The purpose of the current study is to evaluate the remedial program first implemented in primary schools in the 2018-2019 school year on the basis of teacher opinions. To this end, it is attempted to perform a holistic analysis of the opinions of the class teachers implementing the training program in their classes, its implementation stages, the grade levels covered by the program, the content of the book used in the implementation and its applicability, the place and time of the implementation and to provide some insights for future research. In the current study designed as a qualitative study, the purposive sampling method was used and thus, a total of 8 tenured teachers implementing this program in their classes were selected. A semi-structured interview form was prepared to collect data and the data collected through this semi-structured interview form were analysed by using the descriptive analysis and content analysis techniques. The findings obtained from the analysis of the data revealed that the teachers evaluated the general objectives of RPPS as positive, partially positive and negative. Although they did not receive any in-service training while implementing the program, they did not encounter a general problem, and implemented the program in line with the information given to them. The teachers expressed different opinions about the objectives of the program and generally stated that the program should be started from the second grade onwards. The teachers made different comments on the content of the source book prepared for the program according to different modules and gave positive and negative opinions about its applicability. The teachers arranged the implementation steps according to their own knowledge and experience; they found the school suitable for the place of implementation, but they put forward different opinions about the time of implementation. In addition, the teachers presented various ideas on the basis of their experiences during the implementation.

Article visualizations:

This study investigated the impact of two widely used commercial programs designed to increase peer understanding and acceptance of elementary school-aged handicapped students. Second, fourth, and sixth graders from six rural school districts were used in the study. The Better Understanding of Disabled Youth (BUDY) program and the Lets Meet the New Kids on the Block (KOB) program were two treatments employed to determine whether positive gains in attitudes toward the disabled could be systematically attained. Furthermore, the two programs were compared to see if one was more effective in this regard. By employing an adaptation of the Acceptance Scale (Voeltz, 1981) as both a pre-test and post-test measure, changes in student attitudes were documented on a variety of survey items. While a variety of variables were tracked, the most meaningful differences occurred between students in different grade levels. It appeared that second grade children increased their acceptance toward their peers with disabilities more positively as a result of undergoing the KOB interventions, while the older intermediate level children increased their acceptance more positively as a result of completing the BUDY interventions. Implications of findings and recommendations for future research are discussed.

This study explored the relationship between cognitive styles and achievement in English as a foreign language (EFL). To this end, the Goodenough-Harris Drawing Test, consisting of draw a woman test (DAWT) and draw a man test (DAMT), was administered to 658 grade two, three and four students who had registered in Imam Reza primary schools in Mashhad, Iran. The DAWT and DAMT were marked by two raters and averaged to have a more comprehensive measure of the students’ conceptualization of human figure called draw a person test (DAPT). The mean score on the DAPT was utilized to assign the participants to field-dependent and field-independent groups. The participants’ scores on the oral and written examinations held in the middle and end of school year were also obtained from their schools and averaged to get a total test score as an indicator of EFL achievement. The correlational analysis of the data established a significant relationship between cognitive styles and oral and total EFL achievement. Neither the field-dependent nor field-independent genus of cognitive styles related to the achievement. The independent samples ttest, however, showed that the field-independent primary school students’ EFL achievement was significantly higher than their FD counterparts. The results are discussed and suggestions are made for future research.

The purpose of this qualitative study is to identify on which topics intergenerational learning takes place among primary and lower secondary school teachers of different generations. If intergenerational learning is present among colleagues, the content of this learning will be specified. For this purpose, in 2013-2014 school year, in the district of İzmit in the province of Kocaeli two primary and two lower secondary schools where different generations work together were, therefore, selected and 39 teachers of three different generations in these schools were interviewed. Semi-structured interview technique was used during these face-to- face interviews. Data of the study, which was designed using phenomenological pattern, was analyzed with descriptive analysis method. The results indicated that younger teachers learn about topics such as classroom management and handling problems with parents from the experiences of their older colleagues. On the other hand, older teachers learn about the new teaching methods and techniques, teaching materials and the use of technical equipments from their younger colleagues. It was clearly seen that intergenerational learning proceed more functionally at schools where collaboration and knowledge-sharing are important values; where there aren’t any prejudices against age and where there are individuals who are open for development.

The research is focused on teachers‘ approaches, opinions, and visions concerning inclusive education in the South Moravian Region and the Split-Dalmatian County. Further to that, it analyses the degree of Inclusion in these areas. The relationship of pedagogues towards Inclusion, due to a steep increase of specific disorders, is extremely important. The research was made in the year when the inclusive education bill was passed in the Czech Republic. Data was collected in the first school year when schools in Czech Republic functioned as in-clusive. Data collection took place in Split-Dalmatian county in 2016 and the South Moravian Region in 2017. The research is qualitative, an open-question questionnaire was made, and a non-structured interview was made when visiting schools. We set the following hypothe-ses. We assume that teachers of selected schools of the Split-Dalmatia County evaluate Inclusion more negatively than teachers of selected primary schools in the South Moravian Region. This hypothesis is not confirmed. We expect that Inclusion will take place in selected elementary schools in the South Moravian Region more than in selected elementary schools in Split-Dalmatia County. This hypothesis is not confirmed. This research is based on the methodology and data from the diploma thesis of Nikola Stračárová 2017 (Stračárová, 2017).
