Purpose: The study aims to explore the similarities and dissimilarities between William Shakespeare’s Macbeth and its film adaptation Maqbool by Vishal Bhardwaj. The study also aims to compare both the film and the play in terms of politics and power from a psychoanalytic perspective. Methodology/ Approach: This study is based on thematic analysis and the main changes when the original play is adapted to film, in order to check the variation from stage to screen. Adaptation theory, Sigmund Freud’s psychoanalysis theory are used in this analysis. Bollywood movie Maqbool (2003) by director Vishal Bhardwaj and William Shakespeare’s great tragedy Macbeth (1606) are used as primary sources for this analysis.  Findings: The result of the analysis indicates that film and drama are entirely different. When an original play is adapted into film, there are many merits and demerits.Shakespeare mounded more on poetic language than on spectacle and other scenic devices to create the necessary emotional effect. The Elizabethan theatre gores were more audiences than spectators. But the modern spectators habituated to the computer-generated technique of cinematography expect something considerably different. The result is that when the text of the play is converted into a screenplay, there will be a remarkable reduction in the number of spoken words because mainstream cinema depends for its effect largely on visual rather than dialogue. However, the director maintained the originality of play despite the additions and reductions. Conclusion: The paper throws light on the main changes from English Renaissance theatre to contemporary modern world or theatre. It depicts the Psychological behavioural differences and the power and political structures of the two different periods. The paper suggests that film adaptation is an effective and attractive tool to maintain the value and to understand the original text.

Abstract Ultimately, there has been an increase in the number of cases of newborns affected by microcephaly, knowledge of the caregiver's perceptions regarding the child with microcephaly may promote the construction of therapeutic plans by health professionals that meet the expressed current needs of the child and caregivers. Thus, the aim of the present study is to describe the perception of family caregivers about microcephaly, using Callista Roy's adaptation theory. The research is descriptive, exploratory and with qualitative approach and was conducted at a School Clinic, located in the municipality of Juazeiro do Norte. The research participants were family caregivers of children diagnosed with microcephaly. Minayo's thematic analysis was used, supported by Roy's adaptation theory. Through data analysis two categories emerged: Knowledge and perception of family caregivers about microcephaly and family as support to cope with difficulties. It was observed that mothers, faced with the condition of their son with microcephaly, tend to develop a certain level of adaptation to make the situation less traumatic, making use of available social, medical care and family devices. Therefore, it is emphasized that health professionals need to act effectively in care, facilitating and strengthening effective adaptive responses. Keywords: Microcephaly, child, family caregiver, Nursing Theories. In 1974, the Honolulu-based director James Grant Benton wrote and staged Twelf Nite O Wateva!, a Hawaiian pidgin translation of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night. In Benton’s translation, Malolio (Malvolio) strives to overcome his reliance on pidgin English in his efforts to ascend the Islands’ class hierarchy. In doing so, Malolio alters his native pidgin in order to sound more haole (white). Using historical models of Protestant identity and Shakespeare’s original text, Benton explores the relationship between pidgin language and social privilege in contemporary Hawai‘i. In the first part of this essay, I argue that Benton characterizes Malolio’s social aspirations against two historical moments of religious conflict and struggle: post-Reformation England and post-contact Hawai‘i. In particular, I show that Benton aligns historical caricatures of early modern puritans with cultural views of Protestant missionaries from New England who arrived in Hawai‘i beginning in the 1820s. In the essay’s second part, I demonstrate that Benton crafts Malolio’s pretentious pidgin by modeling it on Shakespeare’s own language. During his most ostentatious outbursts, Malolio’s lines consist of phrases extracted nearly verbatim from Shakespeare’s original play. In Twelf Nite, Shakespeare’s language becomes a model for speech that is inauthentic, affected, and above all, haole.

