Determinar la composición corporal y las diferentes características físicas y condicionales fue el primer objetivo planteado en este estudio, donde se valoraron a 45 jugadores de balonmano masculino de la Región de Murcia, correspondiente a la categoría juvenil. Los clubes analizados han sido el Murcia, Alhama, Jumilla y Águilas. El segundo objetivo de este trabajo consiste en establecer diferencias entre los equipos valorados y las líneas de juego de carácter ofensivo. El proceso de recogida de datos antropométricos se llevó a cabo siguiendo el protocolo estipulado por el ISAK. El análisis estadístico realizado fue en primer lugar descriptivo y, posteriormente, un análisis inferencial para establecer las diferencias estadísticas entre los distintos equipos y sus líneas de juego, en todas las variables de estudio. La valoración condicional se centró básicamente en la determinación del somatotipo, en la evaluación de la velocidad de lanzamiento y en la fuerza isométrica de tren superior. Los equipos de la parte superior de la tabla presentan valores superiores en las variables antropométricas pero sin ser estadísticamente significativas estas diferencias. Se constata la importancia de la mesomorfia como característica predominante en el somatotipo del jugador de balonmano. Las mayores velocidades se alcanzaron en los lanzamientos en los que hay desplazamiento previo.Abstract: The aim of this study was two fold, first to determine the body composition, physical and conditional characteristics of male handball players, who were playing in juvenile level in Murcia. A Second objective was to establish differences among the teams evaluated and offensive playing lines. The teams analyzed were playing in Murcia, Alhama, Jumilla and Águilas. 45 juvenile male handball players participated in this study. Anthropometric data were collected following ISAK protocols. A descriptive statistical analysis was made in order to obtains means and standard deviation of the simple. An ANOVA analysis was performed in order to establish differences among teams and its playing lines. The somatotype, throwing velocity and grip were analyzed in all teams The best teams show higher values in anthropometric variables than the worts, but these differences does not reach statistical significance. Mesomorphy is a very important characteristic in handball player. Higher throwing velocities were reach in throwings with previous displacements.

Objective: To analyze the frequency of implementation of bariatric surgery (CB) performed in "Brazil" between the years "2011 to 2019", that is, nine (09) years. Method: Exploratory, descriptive study with a quantitative approach. The data were extracted from the Brazilian Society of Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery (SBCBM). Descriptive statistical analysis was implemented. The results were presented using explanatory tables and graphs. Results: The universa of 493.212 CB performed was identified, with a mean and standard deviation of (54,801±11,300.2). The year 2019 registered the highest preponderance with 13.9% (n=68.530) and 2011 registered the lowest preponderance with 7% (n=34.629). 79.9% (n=394.101) CB were financed by Health Plans, 15.3% (n=75.624) by SUS and 4.8% (n=23.487) by private institutions. Final considerations: There was an increase in the frequency of CB records made in the analyzed geographical and historical section. Descriptors: Obesity; Morbid obesity; Bariatric surgery.

Statistics today represent a group of scientific methods for the quantitative and qualitative investigation of variations in mass appearances. In fact, statistics present a group of methods that are used for the accumulation, analysis, presentation and interpretation of data necessary for reaching certain conclusions. Statistical analysis is divided into descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistics. The values which represent the results of an experiment, and which are the subject of observation of a certain occurrence, are called parameters and they are divided into descriptive and numerical. All numerical parameters are divided into non-continuous and continuous. The graphic presentation of the distribution of frequencies can be by poligon or histogram. The most frequently applied descriptive statistical methods are: arithmetic mean, standard deviation, standard error of arithmetic mean, variation coefficient, and variation interval.

Ascorbic acid is a water-soluble vitamin provided with strong antioxidant action, that fulfills an important immune protective role of the body against infections and prevents various cancers appearance. The main goal of this study was to exactly quantify pure ascorbic acid in tablets of two pharmaceuticals. Proposed objective consisted in improvement and application of a iodometric titration method in ascorbic acid quantitative analysis. Ascorbic acid content per tablet in both studied pharmaceuticals was 173.84 mg, very close to official stated amount of active substance (180 mg). Allowed percentage deviation from declared content of pure ascorbic acid was only 3.42 %, below maximum value of � 5 % imposed by Romanian Pharmacopoeia 10-th Edition, according to European and International standards. Statistical analysis confirmed experimental obtained results and revealed low Standard Error value SE = 0.214476, which has fallen within normal limits. Confidence Level value (95.0 %) = 0.551328 and Standard Deviation SD = 0.525357. were within normal range of values. Relative Standard Deviation (Coefficient of variation or homogeneity) RSD = 26.268% was found below maximum range of accepted values (30-35%). P value = 7.44. 10-6 was located within normal limits, P [ 0.001, so the experimental obtained results has shown highest statistical significance. Thus, studied titration method can be successfully used in quantitative analysis of ascorbic acid from different samples.

