The study was conducted to determine the perceived effect of motivational strategies of promotion and work environment on the job performance of library personnel of universities in Benue State. Two objectives were stated to find out the perceived effect of timely promotion and good work environment of library personnel of universities in Benue State. Two research questions drawn and two hypotheses formulated in line with the stated objectives. Survey research design was adopted. The study population was 223 library personnel from Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Benue State University, Makurdi and University of Mkar, Mkar, both in Nigeria. The entire population was used as sample for the study. Mean values were used to answer research questions while one way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was used to the test hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The study found that timely promotion and good work environment have significant difference on job performance of library personnel of universities in Benue State. The study recommended therefore, that work environment of the university libraries in Benue State should be made conducive by the provision of adequately equipped and well ventilated space, ICT gadgets such as computers, internet connectivity, for enhanced job performance.

Two research questions and two hypotheses were also formulated in line with the formulated objectives. The survey research design was adopted. The study population was 223 library personnel from the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Benue State University, Makurdi, and University of Mkar, Mkar. The entire population was used for the study hence there was no sample and sampling. A self-structure questionnaire was used for data collection. The questionnaire was subjected to face and content validity. Cronbach alpha was used to test the reliability of the instrument which yielded a value of 0.94. Mean values were used to answer research questions while one-way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was used to test hypotheses at 0.5 level of significance. The study found that training and salary payments have a significant difference in job performance of library personnel of universities in Benue State. The study recommended, therefore, that university library personnel should be sent for constant training and retraining; they should also be paid salaries for optimum job performance.

The study examined the challenges of the realisation of a world-class university at Kwara State University, Malete, Nigeria. Two research questions and two null hypotheses were formulated for the study. Descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. The population of the study was 1,078 lecturers out of which 245 lecturers were sampled. Challenges of the Realization of World-class University Questionnaire (CRSWUQ) constructed by the researchers were used for data collection for the study. Percentage was used to answer the research questions while Mann Whitney U-test was used to test the hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The findings revealed among others that: world class status of a university is simply about the international recognition of the university. A world class university has world class departments, diversified sources of income, sound financial base and always benchmarked with top universities world-wide. Lack of physical infrastructure which is obviously the most visible part of the university, the pressure of publish or perish culture which undermines the quality of research and absence of public financial support are some of the challenges that could hinder the world-class status of Kwara State University. Based on the findings, it was recommended that the state government, KWASU management, academic staff and the entire university community should work together to overcome the identified challenges that could hinder the realization of a world class status of KWASU.

<p>The study evaluated the extent to which Continuous Assessment (CA) was practiced by university lecturers in Delta State University, Abraka, Nigeria. The evaluation of continuous assessment focused on the cognitive, affective and psychomotor domains of students’ behaviour. That is teaching and learning should focus on these areas. Two research questions were raised, and two hypotheses were tested to achieve the purpose of the study. A sample of 200 lecturers was randomly selected using simple random sampling and stratifies random sampling techniques. A 5-point scaled questionnaire was used as an instrument to collect data. The validity of the instrument was determined through expert judgement and factor analysis. Thus the instrument has face and construct validities. The reliability of the instrument was established through Cronbach Alpha. A reliability coefficient of 0.86 was obtained as a measure of internal consistency. The data collected were analyzed. The research questions were answered with the use of mean. The hypotheses were tested with Z-test at .05 level of significance. The result of evaluation revealed that the extent to which university lecturers practice continuous assessment with emphasis on the cognitive, affective and psychomotor domains of students’ behaviour was low. There was no significant difference between male and female as well as junior and senior lecturers on the practice of continuous assessment in the university. It was noted that there should be a continuous and effective monitoring of continuous assessment practice by the university lecturers.</p><p> </p><p> </p>

<p class="apa">The study examined ‘Students’ Involvement in Social Networking and attitudes towards its Integration into Teaching. The study was carried out in the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. The population of the study consisted of 17,618 undergraduate students enrolled into full time degree programmes in the University of Uyo for 2014/2015 academic session. The design of the study was survey design with ex-post facto approach. Random sampling technique was used to select 1730 students from the 12 faculties in the University. The instrument used for the study was ‘Students’ Social Networking and Attitude Questionnaire which was validated by an expert in curriculum studies and an expert in measurement and evaluation in the University of Uyo. Cronbach’s Alpha Statistical method was used to determine the reliability coefficient of .70 for the instrument. Two research questions and two null hypotheses tested at .05 level of significance guided the study. Mean and Standard Deviation were used to answer research questions; Independent t-test and Analysis of Variance were used to test the hypotheses. The results show that there is significant difference in involvement of university undergraduate students in Social Networking based on course of study, level (year) of study and age. Female undergraduate students’ involvement in social networking is higher than that of their male counterparts; but male undergraduate students showed a higher positive attitude towards integration of social networking into teaching and learning.</p>

Organizational commitment is considered an essential concept for ensuring work and staff motivation in a higher education setting. Therefore, this study aimed to assess the staffs’ degree of organizational commitment to the Faculty of Education, University of Khartoum. To investigate research questions, a survey questionnaire was conducted. Among 239 respondents, 106 staff members were surveyed (44.00%). The results indicated that the degree of staff affective, continuance, and normative commitment in the Faculty of Education, University of Khartoum, was high. This study also confirmed that the aggregate degree of organizational commitment among staff members in the Faculty of Education, University of Khartoum, was high. The study revealed no statistically significant difference in the degree of organizational commitment due to gender and academic rank variables. The study also found a statistically significant difference in affective and normative commitment in the degree of organizational commitment related to years of service. The study recommended improving the worldly position of the staff member to maintain a high degree of responsibility at the University of Khartoum.

