Objective: The aim of the present randomized clinical study was to evaluate the distalization and intrusion effect of an Infra-zygomatic mini-screws supported appliance and compare it with high pull headgear appliance in treatment of growing patients with class II malocclusion. Methodology: 22 growing boys aged between (10 to 12 years) with class II div 1 malocclusion randomly divided to 2 equal groups. The first group treated with high pull headgear with acrylic splint and the second one treated with an Infra-zygomatic mini-screws supported appliance. The treatment duration was 8 months for both groups. Lateral cephalometric radiographs were taken before and after the treatment for each patient to be analyzed. Results: The maxillary first molar distalization was 2.58±2.31 mm in head gear group and 1.53±2.83 mm in mini-screws group. There was no significant maxillary first molar intrusion in both groups. There were no significant differences between the two groups. Conclusions: the mini-screws supported appliance can be used as the fixed replacement of the removable high pull headgear appliance with no need for patient cooperation.

Background: Snehan(oleation) has a great role in all Panchakarma procedures. The therapeutic procedure by which greasiness is imparted to the body using different kinds of fat (Ghrita, Tail, Vasa, Majja etc) is called Snehan. Snehpan where fat substances are given in increasing doses by Ayurveda physicians, patients may have a fear that it will increase their cholesterol levels, there is this belief that if you consume ghrita, oil etc, it will in- crease your cholesterol levels and also increases the risk of heart disease. We conducted lipid profile reports be- fore and after Shodhnarth Snehpan in 10 patients in Janseva Ayurvedic Hospital, Surendranagar, Gujarat, India. Objectives: to observe Lipid Profile changes before and after Shodhanarth Snehpan. Management and Out- come: S. cholesterol, Triglycerides, LDL, VLDL in all 10 patients were decreased. HDL however increased which is good cholesterol. Conclusion: The study requires a large group for more specific data. From this study, we can say Snehpan does not increase S.cholesterol levels. Keywords: Lipid profile changes, Shodhanarth snehpan.

The assessment of skin conditions by digital images as part of the evaluation of treatment efficacy is not widely used in podiatry. The main objective of our study was to evaluate quantitative measuring of tinea pedis (athlete's foot) related medical endpoints via digital images of the affected feet areas before and after treatment as a supporting tool for podiatrists. In order to do so, we analyzed photographs taken of patients who had participated in a previous clinical study. During this already published study, the patient's fungal feet infections were treated only by wearing of antifungal socks containing copper oxide. The efficacy of the treatment was then determined solely by clinical observations of the podiatrist. In the current study, we randomly and blindly analyzed 282 digital images of patient's feet taken before and after using the socks in the pilot study. The affected feet areas, in which the tinea pedis infection was manifested by fissuring, scaling, erythema and/or vesicular eruptions, were determined before and after treatment by using ImageTool software. Statistical analysis of these determinations demonstrated a significant reduction in the severity of all 4 endpoints analyzed (p<0.05). This is in accordance with the results described in the published study, further establishing that using socks containing copper oxide is efficacious in treating tinea pedis. The present study thus demonstrates that statistical analysis of quantitative data obtained from digital images taken during treatment of tinea pedis is feasible and may serve as a tool for podiatrists in monitoring treatment.

Sthaulya / Atisthaulya in Ayurveda comes under the heading of Medoroga which results due to dysfunc-tion of Meda Dhatvagni (factor responsible for nourishment / metabolism of Meda dhatu) and in modern parlance it is equated with Obesity due to its close similarities. It is the main cause for so many complica-tions like Hypertension, Diabetes mellitus, Osteoarthritis, Infertility, Impotency etc. as well as psychologi-cal disturbances like anxiety, depression etc. Thus, the mortality and morbidity rate were high in obese per-sons compared to others. This shows the importance of the need for further researches of effective measures in the management of Sthaulya. Hence in the present study a clinical trial was carried out with Trikatu Churna in the management of Sthaulya (obesity) for 30 days. 30 patients were selected with diag-nosis of Sthaulya out of which 24 completed the treatment. The study concluded with the positive results of Trikatu churna in reducing the signs and symptoms of Sthaulya.

Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is a virus (retrovirus) which belongs to the Lentifirus family. Retroviruses have the ability to use their RNA and host DNA to form DNA viruses and are recognized during long incubation periods. HIV infects the body with a long incubation period (clinic-latent), causing damage to the system and causing the appearance of signs and symptoms of AIDS. The purpose of this study was to determine the absorption of knowledge about HIV/ AIDS in students at Endang Darma Ayu Vocational School before and after counseling. The study applied pre experimental design and One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The study population was all students of class XII at Endang Darma Ayu Vocational High School Indramayu totaling 140 students. Samples were taken by random sampling with a total of 63 students. The independent variable was counseling about HIV /AIDS. The dependent variable was knowledge concerning HIV / AIDS. Bivariate analysis was done using paired T-test. Based on the results of the paired T test, the p-value 0.000 was less than 0.05, so there was a significant difference in knowledge about HIV / AIDS in students at Endang Darma Ayu Vocational School before and after counseling. Parents are expected to supervise their children's friendship networking. It is also expected to the health department and related sectors to improve the implementation of the Information Center and Adolescent Reproductive Health Counseling Program so as to increase the knowledge and attitudes of adolescents towards HIV-AIDS

Abstract Background Migraine is a primary headache disorder and is the most common disabling primary headache disorder that occurs in children and adolescents. A recent study showed that paranasal air suction can provide relief to migraine headache. However, in order to get the maximum benefit out of it, an easy to use effective air sucker should be available. Aiming to fulfil the above requirement, a randomized, double blind control clinical trial was conducted to investigate the efficacy of a recently developed low–pressure portable air sucker. Methods Eighty-six Sri Lankan school children of age 16–19 years with migraine were used for the study. They were randomly allocated into two groups, and one group was subjected to six intermittent ten-second paranasal air suctions using the portable air sucker for 120 seconds. The other group was subjected to placebo air suction (no paranasal air suction). The effect of suction was the key concern but effect of side of headache, type of headache, and gender were also studied with respect to number of response variables. The key response studied was severity of headache. In addition, left and right supraorbital tenderness, photophobia, phonophobia, numbness over the face and scalp, nausea and generalized tiredness/weakness of the body were studied. The measurements on all those variables were made before and after suction, and the statistical analysis was performed based on before and after differences. As a follow–up, patients were monitored for 24-hour period. Results There was a significant reduction in the severity of headache and other migraine symptoms in the treatment group compared to the control group two minutes after the suction. These symptoms did not recur within 24-hour period and there were no significant side effects recorded during the 24-hour observation period. Conclusion This pilot study showed that low–pressure portable air sucker is effective in paranasal air suction, and suction for 120 seconds using the sucker can provide an immediate relief which can last for more than 24-hour period without any side effects.Trail registration Clinical Trial Government Identification Number – 1548/2016.
