Soil salinity severely affects crop yield all over the world. In a recent study we observed that Natrum mur 200cH, a homeopathic remedy, improved growth in germinating cowpea seeds. In the present study we have tested another remedy Sepia, which is complementary to Natrum mur, on cowpea seedlings under salt stress. Cowpea seedlings grown over moist filter paper in petridishes were divided into 4 groups: (1) control in sterile water, (2) in 50mM NaCl solution, (3) seeds pretreated with 90% ethanol diluted with water 1:100 and then transferred to 50mM NaCl solution, (4) seeds pretreated with Sepia 200cH diluted with water 1:100 and transferred to 50mM NaCl solution. In another experiment the groups were same, but the dilution of 90% ethanol and Sepia 200cH was 1:1000 instead of 1:100. The purpose was to further reduce the ethanol content in both the drug and its vehicle 90% ethanol, so that the alcohol effect is minimized or abolished. The data were analysed by ANOVA followed by t-test. Sepia 200cH at both 1:100 and 1:1000 dilutions significantly increased growth, sugar, chlorophyll, protein and water content in seedlings as compared to the untreated salt-stressed group. The effect with the1000th dilution of Sepia 200cH was more pronounced than with its 100th dilution. The vehicle 90% ethanol at 1:100 dilution produced some positive effect on the seedlings, but the 1000th dilution of the vehicle produced no such effect. It is, therefore, concluded that Sepia 200cH could ameliorate salt stress in cowpea seedlings and that the 1000th dilution is more effective than its 100th dilution. The alcohol effect is totally eliminated with the 1000th dilution of 90% ethanol. Thus the 1000th dilution could retain the drug effect and eliminate the vehicle effect.

The COVID 19 pandemic created economic havoc around the world. Along with healthcare challenges, the pandemic has also been changing consumer lifestyles. It affects business structures and service delivery too. This article draws on an investigation of the effect of consumption emotions of Turkish consumers on consumer values during the COVID 19 Pandemic. A convenience sampling method was adopted in the study and a questionnaire survey was administered to collect 390 consumer cases. The results show that the consumption emotions of Turkish consumers during the COVID 19 Pandemichad a significant positive effect on consumer values. It was found that Turkish consumers were to feel anxiety, calmness and hope more often than not during the pandemic.

Pornography is a debatable subject, both in Malaysia and around the world. Some feel it is harmless while others feel it is damaging. Pornography can bring about its own impact to the viewers. In Malaysia, the trend of viewing pornography among youngsters’ has been increasing. Studies have also shown Pornography can lead to unhealthy behaviors as a result of too much viewing. This study was conducted to discover the addiction level and the consumption effects on students at a Malaysian University. The researchers used purposive sampling to distribute questionnaires. The Scale used was the Internet Pornography Addiction Test and the Pornography Consumption Effects Scale consist of Positive and Negative dimension used to conduct the research. The research population (N=120) was students’ from University Tunku Abdul Rahman of Malaysia. There were significant relationship between the addiction and consumption. There were significant differences between the Positive and Negative Dimension as well. The Negative Effect Dimension is higher than the Positive Effect Dimension. There were significant differences between male and female students towards pornography addiction. However, there were not any significant differences among the genders in internet consumption. Male scored higher than female in the Internet Pornography Addiction. There were no significant differences between gender in the Positive and Negative Dimension.

AbstractIt has been argued that economic development and democracy create new opportunities and resources for women to access political power, which should increase gender equality in politics. However, empirical evidence from previous research that supports this argument is mixed. The contribution of this study is to expand the research on gender equality in politics through an in-depth examination of the effect of development and democracy on gender equality in cabinets. This has been completed through separate analyses that include most of the countries in the world across three levels of development (least-developed, developing, and developed) and across different types of political regimes (democracies, royal dictatorships, military dictatorships, and civilian dictatorships). The results demonstrate that economic development and democracy only affect gender equality in cabinets positively in a few environments. Accordingly, the context is important and there seem to be thresholds before development and democracy have any effect. Development has a positive effect in developed countries and in democracies, but it has a negative effect in dictatorships, and the negative effect is strongest in military dictatorships. The level of democracy has a positive effect mainly in dictatorships, and the strongest effect is in civilian dictatorships. The article demonstrates the importance of dividing samples into subsets to increase understanding of what affects women's representation in cabinets in different environments, and I ask scholars to subset samples and run separate analyses more often in comparative studies.

Abiotic stresses comprise all nonliving factors, such as soil salinity, drought, extreme temperatures, and metal toxicity, posing a serious threat to agriculture and affecting the plant production around the world. Peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.) is one of the most important crops for vegetable oil, proteins, minerals, and vitamins in the world. Therefore, it is of importance to understand the molecular mechanism of peanut against salt stress. Six transcriptome sequencing libraries including 24-hour salt treatments and control samples were constructed from the young leaves of peanut. A comprehensive analysis between two groups detected 3,425 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) including 2,013 upregulated genes and 1,412 downregulated genes. Of these DEGs, 141 transcription factors (TFs) mainly consisting of MYB, AP2/ERF, WRKY, bHLH, and HSF were identified in response to salinity stress. Further, GO categories of the DEGs highly related to regulation of cell growth, cell periphery, sustained external encapsulating structure, cell wall organization or biogenesis, antioxidant activity, and peroxidase activity were significantly enriched for upregulated DEGs. The function of downregulated DEGs was mainly enriched in regulation of metabolic processes, oxidoreductase activity, and catalytic activity. Fourteen DEGs with response to salt tolerance were validated by real-time PCR. Taken together, the identification of DEGs’ response to salt tolerance of cultivated peanut will provide a solid foundation for improving salt-tolerant peanut genetic manipulation in the future.