To study the relationship between health and nutritional status in elderly populations, information about body composition is essential. To collect this information in large epidemiological studies, practical methods based on anthropometric data must be available. In the present study the relationship between body composition, determined by densitometry, and anthropometric data in 204 elderly men and women, aged 60–87 years, was analysed. Existing prediction equations described in the literature, and mainly based on young and middle-aged subjects, generally underestimated percentage body fat in the elderly study population. Therefore, new prediction equations were developed, based on sex and the sum of two (biceps and triceps) or four (biceps, triceps, suprailiaca and subscapula) skinfolds or the body mass index (BMI). Addition of age or body circumferences to the models did not improve the prediction of body density. Internal cross validation and external validation revealed that the formulas are valid for the estimation of body density in elderly subjects. The standard errors of estimate of the three models, expressed as percentage body fat, were 5.6, 5.4 and 4.8% respectively.

Flat jockeys in Great Britain (GB) are classified as apprentices if they are aged less than 26 years and/or have ridden less than 95 winners. To gain experience, apprentices are allocated a weight allowance of up to 7 lb (3.2 kg). Given that there is no off-season in GB flat horseracing, jockeys are required to maintain their racing weight all year round. In light of recent work determining that current apprentices are considerably heavier than previous generations and that smaller increases have been made in the minimum weight, the aim of this study was to assess if the minimum weight in GB was achievable. To make the minimum weight (50.8 kg) with the maximal weight allowance requires a body mass of ∼46.6 kg while maintaining a fat mass >2.5 kg (the lowest fat mass previously reported in weight-restricted males). Thirty-two male apprentice jockeys were assessed for body composition using dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry. The mean (SD) total mass and fat mass were 56 (2.9) kg and 7.2 (1.8) kg, respectively. Given that the lowest theoretical body mass for this group was 51.2 (2.3) kg, only one of 32 jockeys was deemed feasible to achieve the minimum weight with their current weight allowance and maintaining fat mass >2.5 kg. Furthermore, urine osmolality of 780 (260) mOsmol/L was seen, with 22 (out of 32) jockeys classed as dehydrated (>700 mOsmols/L), indicating that body mass would be higher when euhydrated. Additionally, we observed that within new apprentice jockeys licensed during this study (N = 41), only one jockey was able to achieve the minimum weight. To facilitate the goal of achieving race weight with minimal disruptions to well-being, the authors’ data suggest that the minimum weight for GB apprentices should be raised.

60 samples were collected, 40 samples were for patients with CO-19 and 20 samples were for healthy control people. Tests were performed to know the patients people through the ADVIA Chemistry XPT System and an analysis was performed to find out the ratio of ferritin to patients based on I CHORMA. As for the LDH analysis, use the Cedex Bio Analyzer to find results were found that showed the great effect on ferritin and LDH, where the ratio of standard deviation to LDH to patients people was 441.5641 ±  234.80 and for control 185.08 ±  35.26 as for the analysis of ferritin, where the ratio of standard deviation was 853.92 ±  516.13 to patients people and for control 88.48 ±  59.44 And through the work of statistical analysis to know the effect of the CO-19 on the abnormal ratio, as the statistical analysis proved that there is a positive effect on ferritin and LDH to patients  people and the control has a negative effect, and this explains the reason for the lack of the amount of iron present in the body is little if the person is a carrier of the disease

Estrus synchronization methods was use to control the reproductive traits of sheep, as well as bringing more females at the same stage of estrus and ovulation. According to the points mentioned above, the aim of the present study was to investigate and compare mating method and influence of fixed factors on birth and weaning weight of lambs. Statistical analysis showed that exist difference in the body weights between genotypes of lambs. In the first group, the difference in weight of lambs at birth, regardless of mating method was not significant (P> 0.05), while in the second group, the difference was slightly significant (P <0.05). As for the birth type, sex and within the same genotype, there was a statistical significance (P <0.05) between singles obtained naturally, between the triplets obtained naturally and between triplets received hormonal method. All the differences between body weight at 30 days (mating method, sex and birth type under the same genotype) were statistically significant (P <0.05).The determined differences in the body weights at 60 days (sex, mating method and type of birth under the same genotype) were statistically significant (P <0.05). The results showed that the differences (mating method, sex and type of birth under the same genotype) were statistically significant (P <0.05), except in between body weight at 90 days in twins among two genotypes obtained by natural method, which were not statistically significant (P> 0.05).

