Objective: To evaluate the various factors involved during the safe cholecystectomy performed by laparoscopic method in cases of empyema of gall bladder operated at Pak Emirates Military Hospital Rawalpindi. Study Design: Cross-sectional analytical study. Place and Duration of Study: Pak Emirates Military Hospital, Rawalpindi, from Nov 2017 to Mar 2019. Methodology: This study was performed on 70 patients undergoing cholecystectomy by laparoscopic method for empyema gall bladder during the study period. Adverse effects after the procedure were assessed in detail at 48 hours, at time of discharge and two weeks after the procedure on all the participants. Demographic profile and other factors were compared in the groups with and without the complications by using the chi-square test and binary logistic regression. Results: Out of 70 patients included in the final analysis 24 (34.3%) were male and 46 (65.7%) were female. Mean age of patients who underwent laparoscopic surgery for empyema gall bladder in our study was 42.43 ± 3.161 years. Bile duct perforation and leakage 6 (8.5%) was the commonest complication among the patients included in our study followed by surgical site infection 5 (7.1%). With binary logistic regression we found that presence of co-morbids and high preoperative C reactive protein had a strong association with presence of complications among the patients undergoing cholecystectomy in our study while age, gender, transfusion during surgery were not linked with the complications during or after the study. Conclusion: Limited number of patients faced the complications during or after the surgery. Patients with co-morbid.............

Background: Given the widespread prevalence and serious nature of Internet addiction (IA), this study aimed to estimate the prevalence of IA and assess the relationships between IA and combinations of physical activity (PA) and screen-based sedentary behavior (SB) among adolescents in China. Methods: This cross-sectional study surveyed 31,954 adolescents in grades 7 to 12 in Beijing. IA, PA, screen-based SB, and other information were obtained from a self-administrated questionnaire. The chi-square test and mixed-effects logistic regression model were applied to estimate the relationship between IA and combinations of PA and screen-based SB. Results: 6.2% of the surveyed adolescents reported IA and the prevalence of low PA/high screen-based SB, high PA/high screen-based SB, low PA/low screen-based SB, and high PA/low screen-based SB were 53.7%, 19.5%, 18.8%, and 8.0%, respectively. Mixed-effects logistic regression analysis showed that adolescents with low PA/high screen-based SB were 1.99 (95% confidence interval, 1.62–2.44, P < .001) times more likely to prefer IA than those with high PA/low screen-based SB. Conclusions: The prevalence of IA among Chinese adolescents is still high. Intervention programs like maintaining sufficient PA and reducing screen-based SB might contribute to reducing their IA.

Background: During the Covid-19 outbreak, health workers, especially nurses, are vulnerable to potential psychological symptoms such as anxiety, which can prevent nurses from carrying out their role as caregivers in health services (Lai et al., 2020; Shanafelt et al., 2020). Objectives: The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors that can influence the anxiety of nurses in playing the role of caregiver during the Covid-19 pandemic. Methods: This is a cross-sectional study with a population of all nurses who met the inclusion criteria as much as 105 nurses. The research sample was selected through stratified random sampling and obtained 84 nurses. This research was conducted at RSI Jemursari Surabaya from June until September 2020. The research instruments used in this study were the demographic observation sheet, knowledge questionnaire, and the Hamilton Anxiety Rank Scale (HARS). Data analysis used Pearson chi-square test and multivariate logistic regression. Results: The results of the Pearson Chi-square test showed that of all the factors studied, only age (p = 0.004), availability of personal protective equipment (p = 0.002), and knowledge (p = 0.017) influenced nurses' anxiety. The results of the analysis using multivariate logistic regression test showed that the factor that most influenced nurses' anxiety was the availability of personal protective equipment (p = 0.001; OR = -3.062). Conclusion: Younger nurses, inadequate personal protective equipment, and less knowledgeable nurses were at high risk for more severe anxiety. Regular observation of the psychological condition of nurses and the fulfillment of the need for personal protective equipment is needed to prevent increased anxiety in nurses.   Keywords: Nurse, anxiety, Covid-19, caregiver.

Impact Workload that is too excessive will result in adverse effects, which will cause physical and mental fatigue and emotional reactions such as headaches, digestive disorders, and irritability. While the workload is too little where the work happens because reduced motion will lead to boredom. Boredom in the work done or too little work results in a lack of attention to work that can potentially endanger workers and conversely the many burdens in work make other jobs neglected and forget some things to do because of high workload (Ma-nuaba , in Prihatini, 2017) nurse workload is strongly correlated with the large number of patients who have filled out the form before the surgery, and the length of treatment in the recovery room and the rapid process of dropping patients into the operating room before the patient's recovery from the operating room is complete. The study aims to determine the relationship between workload and nurse compliance . Methods The study is cross sectional. Instrument of research is using the instrument, sample research is 30 nurses . The results of this study get more than 70% of the workload and compliance of nurses 67% in this case the results of the Chi-square test conducted in there can be a significant relationship between workload with nurse compliance with a significant value of p <0.05 i.e. = 0, 004 .

Retirees’ income security constitutes a key concern for nations aiming to secure their ageing populations. Kenya has a growing retirement sector with about 252,000 retired civil servants who are on pension and a significant number of private sector retirees who receive a gratuity at retirement. Though formally retired workers may receive a pension, studies consistently report low pensions uptake and inadequate incomes for those retired as well as an increasing national and societal burden. This paper explores the key determinants of income security among 978retired persons who were receiving dues on their retirement savings. Guided by the life cycle and third age theory, the study investigated whether retirees’ socio-economic attributes, pre-retirement financial status, retirees’ benefit package, retirees’ utilization of retirement savings and investments and pre-retirement preparation correlated with income security. A mixed-method study design was used combining survey and case study approaches. Cluster, purposive and random sampling methods were employed to select retirees under the four categories of retirement schemes in Kenya across 18 selected counties of Kenya. Hypotheses were tested using the Chi square test of significance and comparison of means (t-test) specifically to illustrate the relationship between socio-economic indicators, pre-retirement factors and income security at retirement. Logistic regression procedure was employed to isolate the significant factors that predict income security in retirement. The binary logistic regression analysis confirm that retirees with higher education had 26% higher chances of enjoying income security, those who earned higher pre-retirement salary had 25% higher chances of having a secure income at retirement, those knowledgeable about pensions had 35% higher chances of being income secure while those who had planned for their retirement had 14% higher chances of achieving income security. The study recommends crafting of a robust retirement planning package, financial and health plans for retirees’ income security and sustainable livelihoods.

TPA, also known as Transpalatal Arch is used as an adjunctive equipment during orthodontic therapy to regulate anchorage in the vertical, transverse and sagittal (antero-posterior) dimensions. TPA have many uses such as space maintenance, retention and molar anchorage after rapid maxillary expansion. TPAs have eminent versatility, appearing as a stand-alone appliance or as an accessory appliance to fixed appliances. Hence the aim of this study is to assess the number of patients who required TPA/LSA during an orthodontic therapy. Retrospective cross sectional study was carried out and the case records of patients requiring TPA/LSA was collected by reviewing patient records and analyzing the data of patients between  June 2019- April 2020. The collected data was subjected to Chi-square test for statistical analysis and correlation using the SPSS software. The findings of this study showed female predilection with a percentage of 53% and males with a percentage of 47%. It also revealed that the prevalence of patients requiring TPA during an orthodontic therapy was 32% and LSA was 26%. This study shows that 32.24% of the patients required TPA and 25.75% of the patients also required LSA during an orthodontic treatment and this was found to be statistically significant.
