Quality assurance with its multiplying manifestations around the world has become an integral part of education. The institutions of education, throughout the world, are continuously striving to achieve and/or improve quality. Quality of education itself stems from the quality of teacher education institutions and programs. There is dire need to ensure, improve and assure the quality of teacher education. But this phenomenon is not as simple as it sounds to be because for many teacher education institutions the problem of quality arises from the very beginning while determining the clear conceptual meaning of ‘quality’. This paper examines different perceptions of quality, particularly as it applies to teacher education. Models of quality, in this context, are briefly reviewed and challenges of quality assurance for teacher education institutions in Pakistan are enumerated. The overall purpose is to deliberate upon the practices and the models of accreditation, so that improvement in the procedural implementation by National Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (NACTE) may be suggested. Major approaches to quality assurance are brought out. Systems and practices of accreditation and recognition and essential characteristics of each are highlighted. Some recent global initiatives and local experiences are discussed with the view to present a comprehensive picture of this vital phenomenon and its multiple dimensions.

With growing awareness that the quality of education is very closely related to the quality of teachers and teaching, teacher education has moved into a key strategic location in international debate and discussion. This proposition is as true and pertinent in the global south and east as it is in the northern and western worlds. In the world of information technology education can help and support the learning process. Especially now all the learning process activities can be done online. Progress in information technology must also be supported by quality human resources. In this case the teacher is very instrumental in the utilization of information technology in the world of education. Because the teacher is one of the education supervisors who will encourage the advancement of the quality of education in Indonesia. But in reality the quality of teachers in Indonesia is inadequate. There are still many teachers who cannot use information technology in learning especially for teachers who are senior or old. As teacher supervisors, they must improve the quality of their performance in using technology. To improve the ability of teachers to use technology, ongoing training is needed to use technology. The role of the head of the school as a supervisor is also needed, namely the principal is obliged to supervise, control, and approach the teacher in terms of the use of technology in the learning process.

This article examines the genesis of the New Jersey Provisional Teacher Program, also known as the New Jersey Alternate Route Program, in three stages. First, the motivation to consider alternative ways of recruiting and preparing teachers for New Jersey schools began with general concern about the quality of education in the state and soon moved to consideration of means of strengthening teachers and teacher education. Second, the interest in improving the preparation of teachers led directly to changes in the regulations governing college-based teacher education programs. Third, the principles that were first applied to the reform of college-based programs were then adopted to structure and regulate an alternative route to teaching and the Provisional Teacher Program.

Teachers’ attitude is an important factor that influences the quality of the implementation of inclusive education. The quality of inclusive education is part of the quality of education in general in a country. The quality of education of countries around the world is measured by the United Nations using the Human Development Index and placing countries in the very high, high, medium, and low categories. Systematic review was carried out to  get an idea of the attitudes of teachers towards inclusive education and the factors that influence it in countries based on the HDI category. By using three electronic search engines for academic data, namely EBSCOhost, ProQuest, and Taylor & Francis Online, 18 articles reporting teacher attitudes towards inclusive education in various countries were discussed. The results found that there were no differences in teacher attitudes towards inclusive education between countries with very high and high HDI categories with countries in the moderate HDI category. Knowledge of children with disabilities and teaching experiences of these children is known to influence the attitudes of teachers towards inclusive education in countries with all HDI categories. The support from community, the availability of professional assistance, and the length of the implementation of inclusive education are factors that influence the attitudes of teachers in very high and high HDI categories countries, while the negative perception of disability makes teachers held negative attitudes towards inclusive education. Recommendations for improving the review of this topic are discussed in this study

The development of education and science is a priority for Russian state policy. Global trends define the main goals of the Russian higher school modernization. However, these also identify the need to overcome a number of contradictions in Russia’s national higher-education system. Pedagogical, or teacher-training, education is of special importance in the development of the entire educational system in the country. Quality education at all steps – preschool, primary, secondary (general and professional) and higher – depends mainly on the quality of pedagogical education. The modern market of educational services recognizes high quality of education and competences of students as the only advantage point for an academic institution over its competitors. Quality is the only universal commodity in the world market that increases the value of all other goods and services. The authors refer to the category of quality management in relation to higher pedagogical education, and describe the key principles of the system of quality assurance applied at Southern Federal University.