Testimony is a statement made by a witness who saw the incident by himself and was at the scene at that time. Nothing can escape this evidence in the afterlife, nor can it be manipulated in the slightest. So the source of the problem that will be discussed is how to witness the body and the interpretation of the rationality of the testimony of the limbs in QS. Yasin: 65. The research approach used by the author is a qualitative approach and is more inclined to follow library research and uses thematic analysis methods, this research will rely on the interpretation of Al-Jawahir Fi Tafsiril Qur'an by Tantawi Jauhari and books. as primary sources, research journals, and research theses as secondary sources. And what is relevant to this research, the results of the testimony of the limbs according to tantawi Jauhari are that the limbs will testify and it is not only in the afterlife, the body can testify against its owner. but even in the law that applies in the world, the limb that can be used to prove it, to reveal a crime such as murder or abuse. Here the limbs are like hands, it can help to expose the crime. One of them uses a DNA or fingerprint test, and only Allah will see what the testimony on the Day of Judgment is.

ABSTRACTThis article contains a study of film adaptation from a literature media (novel) into audio-visual media(film). This research is a case study of Perempuan Berkalung Sorban film by Hanung Bramantyo, whichwas adapted from a novel with the same title that was written by Abidah el-Khalieqy. By combining a textanalysis method from Thomas Leittch, Mathew T. Jones’ film adaptation theory and the result of interviewto confirm the text analysis, this research produced some interesting findings. The research verified thatthe adaptation’s process does not merely focus on technical issue in media adaptation (from novel tofilm), but also focuses on another aspects that will involve the audience i.e. a fact that text and dialoguebecome references that will be appreciated by audience. As a result, there were excessive distortions anddeviations on the text that were created by the film maker caused a bias interpretation. Audiences nolonger interpreted the film as a visual text objectively. Instead, they would think about certain prejudiceagainst the film maker. In film adaptation, certain tendencies of film maker are easy to be predicted byaudience. This fact has caused film adaptation becomes controversial easily. Keywords: Media Adaptation, Transformation, Opposition, ControversyABSTRAKArtikel ini berisi kajian tentang alih media, yakni dari media verbal sastra (novel) kemedia visualfilm.

Queens of Langkasuka is a film adaptation of the historical text entitled Sejarah Kerajaan Melayu Patani. The eminence of the female rulers of Patani is noteworthy, and has resulted in this film adaptation. The question is whether the facts and events in the film are as reflected in the original source, or if there have been any additions or omissions, and what of the original has been maintained. Therefore, the main objective of this study is to compare the film Queens of Langkasuka with the text of Sejarah Kerajaan Melayu Patani to view the extent of similarity between the film and the historical text. The second objective is to examine the adaptation techniques used by the director. To this end, adaptation theory was used to identify anything that has been added, removed or retained. This study was conducted using a qualitative method for text and film analysis and comparison, and it finds that all three adaptation techniques were used by the director and scriptwriters in the film Queens of Langkasuka. Comparison reveals that while much was added, much was also discarded and replaced or intentionally modified. Thus, Queens of Langkasuka is a successful work of art that is distinct from the historical text on which it is based.

This paper reports on a detailed thematic analysis of learners' evaluative comments at the end of a five-week academic writing MOOC run by a university in the UK which used a novel content+process MOOC approach. The authors wanted to identify whether this innovative approach to a MOOC course worked in terms of student satisfaction and achievement in mastering both the content and process of critically-based academic writing in second language (L2) English. The MOOC use of peer feedback, and limited availability of detailed expert feedback from educators and mentors, were the primary sources of negative evaluation. However, in general, they found an overwhelming delight in taking the course, demonstrating a clear sense of pride, achievement, and satisfaction of mastering an unfamiliar and difficult skill that many saw as crucial to their future life plans.

This article aims to establish the principles for the creation of Buddhist sacred places based on primary sources of the three major sects, namely, Theravāda, Mahāyāna, and Vajrayāna, and studied architecture based on promising secondary sources through case studies. The stated research question is to understand the interaction among Buddhist principles, human activities, and Buddhist architecture in order to develop the criteria for creating Buddhist sacred places in the context of the modern world. The results indicate that criteria should be considered in two aspects.  First, a method is required to characterize the context and environment that promotes the practice of virtues such as concentration and wisdom, resulting in mental development.  Second, and a method is needed for characterization of the context and activities performed that are appropriate for spiritual cultivation. The proposed criteria offer appropriate methods for developing sacred places in various societies, and contexts comprising any circumstances.