Childbirth has been a part of our lives since the beginning of time. Without the process none of us would be alive today. So why is it that maternal mortality remains one of the greatest inequities in the world? To date, approximately 500, 000 women die annually due to the lack of appropriate prenatal and obstetric care. Difficulties arising with childbirth cannot be predicted. However, the way in which we react to a situation can have a lasting, positive effect on the countries and the women who are at risk. The ways in which to help reduce the large number of maternal deaths in developing countries is not complicated and can be achieved if it is made a priority. In conclusion, there are multiple obstacles in regard to succeeding the highest achievable standard of health globally.  With the education of evolving scientific methods, and the collaboration of humanitarian views, the welfare and health of women and their children, can be internationally restored. The economic development in Indonesia from period to period until now is increasing because Indonesia is very rich with natural and human resources, only quality human resources need to improve their quality in order to be able to develop better economy in the future, however unemployment and poverty rate of Indonesia is still high compared to some other countries in the world, therefore it is necessary jointly between individual society, private and the government has maximum efforts to reduce unemployment and poverty in Indonesia, by increasing the growth of gross domestic product (GDP) contribution by business field can reduce poverty level in Indonesia. The result of multiple regression analysis shows that the contribution of GDP according to business field can decrease poverty level in Indonesia. This condition indicates that agriculture, forestry, fishery sector has a negative effect on poverty rate in Indonesia which means any decrease in agriculture, forestry, fishery by one unit affect the decrease of poverty level of 0.203 at constant -7,70, while the other three factors mining and quarrying, processing industry factor and trade factor have a positive effect on poverty level which means that every increase of one unit leads to a significant increase in poverty not yet able to reduce poverty level but has significant influence on all variables to poverty level in Indonesia. The results of multiple correlation coefficient analysis indicate that from each sector, agriculture, forestry, mining fishery, excavation, processing industry and trade are very strong together that is equal to 97,70%, besides coefficient value of determination equal to 0,96% whereas the remaining 4% of the poverty rate is influenced by other factors

An important literature on the recipient-countries’ export performance effect of Aid for Trade (AfT) flows has focused on the goods side. The few existing studies on the services exports effects of AfT interventions have reached mixed results, reflecting a positive or weak effect. This study aims to complement these few studies by examining the effect of AfT flows on recipient-countries’ share of services exports in the world services exports (‘services export integration’), including through two main channels: their share of merchandises exports in the world merchandises exports (‘merchandises export integration’) and the size of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) inflows. The empirical analysis, based on a sample of 105 countries over the period 2002–2016, has shown that these two channels definitely matter for the effect of AfT flows on countries’ services export integration. Specifically, by fostering countries’ merchandises export integration, AfT flows can promote their services export integration. Furthermore, promoting FDI inflows enhances the positive effect of AfT flows on countries’ services export integration.

This chapter is an extended revision of the authors' earlier study (2016) on the training routines of professional and high-level esport players, with added focus on their physical exercise. The study is methodologically mixed with a quantitative survey sample (n=115) and a qualitative interview sample (n=7). Based on this data, high-level esport players train approximately 5.28 hours every day around the year, and professional esport players at least the same amount. Approximately 1.08 hours of that training is physical exercise. More than half (55.6%) of the professional and high-level esport players believe that integrating physical exercise into their training programs has a positive effect on esport performance; however, no less than 47.0% do the physical exercise chiefly to maintain their overall state of health. Accordingly, the study indicates that professional and high-level esport players are physically active as well: those of age 18 and older exercising more than three times the daily 21-minute physical activity recommendation given by the World Health Organization.

The timely reaction of regulatory authorities, at the global level, and the willingness of the monetary and fiscal authorities of all countries to cooperate have shown a very positive effect on the stability of the banking system.

The landscape application of sweet osmanthus (Osmanthus fragrans) with flower fragrance and high ornamental value is severely limited by salinity stress. Gamma irradiation applied to seeds enhanced their tolerance to salinity stress as reported in other plants. In this study, O. fragrans ‘Huangchuang Jingui’ seeds were pretreated with different doses of gamma irradiation, and tolerance of the seedlings germinated from the irradiated seeds to salinity stress and the changes of reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and ROS scavenging systems induced by gamma irradiation were observed. The results showed that seed pretreatment with different doses of gamma irradiation enhanced the tolerance of sweet osmanthus seedlings to salinity stress, and the positive effect induced by gamma irradiation was more remarkable with the increase of radiation dose (50–150 Gy). The pretreatment with high-dose irradiation decreased O2− production under salinity stress and mitigated the oxidative damage marked by a lower malondialdehyde (MDA) level, which could be related to the significant increase of superoxide dismutase (SOD), peroxidase (POD) and catalase (CAT) activities in the seedlings germinated from the irradiated seeds compared to the corresponding control seedlings. In addition, the accumulation of proline in the irradiated seedlings may contribute to enhancing their tolerance to salt stress by the osmotic adjustment. The study demonstrated the importance of regulating plant ROS balance under salt stress and provided a potential approach to improve the tolerance of sweet osmanthus to salt stress.
