing the program developed; a method for identifying statistical differences – the Student’s t-test; a method for comparative analysis of the psychodiagnostics results obtained following the testing results. Results: validation of the reliability of statistical differences with the help of the Student’s t-test determined the absence of significant changes in the indicators of convicts in the control group. Meaningful changes were observed in the indicators of convicts of the experimental group with the help of the following methods: ZTPI “Time perspective of convicts”, a multidimensional self-attitude research questionnaire and a psychodiagnostic method “Life-purpose orientations”. A comparative analysis of the results of psychodiagnostics of convicts in the experimental group before and after testing of the basic program proved the reliability of statistical differences with the help of the Student’s t-test determined the presence of positive personality changes in the behavioral, cognitive and affective spheres of the personality of convicts in the experimental group. Conclusions: assessment of the model program testing results revealed a sufficient degree of its effectiveness and the possibility of its implementation. The model program largely determined the content and structure of the section of the additional professional program – a professional development program for psychological service employees who accompany persons convicted of terrorist and extremist crimes.

The article presents the results of the comparative analysis of hardiness of young people between the ages of 18 and 35, and pre-retirement people with the help of Maddi’s Hardiness Test modified by D. Leontyev. Student’s t-test has been used to verify credibility of differences between two independent samplings. Mathematical and statistical analysis used to compare the results of young and pre-retirement age people’s survey has shown that people approaching retirement age are more resilient then young people and people before the age of 35. Young people have proved to show risk-taking behavior more, while persons nearing retirement age are more involved into and have a sense of control of their own life as opposed to young people. According to all the parameters studied these two groups showed significant differences.

Abstract Objectives The relationship between condylar asymmetry and handedness of the patients with temporomandibular disorders (TMD) and patients with no signs or symptoms of TMD was investigated. The experimental group consisted of 25 patients aged 15 to 52 years who were referred for treatment of TMD. The mean age of this group was 26.24 years. The control group consisted of 25 patients aged 14 to 52 years (mean age: 26.16 years). Methods The formula by Habets et al.14 was used to express the symmetry between the condyles and the rami on the orthopantomogram (OPG) image. Differences between bothgroups and subgroups (condyle, ramus, condyle plus ramus) regarding symmetry were calculated with the Student's t-test. Results The mean of condylar asymmetry was found to be 11.11 ± 11.03% in the TMD group. However, in the control group, the mean of condylar asymmetry was found to be 8.36 ± 6.27%. No statistically significant differences were found between condylar asymmetry in both groups (p>0.05). Conclusions No statistically significant differences were found between condylar asymmetry index in patients with TMD according to myogenous problems and in patients with no signs or symptoms of TMD. The present work was designed to carry out a comparative analysis of the visualization of small files using digital and conventional radiographs. Forty maxillary molars inserted in human skulls were used; Maillefer K-files #06, #08, #10 and #15 were inserted in the mesiobuccal canals and measured at 0.5mm beyond and 1.5mm before the tip with 0.5-mm intervals, in order to allow five professionals to observe whether the files were at the limit, before or beyond the foramen when visualized on conventional radiographs taken on Insight Kodak film (Eastman Kodak, Rochester, NY, USA) and with the RVG digital system (Trophy). Based on the results obtained, the conclusions were: with the two systems it was possible to visualize #06 K-files in nearly 60% of the evaluated cases; for the others, #08, #10 and #15 K-files, visualization was higher with both radiographic systems, achieving 82% of correct visualization for #15 K-files with the conventional system. The differences between the results of the two systems studied - conventional (Insight film, Kodak F-speed) and last generation digital (RVG - Trophy) radiographs - were not statistically significant according to the Student's t test.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effect of anhydrous lanolin-based ointment in the process of healing nipple injuries. METHODS: This is a descriptive experimental study was performed in two Maternity Hospitals in Sao Paulo. The random sample consisted of 50 puerperium women with nipple injuries, hospitalized in the period of June 2002 to July 2003. Participants were randomly assigned into control and experimental groups, by the means of a draw. Statistical analysis was performed using Qui-square, Student's t test, and ANOVA (á at 5%). RESULTS: The size of the injury in the control group reduced in 0.41 ± 0.11 cm (right breast) and 0.29 ± 0.06 cm (left breast) compared to the experimental group, from the first to the second evaluation (p < 0.001), showing to be statistically significant. CONCLUSION: The lanolin is effective in treating nipple injuries.

