Bancassurance is one of the new distribution channels and is currently a particularly effective insurance distribution channel in the world and in Vietnam. From the general overview of bancassurance, benefits of bancassurance to insurance companies, the article assesses MIC's current situation of bancassurance distribution channel development in commercial banks in Vietnam. The bancassurance channel's sharp increase of revenue and commission showed that MIC's bancassurance distribution channel grew year by year from 2016 to 2020. Along with that, MIC has signed bancassurance cooperation agreements with 5 banking partners such as MB, VP Bank… and some other banks. However, MIC's growth rate of bancassurance distribution channel is still slow compared to other insurance enterprises. Recognizing those shortcomings, the research team has proposed a number of solutions to develop bancassurance distribution channel such as establishing a specialized bancassurance department, strengthening coordination between parties and investing in dedicated technology for bancassurance, strengthen training, developing human resources and building a mechanism to promote bancassurance distribution channel operations.

Chapter 4 details the structural arrangements that facilitated foreign travel to the Warsaw Autumn. It focuses on the non-performers who went to Poland to hear the festival concerts, either as invited special guests or as tourists. The chapter argues that these travelers’ journeys contributed to the circulation of information, ideas, values, financial assets, and objects that took place via the Warsaw Autumn; consequently, their journeys enabled the festival’s effects to extend far beyond Poland. Moreover, the festival’s foreign travelers served an economic function, in that they allowed composers and other players to mobilize resources, accumulate prestige, access new distribution channels, and expand their personal and professional networks. Drawing on work by Stephen Greenblatt as well as Steven Vertovec, this chapter introduces the themes of literal versus metaphorical mobility, and international versus transnational forms of cross-border contact, that will be important throughout the second half of the book.

The determinants and/or economic effects of modern food distribution channels have attracted much attention in previous research. Studies on the welfare consequences of modern channel options, however, have been sparse. Based on a broader definition of modern food distribution channels including midstream processors and downstream retailers (supermarkets, hypermarkets, brand-named retailers), this study contributes to the existing body of knowledge by exploring the distributional implications of farm households’ choice of modern food distribution channels using a large and unique farm household dataset in Taiwan. Making use of the two-step control function approach, we identify the effect of modern food distribution options on farm households’ profitability. The results reveal selling farm produce to modern food distributors does not produce a positive differential compared to the traditional outlets. Another dimension of farm household welfare affected by the choice of modern food distribution channel is income inequality. We apply the Lerman and Yitzhaki decomposition approach to gain a better understanding of the effect of the marketing channel option on the overall distribution of farm household income. The Gini decomposition of different income sources indicates that the choice of modern food distribution channels results in an inequality-equalizing effect among the farm households in Taiwan, suggesting the inclusion of smallholder farmers in the modern food distribution channels improves the overall welfare of the rural society.

Marketing departments, governments and policymakers all around the world have increasingly started embracing the field of behavioural sciences in improving the design of products and services, enhancing communications, improving managerial decision-making, encouraging desired behaviour by stakeholders and, more generally, creating a human-centric marketplace. Within organisations, the human resources management (HRM) function is perhaps the one place that acknowledges that humans are central to the organisation’s success, so it is critical that HRM too actively embraces the insights and methods of behavioural sciences. In this article, I provide an overview of the behavioural sciences, discuss how HRM can benefit from an in-depth knowledge of the science and illustrate specific examples from recruitment processes, training and communications, incentive design, employee-oriented processes, and diversity and inclusion initiatives that could benefit from evidence from behavioural sciences.

The proliferation of crises around the world has led to a sharp increase in the scale of humanitarian aid required to meet the vital needs of the people affected by them for food, water, medical care and shelter. Humanitarian organizations can either meet those needs directly or support local services engaged in the same work. In most cases, both approaches are used.
