A new 50 cm telescope, the UniversCity telescope, was recently installed at Plateau de Calern, France, to survey stellar occultation by asteroids from collisional families. A stellar occultation occurs when an asteroid passes in front of a distant star blocking its light temporarily. Measuring the time of the occultations provides an accurate astrometric measurement of the asteroid, comparable with the angular size of the asteroid. Thanks to the astrometric catalog from the Gaia mission, astrometry accuracy from occultation reaches a few milliarcseconds.

The astrometry from the survey is used in turn to improve the orbit of the asteroid, while the duration of the occultation is used to constrain physical characteristics and search for binarity. The orbit improvement aims to detect and measure the drift rate in the orbital elements of asteroids due to the Yarkovsky effect, a non-gravitational force responsible for scattering the orbital elements of collisional family members. Combining the magnitude of the Yarkovsky drift rate from the occultation survey with the accumulated drift since the originating collision, the age determination of the collisional family can be obtained.

The occultation survey takes advantage of the stellar occultation technique and the Gaia astrometric catalog to systematically derive accurate astrometric measurements for collisional family members.

The telescope will be operated robotically, dedicating most of its time to the occultation survey, with a small percentage of time to other science cases. The large number of family members and candidates to stellar occultations demands the automation of the occultation prediction, the selection and prioritization of occultation events, telescope scheduling, data reduction, and data analysis.

The occultation predictions are updated regularly in the light of new astrometric measurements from traditional astrometry and from occultations measurements. The occultations predicted to be visible from the UniversCity site are prioritized based on their chances of detection and contribution to the family age determination. The data acquired each night is automatically reduced to obtain light curves from which detection candidates are analyzed.

We will present the status of the project and the development and performances of the automatic prediction and processing system.

The aim of this paper is to present the results of research conducted as part of the “Ambivalent nostalgia in the cultural heritage of gastarbeiters” project of the Ethnological-anthropological society of Serbia. The research was conducted in Kučevo and Wienna in 2014. The research focused on older guest workers or gastarbeiters who are mostly in the status of disabled pensioners, and seniors whose family members work abroad. An important criterion for determining the gasterbeiter population was entering into the sphere of work in an active capacity, specified by the assumed “temporality” in the country of work; the determination of “seniority” is based on the criteria of exiting the active sphere of work. In this way a new kind of old person, a new kind of pensioner was formed – the foreign currency pensioner whose operating strategies are partly in the focus of this paper. Aside from these strategies, the paper analyzes the strategies employed by the family members of gastarbeiters facing the old age of their relatives who reside in their country of origin either permanently or on a semi-permanent basis; as well as the strategies which the Gerontological Society of Serbia tried to develop in cooperation with the former Ministry of Diaspora RS with the aim of attracting aging gastarbeiters to domestic nursing homes, as well as stimulating the diaspora to invest in such institutions in Serbia. In short, the life experiences and attitudes of 14 pensioners interviewed in Kučevo and Vienna on issues of old age, possible – or ongoing life in a nursing home, the differences and/or similarities between them and other old folks they encountered abroad or at home, as well as experiences with working with the aging gastarbeiter population shared by six employees in a private as well as a public nursing home in Kučevo, will be the object of analysis in this paper.

Using the new reductions of the IUE light curves by Sonneborn et al. (1997) and an extensive set of HST images of SN 1987A we have repeated and improved Panagia et al. (1991) analysis to obtain a better determination of the distance to the supernova. In this way we have derived an absolute size of the ringRabs= (6.23 ± 0.08) x 1017cm and an angular sizeR″ = 808 ± 17 mas, which give a distance to the supernovad(SN1987A) = 51.4 ± 1.2 kpc and a distance modulusm–M(SN1987A) = 18.55 ± 0.05. Allowing for a displacement of SN 1987A position relative to the LMC center, the distance to the barycenter of the Large Magellanic Cloud is also estimated to bed(LMC) = 52.0±1.3 kpc, which corresponds to a distance modulus ofm–M(LMC) = 18.58±0.05.

This study aims to analyze the relevance of the health emergency status to the existing legal theory and condition as well as to identify the validity of the Circular Letter of the Rector of State Universities. To this end, this study applied the statute and conceptual approach. The study was conducted by inventorying primary and secondary legal materials to obtain a proper and critical review of the legal issues under study. The results showed that the determination of the health emergency status by the government was inappropriate due to the uncertainty of the regulations issued by the government to determine the current condition. Thus, the status of the COVID-19 pandemic is a legal emergency status. Further, the Rectors policy through the Circular Letter is valid judicially, sociologically, and philosophically. The determination of the legal emergency status can be done by issuing a Perppu without a state of emergency from the President. Finally, it is suggested to firstly get an approval from the Ministry of Education and Culture regarding the issuance of the Rectors Circular Letter. Besides, further study is needed as this study was conducted during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Wound examination is indispensable in forensic practice. The scientific field of wound age determination has advanced progressively during recent years. The purpose of this study was to determine the differences of fibronectin and TGF-β1 expression in both antemortem and postmortem wounds. This study was an experimental with completely randomized design. The skin wounds (vital and postmortem) were taken from fourty Wistar rats and divided into 10 groups of rats. Immunohistochemical staining was performed to determine the differences between antemortem and postmortem wounds. The result showed that in 30 minutes after antemortem wound infliction, all of samples showed weak reactivity for fibronectin and TGF-β1 (100%). In first hour after wound infliction, 3 samples (75%) showed weakly positive and 1 sample (25%) strongly positive for fibronectin and TGF-β1. In 2 hour after wound infliction, 1 sample (25%) showed weakly positive and 3 sample (75%) strongly positive for fibronectin and TGF-β1. In 3 and 4 hour after wound infliction, all of samples strongly positive for fibronectin and TGF-β1. In postmortem wound, all of samples showed negativity for fibronectin and TGF-β1. In conclusion, fibronectin and TGF-β1 may be useful in the determination of wound vitality. Keywords: wound, fibronectin, TGF-β1, vitality

In the Arab world, the recognized children of elite men and slave women could adopt the status of their father, ignoring the slave origin of the mother, owing to a system of patrilineal transmission. This regime co-existed with negative stereotypes toward slaves and blackness, despite the very fact that—as this study of notable families in Tetouan between 1859 and 1956 demonstrates—skin color was not the determinant factor to form part of this group. Rather, it was based on the social definition of filiation, leading to legal disputes between family members to delineate the boundaries of kinship.

Abstract In crustaceans, ecdysis was long believed to result in the loss and replacement of all calcified structures, precluding the use of conventional ageing methods. However, the discovery of bands in the gastric ossicles of several crustaceans with some correlation with age suggests that direct age estimation may be possible. We applied this method to a tropical spiny lobster, Panulirus argus, one of the most iconic and economically valuable species in the Caribbean. The presence of growth bands was investigated using wild lobsters of unknown age and was validated with captive reared lobsters of known age (1.5–10 years) from the Florida Keys, Florida (USA). Bands were consistently identified in ptero- and zygo-cardiac ossicles of the gastric mill and did not appear to be associated with moulting. Validation with known age animals confirms that bands form annually. Counts between independent readers were reproducible with coefficients of variation ranging from 11% to 26% depending on reader experience and the structure used. This study demonstrates, for the first time, that direct age determination of P. argus is possible.
