This study investigated the relationship between absurd humor in meme stills and the perceived humor among Generation Z students. Students of a high school in Northeast Ohio were given one of two seemingly identical surveys, each with a selection of six memes and individual Likert scales corresponding to the presented memes. A rubric was created with guidelines for visual components that was used to assign the presented memes an absurdity score with categories of “minimal absurdism,” “semi-absurd,” and “absurd.” Participants (n=298) were asked to rank the memes on the Likert scale ranging from a value of 1—not at all funny to a maximum value of 5—extremely funny. Following a chi-squared test, we can be over 99% confident that there is a present relationship between absurdist humor content in meme stills and how humorous they are rated by Generation Z students. These findings can be applied to the usage of memes in marketing, an ever-increasing function of meme humor, to make advertisements and communication more effective.

Using 51 manifestations of childhood dysfunction as index of adjustment, the relationship was investigated of 9 demographic characteristics of applicants for adoption to the adjustment of children, when aged 7 to 7 1/2 years, whom they had adopted. ‘Good adjustment’ was associated with the father having at least completed high school, having a non-manual occupation and an above median income. There was a trend for it to be also associated with the mother having at least completed high school, being under 30 years of age, and with the couple's non-committal on (i.e., not outright rejection of) the possibility of adopting a hard to place child. The findings were discussed critically and it was concluded that the study demonstrated the feasibility of establishing objective empirical criteria for the selection of adoption applicants.

This study was conducted in order to investigate the effect different media outlets have on Generation Z’s politicalknowledge in New York. Through a purposive sample, the political knowledge of 484 high school and college-agedstudents was tested using a Google Survey. The researcher conducted this research using a correlational studyresearch design. Each respondent was asked to complete a survey of 16 questions, 12 of those questions testingpolitical knowledge. The researcher calculated the correlations between the average percent correct for all mediaoutlets and the average percent correct for respondents who claimed they acquired their political information fromeach media outlet (social media, newspaper, radio, locally televised news and nationally televised news). Not everyage group in Generation Z was tested, due to the fact that many members of Generation Z are too young to completethe survey. Additional research that goes into more detail about which specific platform within each media outletleads to higher political knowledge scores, could help provide a greater understanding on how different mediaoutlets affect Generation Z’s political knowledge.

The objective of the present experiment was to test whether the relationship between feed composition and the efficiency of protein utilization in pigs was different between two very different breeds. Fortyeight entire male pigs, half Large White × Landrace (LW ×) and half Chinese Meishan (CM), were assigned at 13 kg live weight either to an initial slaughter group or to one of six feeding treatments for 6 weeks. The two feeds used were starch, with 12.52 MJ metabolizable energy (ME) and 0 kg digestible crude protein (DCP)/kg, and a high-protein feed, with 11.95 MJ ME and 0.362 kg DCP/kg. In the first week the LW × pigs were given 400 g high-protein feed/d with 0, 100, 200 or 300 g starch/d, or 200 g high-protein feed/d with 400 or 500 g starch/d. The six diets had ME:DCP ratios of between 33 and 119 MJ/kg. The diet compositions were held constant within each of the six treatments but the allowances were increased weekly on time-based linear scales to be 2.25 as great in week six as in week one. The allowances for the CM pigs were 0.75 of those for the LW ×. The calculated efficiency of protein utilization, ep, was found to be directly proportional, up to a maximum value, to the ME:DCP ratio of the diet for both breeds, as found previously for LW × male and female pigs. The overall constant of proportionality was ep = 0.0108 (SE 0.00024) ME:DCP, the value of which did not differ significantly between the two breeds. The maximum observed ep values were 0.710 (SE 0.014) and 0.824 (SE 0.016) for the LW × and CM pigs respectively. It is likely that the lower maximum value for the LW x pigs was an experimental artefact due to increased feed spillage by these pigs on the two highest starch allowances used. In previous experiments the maximum value of ep was found to be 0.813 for LW × pigs, a value similar to that found here for the CM pigs. The results are consistent with the view that the two very different pig breeds have the same net efficiency in using protein and use the same rules for partitioning a scarce resource such as energy.

The study investigates the relationship between subject swapping, availability, and pupil participation in the physical education lesson. A quantitative survey was undertaken, and amongst 512 survey respondents, a random selection of 140 pupils was chosen. Pearson correlation was performed after descriptive statistics was used to analyze the relative frequency on the proportion of time a value occurred. The findings indicate a strong, positive relationship amongst the three variables. The response of the pupils for all parameters suggested that the school switched physical education frequently. Pupils should be given opportunity and access to physical activity on a regular basis in order to develop physically and mentally.

Article visualizations:

According to GOST 34434-2018 the brake distance of the freight train is determined by summing up increase of the brake distance at intervals of the braking time. Value of the braking distance will depend on the value of the temporary interval at which the braking time is divided from the begging of the braking to the full stop of the freight train. For this reason it is necessary to choose the temporary interval value at which calculated braking distance of the freight train will correspond to real values. The task was solved by the method of determination of the freight train braking distance for a given range of the intervals values Δti: from (0,07 – 1,2) with a step of 0,01 s and 0,1 s. It is shown that a value of the temporary interval influences the braking distance. The range of interval values was determined (0,07 – 0,1) s, at which braking distances have the maximum value for preserving stability, with this it was determined that beyond the range the values of braking distances were decreased. Integration of the differential equation of the freight train operation ac-cording to the new rules is performed by summing up increases of the braking distance at braking time intervals. It was proposed to determine the braking distance of the freight train according to the temporary interval which is 0,1 s.
