This study presents the results of a qualitative research on pedagogical factors involved in mediating the tutor : the case of the Bachelor in Public Administration Distance ( ADMP ) of PNAP offered through the UAB in a public university in northeastern Brazil System , initiated in 2009 and was motivated by question: There are factors that influence the mediation of the online tutor ? Their goal was to identify factors that affect the mediation of online tutor. To collect data, a questionnaire was administered and conducted an interview with the online tutors. Messages posted to the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE ) were also observed. Participated in the survey, 11 tutors online that was presents in the course researched, between 2012 and 2013 The research result indicates that the factors related to the quality of education; the quality of instructional materials and learner support materials; the quality of AVA; physical, technological and administrative available to students and the degree of approximation between the teacher and tutor; infrastructure interfere with the performance of the online tutor who works in the process: teaching - study - learning the of virtual student. It should be noted that the content of this article was discussed on several occasions in 2014 and 2015. However, it is relevant to resume the discussion in the field of DE due to the pandemic moment, in which the pedagogical mediation was intensified, due to the fact that the in-person classes were, abruptly, replaced by remote classes and this activity began to be performed also by teachers and monitors (students) selected to assist teachers in teaching activities in remote, semi-present or fully online teaching.

This quantitative study aims to determine teachers' and students' perceptions of engagement and satisfaction during the emergency remote teaching (ERT), together with the significant differences of the variables on the teachers' profiles.  Participated by 147 and 409 senior high school teachers and students in a comprehensive Catholic university, it was revealed that the respondents have positively engaged in different virtual lessons and activities.  This affirmative participation also gives way to construct online satisfaction among teachers despite few identified circumstances like the students' poor confidence in their learning, the benefits of online teaching and instructional materials, and school authorities' support. Still, teachers' and students' engagement and satisfaction remain different, while teachers' profiles like strand and year in service appear significant to teachers’ satisfaction while age and educational attainment appear significant for both teachers’ engagement and satisfaction.  Results further prove that the quality of engagement in a virtual learning environment remains a significant academic issue during the COVID-19 pandemic to achieve pedagogical and learning success.  Hence, similar studies on engagement and satisfaction on virtual learning may be conducted using comprehensive tools and methods for a different set of respondents to assess quality instructions and to achieve learning equity.

The organisation of the overall teaching and learning process during the ongoing pandemic has brought to light a complex range of educational aspects which need to be considered while reexamining and reevaluating the quality of teaching practices. The unavoidable criterion relevant for creating a meaningful educational context includes students’ perspectives and thoughts on these aspects of the processes they are active participants of. This paper focuses on university students‘ satisfaction with various aspects of online teaching and learning organisation. It reports on the answers the respondents, students majoring in English, gave to the Students‘ Satisfactory Survey, which consisted of a set of five-point Likert scale and one open-ended questions. The aim of this study is to investigate how satisfied the university students are with the online teaching-learning context – its overall organisation and the quality of lectures organised, delivered and assessed in a virtual environment. The results to a set of closed-ended questions are represented with statistic data and followed by the descriptive narrative, and the answers to the open-ended question are classified according to a common denominator, and subsequently analysed and discussed. The answers analysis shows that the majority of students have a rather positive attitude towards the online learning environment, and it also points to the aspects which can be improved.

A quantitative study was conducted in order to know, from the perspective of university students, the relationship between the quality perceived (QP) during the period of confinement derived from the SARS-CoV-2 virus, with the variables teaching plan (PL), material resources (MR), interaction processes (IN), and the affective–emotional component (EM). An online questionnaire was designed, directed to students from 20 universities in Spain, with a total participation of 893 individuals. The results indicate that the perception of the students on the quality of online teaching is directly associated with the material resources provided by the professors and the professor–student interactions. However, this perception does not have any direct effect on the planning or the emotional state or affectation created by the unprecedented situation of confinement. Among the conclusions, we highlight the need for the universities to apply models of support and tutoring, especially for students in their first years at university, to develop competences such as autonomy, digital competence, and self-regulation, and the need for a change of approach of the students and the professors based on the new normality we are currently experiencing.

Systemic arterial hypertension is a risk factor for cardiovascular diseases and has become a common public health problem. Health education associated with educational technology may be used to encourage patients’ adherence to treatment and enable them to adequately understand how harmful hypertension can be to health, thereby promoting their quality of life. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the influence of a strategy in an individual orientation program using educational technology associated with virtual learning environment (VLE) of hypertension care on the reduction in the white coat effect and the improvement in blood pressure control to be promoted by a nurse in a hypertension unit in a government state hospital in São Paulo. METHODS AND MATERIALS:This was a randomized clinical education study conducted with two groups, the VLE group (study group, 10 patients) and the control group (16 patients). Both groups were interviewed 6 times by nurses during the 120-day follow-up at 20-day intervals. At baseline (randomization) and at the end of the study, the patients took Spielberg’s State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI), the Morisky test, and the WHOQOL, a quality of life instrument, and had their blood pressure taken (ambulatory blood pressure monitoring [ABPM]). Both groups had their blood pressure, weight, and abdominal circumference measured. Only the study group had remote access to the VLE. This consisted of 6 specific educational modules, each released according to the encounter number. RESULTS: At baseline, there were no statistical differences between the two groups with respect to the sociodemographic and hemodynamic variables. At the end of the study, there was a significant statistical difference between the groups on the Morisky test (p=0.001) and on the WHOQOL with respect to domain 3 social (p=0.001). There was no statistical difference with respect to the white coat effect between the groups. Nor was there any statistical difference between the groups with respect to the association of the anxiety degree measured by STAI and the white coat effect.CONCLUSION: In light of the results, our strategy improved the quality of life in the social domain and changed the adherence behavior of the study group in relation to the forgetfulness of medication schedules.

Among the problems faced by the melon crop in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, northeastern Brazil, the effect of water and soil salinity is considered one of the key factors to limit fruit production and quality. The aim of this work was to study the effects of using irrigation waters with different salinity levels on yield and quality of fruits of the yellow melon hybrid Mandacaru. A randomized complete block design was used with five treatments (irrigation water salt concentrations: 0.54, 1.48, 2.02, 3.03, 3.9 dS m-1) and four replications. The effects of these concentrations were evaluated through, number of marketable fruits per plant, marketable and total fruit yield, average marketable fruit mass, soluble solids content and pulp firmness. Increment in water salinity level negatively influenced crop yield. The 3.9 dS m-1 salinity level caused yield losses of 20.31%, due to the reduction of fruit number per plant. The highest soluble solid content and the highest pulp firmness values were estimated to occur at salinity levels 2.09 and 3.5 dS m-1, respectively.

Job satisfaction in health services is measured by the quality of care provided, hence the importance of surveying the workers of health institutions. The objective was to explore and analyze the phenomenon of the satisfaction of working in a sample made up of 546 health professionals belonging to a public University Hospital. Both a socio-demographic questionnaire and General Scale of Satisfaction (<em>Overall</em> <em>Job</em> <em>Satisfacción</em>) that were both validated in Spanish were given to the participants. The results of general satisfaction showed a mean of 71.37 (<em>SD</em> = 14.03). The subscales with better results were: colleagues and immediate superior. There were important differences in satisfaction scores between the different professional categories. The higher levels of general satisfaction were found in hospital management groups and resident doctors, while the lower levels of general satisfaction were found in medical area specialists, nurses and auxiliary nurses.
