Inclusive financial sectors are essential to poverty alleviation. While microcredit can be governed as a private good, self-managed civil society organizations propose an alternative way of managing financial services. Brazil’s Community Development Banks (CDBs) are growing and dynamic manifestations of these nonprofit organizations. Based on field research in Brazil, this article uses Elinor Ostrom’s design principles of successful self-governing common-pool resource organizations to analyze CDBs’ microcredit system. Our results suggest that private goods could be altered when they are governed by community self-managed enterprises. They become hybrid goods as they mix the characteristics of private and common goods. This change is facilitated by specific organizational arrangements such as self-governance that emerge from grassroots dynamics and the creation of collective-choice arenas. These arrangements help strengthen the inclusion properties of nonprofit microcredit services.

ISO 9000 is a quality management system widely used. ISO 9000 has begun being implemented in Malaysia's IPT since the 1990s as one of the initiatives for quality assurance. While the number of HEIs in Malaysia that are implementing ISO 9000 is increasing, however, empirical studies of the implementation of the system are still underdeveloped. Therefore, the objective of this article is to study the implementation steps of ISO 9000 quality management system at Malaysian HEI. This study uses a qualitative approach by using case study as a research strategy. A public HEI located in Selangor was chosen as a research location. The research finding show that the implementation of ISO 9000 in the HEI involves seven steps; organizational context analysis, training, leadership, development of work groups, implementation, monitoring and improvement. All these steps have been well implemented with participation from all faculty members. The results of this study contribute to the development of knowledge related to the implementation of ISO 9000: 2015 in Malaysian HEI.  The research findings can be employed as a guideline to university administrators, public sector officers or corporate managers in their effort to implement ISO 9000 effectively in their respective organizations.

India launched the Bhartiya Mahila Bank (BMB), its first public sector bank for economically empowering millions of women across the country, in 2013. This bank is meant for those women who do not have access to basic financial services such as bank accounts or loans. Access to a bank account is essential for women's economic empowerment as it provides a safe place to save money and opens up a channel to credit which can be used for investing in education, property or in a business. BMB is a good beginning in the direction of women empowerment in India. Nevertheless, pro-active emphasis should be on rural areas and less-educated / illiterate women folk irrespective of their earnings. It will create more job opportunities for women and will pay special attention to the weaker and more neglected sections of women.

Rural areas are facing vulnerabilities and changes caused by negative social, economic and ecological externalities resulting from industrial agriculture systems. Locally embedded farms and bottom-linked approaches such as social cooperatives that act in the field of social agriculture are small, but valuable models to counteract these trends. This article is based on a case study conducted within the transdisciplinary research and development project Unlocking the Potential of Social Agriculture (UPAS), 2017–2020—financed by the Free University of Bolzano. The main focus of the case study is to determine the impact of social agriculture initiatives on social and healthcare systems, the natural environment and the communities in which they act. Data collection includes a literature review, observations and interviews carried out on 35 case studies of social agriculture initiatives, mainly located in Italy. The field research points out that actors in the sector of social agriculture predominantly aim to integrate disadvantaged people socially and in terms of their labor, base their production on organic methods, and that social agriculture has the potential to foster eco-social transformation and development of rural areas by the combination of social and ecological concerns. Thus, we use the term “eco-social” agriculture to describe these approaches. Furthermore, five components of eco-social agriculture have been defined, which, together, offer an ideal set of acting principles, namely: (1) the empowerment and integration of disadvantaged people, (2) the promotion of environmentally friendly agricultural practices, (3) the protection of nature, resources and cultural landscape, (4) support to the local community, and (5) education for sustainable development.

This case study explores how a performance management system was developed to address recurring health and safety issues in an organization. Performance improvement technologists were recruited to address the problem and ensure that it stayed solved. This study employs the state sovereignty theory to request that this stipulation is under statutory regulations. Case study is chosen as the research strategy to deepen the study of this determination phenomenon more deeply and can provide advice to OJK and the Directorate General of Taxes.