The seeming decline in the quality of teachers in Nigeria necessitated this study. The study adopted the descriptive survey research design. Four research questions guided the study while three hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance. The population of the study comprised 323 respondents made up of 240 final students and 83 lecturers in the seven Departments of the faculty of Education Imo State University, Owerri. The entire population was used for the study. A researcher developed questionnaire was the instrument used for data collection. The instrument was validated by three experts. The Cronbach’s alpha method was used to determine the internal consistency of the items and it yielded a reliability coefficient of 0.74. The researchers with the help of four research assistants distributed and successfully collected 298 copies of the questionnaire administered. The research questions were answered using the mean, while the hypotheses were tested using z-test at 0.05 level of significance. It was found among others that pre-observational techniques were used to a very low extent t in Imo state university Owerri for teaching practice supervision. Based on the findings of the study, it was recommended among others that conference, workshops and seminars should be organized for lecturers at Imo State University where various techniques of clinical supervision will be exposed to them towards ensuring qualitative teaching practice supervision.

This research was embarked upon to find out about knowledge of HIV/AIDS, its sources and behaviour change of undergraduate university students of Ekiti State University, South west Nigeria: Implications for counselling. In order to carry out the investigation, the researcher formulated three research questions and one hypothesis to guide the investigation. The instrument used in the collection of data is “Knowledge of HIV/AIDS, its Sources and Behaviour Change Questionnaire” (KHASBCQ). The instrument that was made up of 26 items was subjected to a reliability test. The instrument was administered on 30 respondents who were not part of the main investigation. The test- retest was used to analyse the data collected from the 30 respondents. The reliability coefficient obtained was 0.87. The instrument, have language appropriateness and content validity. The investigator used 2 research assistants to administer 251 copies of the questionnaire on the respondents in the university. The research assistants retrieved 210 copies of the questionnaire from the respondents. The mean and standard deviation were used to answer the research questions and the t- test was used to test the hypothesis at 0.05 level of significance. The findings showed that the undergraduate university students have knowledge of HIV/AIDs. The sources of knowledge of HIV/AIDS by the students include: television, newspaper, friends and internet. The knowledge of HIV/AIDs by the students have led to behaviour change in them. There is behaviour change in the students because they no longer indulge in anal sex, they now have sex with only one partner, they make use of condom when having sexual intercourse. One of the recommendations is that both government and private radio networks are advised to educate the students and entire members of the society about the existence of HIV/AIDS so that they can have behaviour change such as having only one sexual partner.

This paper adopted a descriptive design to investigate the awareness level and the perception of secondary school Physics teachers towards Nanotechnology in Port Harcourt Metropolis of Rivers State. The population of the study was 43 physics teachers comprising of 25 male and 18 female which was used from the 12 public secondary schools in Port Harcourt Metropolis in Rivers State. The instrument for the study was a self- made questionnaire titled, Nanotechnology Questionnaire on Awareness and Perception for Teachers (NQAPT) with a reliability of 0.85 obtained using Cronbach Alpha reliability formula. Two research questions and two null hypotheses guided the study. The research questions were answered using the criterion mean of 2.5 and standard deviation, while the null hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance using t- test. The findings revealed that the awareness level of Nanotechnology among teacher was low and their perception towards nanotechnology was positive. There is no significant difference between the awareness level and perception of the concept of Nanotechnology among male and female senior secondary school Physics teachers. Based on these findings, it is recommended that more awareness on the concept of Nanotechnology be created among secondary school teachers through symposium and science teaching workshop in order to publicize the benefits of nanotechnology to the society.

This study examines the effect of Creative Game Approach on Academic Achievement in the teaching of SS1 Geometry in Port Harcourt Local Government Area of River state. A sample size of 160 SS1 students was used for the study. Three research questions were asked while three hypotheses were formulated and tested. Geometry Achievement Test (GAT), a 40-item instrument was developed by the researcher. The instrument was validated by experts in Mathematics education, and measurement and evaluation department of University of Port Harcourt, while the reliability was established using test-retest and co-efficient index of 0.86 was determined using Pearson product moment correlation. Mean and Standard deviation was used to answer the research questions while Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) was used to test the hypotheses formulated at 0.05 level of significance. The result revealed a significant difference in the achievement mean scores of students taught geometry using creative game approach and those taught using conventional method. It equally showed a significant difference in the Mathematics ability of students taught using creative game approach, also showed no significant difference in the achievement mean scores of male and female students. Based on the findings, it was recommended among others that Mathematics teachers be effectively trained to use different educational creative activities, like games and so on when teaching Mathematics concepts for problem-solving, communication, reasoning and connection skills which are necessary for the attainment of better academic achievement in the subject.

The study investigated the nature, causes, effects of indiscipline among staff of tertiary educational institutions owned by Ebonyi State government and strategies to be adopted in order to curb indiscipline among the staff. The study was guided by four research questions and three null hypotheses. The population of the study was 500 respondents. Questionnaire was used to collect data from the respondents. The questionnaire was validated by five experts from the department of Science Education of Enugu State University of Science and Technology. The reliability index of the instrument was 0.84 obtained through test-retest procedure via pearson’s product moment correlation. Mean scores were used to answer the research questions while t-test was used to analyze the hypotheses at 0.05 alpha level of significance. The results of the study revealed the nature, causes, effects and strategies to be adopted to curb indiscipline among staff of tertiary educational institutions owned by Ebonyi State government. Based on the findings, some recommendations were made to include, the adoption of the recommended and accepted strategies to curb indiscipline among staff of Ebonyi State owned tertiary educational institutions.
