This research aims to identify the factors influencing Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) to adopt Social Media (SM) for marketing communication. The research was conducted through a qualitative study by interviewing SM managers of selected Pakistani HEIs. Data was analyzed using NVivo 11 to identify emerging themes. The findings revealed several internal and external factors encouraging HEIs to adopt SM marketing. Internal factors reflected the internal dynamics or beliefs within the HEIs that encouraged them to use SM for their marketing communication, whereas external factors were environmental changes, not in direct control of HEIs, but believed to contribute towards their decision to use SM. The internal factors included the belief of applicants, increased interest of senior management towards SM, perception of cost-effective promotional tool, induction of young staff, perception of SM as a modern communication tool and move towards paperless communication. The external factors included SM preference as a mode of communication, declining value of traditional marketing communication tools, E-Life inclination, presence of competitors & unofficial SM accounts of HEIs and their self-driven nature. This study draws focus towards the underlying intentions of HEIs for their SM presence and compares these motivations with other organizations. This has enabled filling in the gaps in the literature regarding the roots of SM marketing in the context of HEIs. From a practical perspective, the findings of this study will enable HEIs to compare their SM motives with other industries. A major difference found was the absence of motivation on the part of HEIs to use SM. This is in contradiction to other industries that put relationship building with customers as one of the primary motives to use SM.

The purpose of this study was to identify the internal and external factors associated with the implementation of the organization's policies. It was an applied-descriptive study conducted through a survey method using a questionnaire. For the purpose of this study, after reviewing the literature and theoretical foundations, we tried to identify the most important internal and external factors affecting optimal policy implementation. Therefore, seven factors and their indices were selected based on frequency and importance. In the form of seven hypotheses, the relationship between these factors and optimized policy implementation was evaluated. The statistical population included 120 employees of the Department of Natural Resources and Watershed Management of Khorasan Razavi province. The sample size was calculated using the Morgan formula to be 92 people. Regarding the fact that the policy implementation had an abnormal distribution, the nonparametric single t-test was used to test the hypotheses. The results indicated a positive and significant relationship between all internal and external organizational factors identified by optimal policy implementation in the organization.

The growth of public enterprises or government-linked companies (GLCs) has been phenomenal over the years. However, the performance of GLCs remains a major concern. On the other hand, past studies have postulated that there is a strong relationship between corporate entrepreneurship (CE), entrepreneurial orientation (EO) and firm performance. Despite this, viewing GLCs’ performance in the context of CE or EO has received minimal attention among strategic management and entrepreneurship scholars. This paper highlights and discusses the performance of GLCs within the context of CE. Given the role of EO as a direct predictor while proposing CE internal and external factors as moderators of the EO-CE performance relationship in GLCs, a proposed framework of CE within the context of GLCs in Malaysia is proposed.

Being knowledge-based, handicrafts-manufacturing workshops established by art graduates are to design and manufacture innovative products in line with modern lifestyle. Unfortunately, such workshops are often encountered with challenges due to lacking the use of a specific management system in their production and supply processes. For this purpose, the application of Kaizen’s management system was discussed in the present study because of its ease of implementation, high effectiveness of results, low costs, and emphasis on teamwork in the production of handicrafts. This study was applied in terms of the research purpose with a descriptive survey design. The statistical population of the study included 17 handicrafts-manufacturing workshops established by art graduates in the last fifteen years. The results of this study showed that the application of Kaizen’s management system and its operational procedures could provide conditions for continuous improvement in the production process of handicrafts, reduce the cost and time of production, increase quality, and enhance delivery performance.

There are over 11,000 greenhouse growers in the United States. Of this number, 8,000 produce less than $500,000 per year in total sales. Less than 1% of the 11,000 have a strategic business plan. Many may have a yearly budget, but they have not developed a formal written analysis of their business in relation to internal and external factors. A sample of 10 growers indicated that their profitability increased significantly when they understood a formal strategic business plan. The information developed from this sample indicates the entire greenhouse industry could benefit greatly from increased use of strategic planning. The marketing component of the business plan and how university personnel can facilitate this effort will be discussed.
