Many new learning models in the 21st century have emerged in improving students' academic skills, one of which is research-based learning (RBL). This pedagogic and constructivist model connects research and learning in improving students' critical thinking skills (CTS). The results of the study show that studies in empowering students' CTS using RBL are still limited. Therefore, exploration and deeper measurement of CTS with the RBL model were carried out through this study. The purpose of this study was to improve students' CTS using the RBL learning model. The results of the ANCOVA test showed that there was an effect of the RBL model in improving students' CTS. Descriptive data also shows that the average value of CTS is 72.70 using RBL, while students who take part in learning using conventional models show an average value of critical thinking skills of 58.30. Thus, RBL can be recommended in increasing the CTS of elementary school students in science learning.

In the 21st century learning is already entered to the digital era , which is many educational practitioners  have developed and designing a digital-based learning such as online learning.  However Online learning still needs the other learning namely face-to-face learning.  That is why Educational experts combine these two lessons mode into a new learning theory called by Blended Learning. Blended learning is a combination of online learning, offline learning, and face-to-face learning, because there are many  researchs prove that blended learning has more influential rather than online learning or face-to-face leaarning in improving students’ learning intrest rather than online learning or face-to-face learning. Blended learning may apply by using these following combination namely 50/50, 75/25, or 25/75 from the learning period alocation. There are some cases need to be consideration in designing a blended learning, it is about how to make the learning is so interesting and suitable with the characteristic of students’ learning style.

Since the increase of Indonesian people exposed to Covid-19 was massively reported, our government has tried to find best solution to overcome this situation, one of them is conducting online learning for the students. At STIA Nusa, English learning which was originally done offline, was changed to online with the obligation to use several online media applications such as Zoom, Edmodo and Whatssap. The purpose of this study was to look at the students’ perception and ask the results of their English skills as well as offline learning. This research used qualitative, with data collection techniques are interviews with 128 students. The research results showed that 1). Zoom presents a new learning model even though most of them still say the lack of interaction, 2). The use of Edmodo for  them is more interactive because they are able to repeat lessons and discuss with friends if there is a lack of understanding about learning and its user friendly features such as Facebook 3) the use of WhatsApp groups makes it easier for them to ask questions with the lecturer and through the voice note feature the lecturer can provide feedback what they need and through this application students can be rewarded so that it gives them the motivation to learn more during the pandemic.
