Abstract. Many adiabatic logic families make use of multi phase trapezoidal or sinusoidal power clocks to recover the energy stored in the load capacitances. A key aspect for the evaluation of the performance of adiabatic logic is then the study of a system that includes the power clock generator. A four-phase trapezoidal power clock generator, according to the requirements of the most promising architectures, namely the ECRL and PFAL, has been designed and simulated. The proposed circuit, realized with a double-well 0.25 µm CMOS technology and external inductors, is a resonant generator designed to oscillate at a frequency of 7 MHz, which is within the optimum frequency range for adiabatic circuits realized with this CMOS technology. The generator has been simulated with the equivalent load of fifty 1-bit adders and the operating behavior of a 4-bit adder has been evaluated. The key aspects of a generator for adiabatic logic are its power consumption and the phase relationships between its output signals. The proposed generator has a conversion efficiency higher than 80%, and it is robust with respect to variations of technology parameters. The four power supplies exhibit the correct relationship of phase also in the presence of no equally distributed loads.

Abstract. A Gb/s clock and data recovery (CDR) circuit using 1/4th-rate digital quadricorrelator frequency detector and skew-calibrated multi-phase voltage-controlled oscillator is presented. With 1/4th-rate clock architecture, the coil-free oscillator can have lower operation frequency providing sufficient low-jitter operation. Moreover, it is an inherent 1-to-4 DEMUX. The skew calibration scheme is applied to reduce phase offset in multi-phase clock generator. The CDR with frequency detector can have small loop bandwidth, wide pull-in range and can operate without the need for a local reference clock. This 1/4th-rate CDR is implemented in standard 0.18 μm CMOS technology. It has an active area of 0.7 mm2 and consumes 100 mW at 1.8 V supply. The CDR has low jitter operation in a wide frequency range from 1–2.25 Gb/s. Measurement of Bit-Error Rate is less than 10−12 for 2.25 Gb/s incoming data 27−1 PRBS, jitter peak-to-peak of 0.7 unit interval (UI) modulation at 10 MHz.

This paper presents the design and performance analysis of the dual-rail encoded and sense-amplifier structured 2N–2P, 2N–2N2P, IPGL and PFAL quasi-adiabatic circuits operated by two-phase sinusoidal power-clock sources. The energetics of these families are studied for varying power-clock voltages. The drivability characteristics are evaluated using capacitive loads. The performance validation is made through 8-bit and 16-bit adder circuits using an integrated power-clock generator. Optimal adiabatic gain values are achieved for 2N–2N2P and IPGL circuits across a wide frequency range. Energy recovery comparison between the four-phase ramp and two-phase sine power-clocks is made. The results demonstrate the efficiency of sinusoidal power clock at both the high and the low frequency ranges of operation. The circuits were designed using 180 nm CMOS technology.

First-principle calculation is carried out on Al2O3(012)/SiC(310) interface model. It can be concluded from the electronic density and population analysis that Al-C and O-Si located at grain boundary primarily contribute to the interface bonding strength and creep resistance property. The electronic charges in grain boundaries and grains are compared with each other. And the valence electrons are found to be redistributed. The relationship of all kinds of chemical bonds in grains and grain boundary of the interface model is analyzed. Also the toughening mechanism of Al2O3/SiC multi-phase ceramic tool materials is explained in nano-scale.

ABSTRACTThe noradrenergic locus coeruleus (LC) mediates key aspects of arousal, memory, and cognition in structured tasks, but its contribution to natural behavior remains unclear. Neuronal activity in LC is organized into sustained (‘tonic’) firing patterns reflecting global brain states and rapidly fluctuating (‘phasic’) bursts signaling discrete behaviorally significant events. LC’s broad participation in social behavior including maternal behavior is well-established, yet the temporal relationship of its activity to sensory events and behavioral decisions in this context is unknown. Here, we made electrical and optical recordings from LC in female mice during maternal interaction with pups. We find that pup retrieval stably elicits precisely timed and pervasive phasic activation of LC that can’t be attributed to sensory stimuli, motor activity, or reward. Correlation of LC activity with retrieval events shows that phasic events are most closely related to subsequent behavior. We conclude that LC likely drives goal-directed action selection during social behavior with globally-broadcast noradrenaline release.

Palavras-chave: violência neoliberal; Guerrero; comunidades indígenas---SECURITY AND JUSTICE UNDER HARASSMENT IN TIMES OF NEOLIBERAL VIOLENCE: responses of the Community Police of GuerreroThe community police is an institution of the Indigenous Peoples of Guerrero known for its ability to deal with crime and generate alternatives for social peace, using a system of justice and self security. In recent years, however, the EU system faces harassment from various people responsible for the increase of violence and insecurity within the country and especially in the state in Guerrero; this situation is impacting instituitions in the community, forcing their redefinition. In this paper I highlight key aspects of the conflict and the community's responses to deal with the tasks of justice and security in new contexts marked by neoliberal plunder and impunity of the state (as well as non state figures). In this process, the relationship of the community police with the state is updated revealing the weight of legal ambiguity and power plays, as well as counter-hegemonic use of the right to dispute justice.key words: neoliberal vilence; Guerrero; indigenous people.