This study aims to explore the association between nurses' leadership styles and personal and professional nursing profile and workload. The sample consisted of seven nurses and seven nursing technicians who were grouped into pairs. At the end of three months, nurses were queried regarding what leadership style would be adopted when the nursing technician under their evaluation delivered care to patients admitted to the ICU. Relevant data was analyzed by applying descriptive statistics, Tukey's multiple comparison test and Student's t-test (p< 0.05). Nursing workload reached 80.1% on average. The personal and professional profile variables did not show any relation with the leadership styles chosen by nurses (p>0.05). The determine, persuade, and share leadership styles prevailed. However, whenever the nursing workload peaked, the determine and persuade styles were used (p<0.05).

Intravesical prostaglandin E2 is effective in the recovery of spontaneous voiding after transvaginal reconstruction of the pubocervical fascia and short arm sling according to Lahodny. The aim of the study was to compare the effects of intravesical prostaglandin E2 in the prevention of urinary retention after transvaginal reconstruction of the pubocervical fascia and short arm sling according to Lahodny. STUDY DESIGN: From November 1996 to June 1999 fifty women underwent the Lahodny procedure for moderate/severe cystocele and stress urinary incontinence. Women were randomly assigned to 1 of the 2 study groups: intravesical prostaglandin E2 versus controls. Data obtained were analyzed with the Student t test and the Fisher exact test. RESULTS: Two patients of the treatment group had to be excluded from the study, one because of the wrong measurement of the post-voidal residual volume and another due to a fastidious burning sensation which appeared immediately after prostaglandin instillation and required the suspension of the treatment. No other side effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or hyperthermia were observed. Patients who underwent the prostaglandin E2 treatment showed a recovery of spontaneous voiding after 7.9±6.7 days, whereas this interval was significantly longer in the control group, being 12.9±9.7 days (p=0.04, Two tailed Unpaired Student's T test). CONCLUSION: The effectiveness and the low associated morbidity mark the treatment with intravesical prostaglandin E2 useful in the recovery of normal voiding after transvaginal pubocervical fascia reconstruction and short arm sling with the procedure according to Lahodny.

Functional and structural damages of tubulointerstitium are caused by proteinuria. The aim of this study was to assess the influence of different proteinuria levels on Na+, K+, Cl tubular transport. We examined 50 patients (24 males, 26 females), mean age 46.50 ? 13.08 years, with mean creati-nine clearence of 87.29 ? 31.17 mL/min. They were separated in three groups depending on proteinuria value. The first group with proteinuria less than 0.3 g/24h included 19 persons (7 males, 12 females), mean age 45.12 ? 13.28 years, with mean creatinine clearance of 94.27 ? 34.70 mL/min. The second group of 18 patients (8 males, 10 females), mean age 45.39 ? 12.64 years had proteinuria of 0.3-3,0 g/24h and mean creatinine clearance of 90.07 ? 31.89 mL/min. The third group had proteinuria level higher than 3.0g/24h and mean creatinine clearance of 73.25 ? 20.44 mL/min. It included 13 patients (9 males, 4 females), mean age 50.08 ? 13.73 years. As a parameter of proteinuria influence on tubular transport of Na+, K+ and Cl-, fractional excretion of these electrolytes, was studied. Student's T test, Mann Whitney U test and c2 test were used for statistical analysis. No statistically significant influence of proteinuria was found on Na+, K+ and Cl tubular transport.
