ABSTRACT The research project aims to clarify the current land use and livelihoods of resettled people for proposing reasonable land allocation solutions to the livelihood development of resettled people for the construction of Binh Dien hydropower. The research methods used the secondary and primary data collection survey; interviews of experts and key information people; household interviews; In-depth interviews and data processing methods. Research results showed that the displacement and resettlement in hydroelectricity construction have brought about positive impacts such as people have better access to infrastructure and better services, but the biggest difficulty of the displaced ethnic minorities is to restore and develop agricultural production in the post-resettlement period when the land that people can access is much less than the old place, especially agricultural land. The soil quality is not compatible with traditional crops such as local cassava, upland rice, local maize, and citrus. Lesson learned is that it is necessary to calculate the allocation of productive land fund before relocating otherwise after relocation most of the households are not allocated an additional productive land because this land fund is now being allocated stably to other individuals and companies. It is necessary for young people to have vocational transition training programs to adapt to living conditions at the new places in concentrated resettlement areas.

The study evaluated factors affecting the selection of agricultural farming models and advantages, difficulties, and opportunities in the implementation process to propose solutions to develop appropriate agricultural sustainable farming models. The study uses secondary and primary data through KIP interviews, focus group interviews, in-depth interviews, and farmer interviews. As a result, this study found education is an important factor affecting farmers in choosing their farming models and increasing agricultural production in their farmland. For most of the considered factors, the majority of Kinh people choose to evaluate the influence of the decision in choosing a farming model higher than another ethnic group (Khmer). Besides, the Khmer ethnic group accounts for a higher proportion of poor households (18.2%) than the Kinh group. Because of low economic conditions, decisions on agricultural production of Khmer ethnic groups are less assertive than that of the Kinh people. On the other hand, there is a serious shortage of water in the dry season in the highlands, cultivated mainly by rainwater, ethnic minority accounts for 53.36% of the whole commune population, educational level makes it difficult to apply modern techniques in production. Therefore, strengthening and mobilizing people, investing in building upland irrigation systems, and using effective land conversion are essential activities to be carried out to improve the efficiency of farming models to make sustainable agricultural production that can increase income and enhance the economic life of local people.

The issue of sludge governance received from the wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) is extremely relevant and indisputably one of those discussed not only in Bulgaria, but also around the world. The positive role of sludge on the balance of humus as a result of activating the activity of soil microorganisms has also been proven. The aim of this article is to analyze the socio-economic and behavioral aspects of sludge utilization on farms. Extensive in-depth interviews have been conducted and summarized with farmers using and not using sludge in the Sofia region, aiming to gather complete information of production, economic, behavioral, organizational and other nature from farmers using and not using sludge. The main (economic, technological, behavioral, etc.) factors that influence the decisions on the use and non-use of sludge in agricultural production are identified. The results show that the effect of sludge utilization on crop yield is not instantaneous. It is established that there is a lag in revealing the benefits of this activity. Interviews conducted with farmers using sludge in their agricultural activities show twice the yields compared to conventional production. However, the application of sludge is accompanied by a number of challenges: public opinion, properties of sludge, as well as many issues related to the technological introduction of sludge in arable agricultural land.

The use of sewage sludge in agriculture decreases the pressure on landfills. In Romania, massive investments have been made in wastewater treatment stations, which have resulted in the accumulation of important quantities of sewage sludge. The presence of these sewage sludges coincides with large areas of degraded agricultural land. The aim of the present article is to identify the best technological combinations meant to solve these problems simultaneously. Adapting the quality and parameters of the sludge to the specificity of the land solves the possible compatibility problems, thus reducing the impact on the environment. The physico-chemical characteristics of the fermented sludge were monitored and optimal solutions for their treatment were suggested so as to allow that the sludge could be used in agriculture according to the characteristics of the soils. The content of heavy metals in the sewage sludge was closely monitored because the use of sewage sludge as a fertilizer does not allow for any increases in the concentrations of these in soils. The article identifies those agricultural areas which are suitable for the use of sludge, as well as ways of correcting some parameters (e.g., pH), which allow the improvement of soil quality and obtained higher agricultural production.

AbstractUnderstanding the selves, situations and actions of Africans can never be comprehended outside kinship. Local and foreign worldviews are first pigeonholed into culture and defined within kinship realities in Nigeria and Africa. There have been studies on kinship in Africa. However, the findings from such studies portrayed the immutability of African kinship. Thus, as an important contribution to the on-going engagement of kinship in the twenty-first century as an interface between the contemporary Diaspora, this article engaged kinship within international migration. This is a major behavioural and socio-economic force in Nigeria. Methodological triangulation was adopted as part of the research design and primary data were collected through in-depth interviews (IDIs), and life histories of international migrants were documented and focus group discussions (FGDs) were held with kin of returnees. The article found and concluded that while returnees continued to appreciate local kinship infrastructures, the infrastructures were liable to reconstruction primarily determined by dominant support situations in the traditional African kinship networks.

The article is devoted to substantiating the prospects for increasing the marginal volumes of agricultural production for export in the next four years. Two scenarios of such production are considered: 1) expansion and 2) intensification of the use of land resources. As part of the development of the first scenario, an analysis of the distribution of unused agricultural land, including arable land, by federal districts was carried out. Also, based on the forecast of the introduction of additional annual volumes of acreage in the subjects of the Federation, the calculation of additional volumes of agricultural production, which can be expected in the next four years, was carried out. The analysis of data on the increase in the yield of export-oriented crops over the past five years has been carried out, in the framework of the second scenario, the calculation of the projected additional yield due to the intensification of agriculture is presented. The results of the study indicate that the intensification of agriculture will have the greatest impact on the growth of production and export of agricultural products in the near future.

The article, based on a comprehensive analysis of regulations, doctrinal approaches and case law, substantiates the understanding of the term "agriculture" in terms of purpose (use) of land. Direct analysis of regulations revealed that agricultural land is land provided for agricultural production, agricultural research and training activities, location of relevant production infrastructure, including infrastructure of wholesale markets for agricultural products, or intended for these purposes. In turn, the purpose of the land is the permissible limits of land use by citizens and legal entities (acquirers of such a right) established by law and specified by the relevant body (which transfers such land into ownership or use). The basis for determining the purpose of the land is its belonging to the appropriate category. The main criterion, for example, to distinguish agricultural production (agricultural activity) from other activities is the use of agricultural land as the main (basic) means of production. As a result of the study, it was concluded that the term "agriculture" can be understood in its broad and narrow sense. In a broad sense, the term "agriculture" is the use of land for commercial agricultural production, farming, personal farming, subsidiary agriculture, individual and collective gardening, haymaking and cattle grazing, for research and training purposes, provision of services in agriculture, placement of infrastructure of wholesale markets for agricultural products, as well as other activities on agricultural land, depending on the activities provided by law and the constituent documents of the economic entity. In a narrow sense – this is the purpose of agricultural land. The understanding of the term "agriculture" as the purpose of agricultural land is used by the court in resolving disputes.