Abstract Background and Aims Technically assisted assessment of volume status before cardiac surgery may be useful to direct intraoperative fluid administration. Using a three-compartment physiologic tissue model, the body composition monitor (BCM, In Body) measures total body fluid volume, extracellular volume, intracellular volume and fluid overload as surplus or deficit of ‘normal’ extracellular volume. Fluid overload is a risk factor for infection, increased re intubation rates, pneumonia and acute kidney injury in these high risk patients. This study is planned to use BCM to assess fluid status in patients undergoing cardiac surgery and correlating it with the risk of AKI AIMS: To do BCM analysis of patients undergoing major cardiac surgery to assess fluid status and renal outcomes Primary Objective To use BCM to assess fluid status in patients undergoing cardiac surgery and correlate it with the risk of acute kidney injury Secondary Objectives To assess the correlation of fluid status obtained by BCM to assess 1. In hospital mortality in patients with and without AKI Method The studyis being conducted at Madras Medical Mission, Chennai. Time period : 1 year ( June 1 2019- May 31 2020) Inclusion criteria All consecutive patients above 18 years of age undergoing cardiac surgery Exclusion criteria 1. No informed consent 2. Patients having metal implants, pace makers 3. Pregnant and lactating mothers After informed consent, all adult patients undergoing cardiac surgery will have a BCM analysis done by the dietician .( Free of Charge) The BCM analysisInbody S10) will be done on Day 0( preoperative), Day 2 and Day 5 . Data will be collected according to a set proforma ( Attached) . Analysis will be performed using the SPSS platform. Results In this pilot study, 134 patients who underwent major cardiac surgery were enrolled. Of these 44 patients developed AKI as defined by KDIGO criteria( 22 Stage 1, 15 stage 2, and 7 stage 3). There was no statistical significance in the baseline characteristics when compared to age, gender, htn, ckd between patients with and without aki. Overhydration as measured by ECW/TBW ration of &gt; 0.38 was significantly higher on day 2 and 5 in patients who developed AKI .(P&lt;0.00, All 44 patients in aki versus 40 in the non aki group). The PBF, ICW, BMI nad overall BCM score was higher in patient with AKI ( p&lt;0.00). 7 patients required RRT( 6 SLED and 1 Acute PD). There was 1 death in theAKI group. The mean duration of hospital stay was longer ( 14 +/- 5 vs 7 +/- 3.5 ) in the AKI grroup Conclusion There is not much data on BCM and fluid assessment in cardiac surgery patients. These patients have many risk factors and a failing heart and associated renal dysfunction in many makes it very difficult to guide volume therapy in these patients. Many of the so called standard objective measures in assessing volume are not fool- proof . This study will be one of the firsts from India to assess fluid status in these patients and help in guiding therapy and also knowing the outcomes of such an objective measurement

ABSTRACT: The aim of this study was to describe the causes of death in Thoroughbred horses at the Racetrack “La Rinconada”, in Caracas (Venezuela) during 2008-2012. This study was conducted in a cohort of all Thoroughbred horses that died or were subjected to euthanasia. Data was collected retrospectively. Only horses for which a full necropsy report was available were included in the study. The carcass and all internal organs of each horse were examined and representative samples of tissues with abnormalities were collected in 10% neutral buffered formalin and processed for histopathological examination. Samples were collected for bacteriological or virological examination when indicated in gross examination. A descriptive statistical analysis was performed. A total of 532 Thoroughbred horses were examined post-mortem. Of these horses, 44% were females and 56% males. In general musculoskeletal injuries and dilaceration occurred specifically at higher frequency. The total year and horses dead for descriptive statistical analysis was to mean 106.4 and median 125; Standard Deviation: 47.82573; variation (Standard Deviation): 2287.3, population (Standard Deviation): 42.77663 and variance (Standard Deviation): 18229.84. In conclusion we identify and describe the causes of death in Thoroughbred Race Horses in Caracas, Venezuela. In order of importance the causes of death were principally skeletal muscle injuries resulting in fractures euthanasia, abdominal crisis were mostly bowel twists and gastric rupture andrespiratory pathologies such as the pneumonia, pleuritis presented a significant number of cases of pulmonary hemorrhage induced by exercise. Finally the multisystem pathologies were presented in low cases.

Abstract Background Prevalence of CRKP bloodstream infection with high mortality has attached physicians' attention. High-VAT and high-SAT were confirmed by previous studies that closely related to increased pneumonia severity, more complications, and higher mortality in COVID-19. Thus, we speculate that CT-quantified body composition may also be connected to all-cause mortality and bacterial clearance in patients with CRKP bloodstream infection. Methods We investigated the associations of CT-quantified body composition with CRKP bloodstream infectious patients. All of the CT images were obtained at the level of the L3/4 spinal level. The prognostic value of the body composition was analyzed using the Cox regression model, and precise clinical nomograms were established. Results Factors associated with 30-day all-in hospital mortality included TAT [adjusted odds ratio (OR) = 1.028, 95% confidence interval (CI), 1.004–1.053; p = 0.028], age [OR = 1.031, 95% CI, 1.001–1.062; p = 0.046] and SOFA score [OR = 1.137, 95% CI 1.047–1.235; p = 0.002]. Compared with low-VAT, patients with high-VAT show a strikingly poor prognosis in both 30-day mortality (P = 0.0449, Fig. 2A) and all-cause mortality (P = 0.0048, Fig. 2C). The results of TAT were similar with VAT. Conclusions Our study suggests that CT-derived composition could be a credible and effective alternative to assess the prognosis of patients with BSIs owing to CRKP. CT-quantified total adipose tissue, age and SOFA scores were independently associated with 30-day all-cause mortality in these severe infectious patients, while skeletal muscle did not have obvious statistical significance.
