The international student achievement assessment program (PISA) is an international assessment of skills and knowledge from 15-year-old students, in addition, it provides information on a range of factors that contribute to successful studies, schools, and the education system. PISA is the result of joint efforts of the Organization for economic cooperation and development (OECD) member countries. As PISA is an international assessment, it measures skills that are universally recognized as key outcomes of the educational process. Instead of testing on facts, the assessment focuses on young people at the end of compulsory school education and their ability to use their knowledge and skills to meet real-world challenges

AbstractOne of the most urgent tasks facing society today is to make science more attractive to the younger generation and to foster the continuous improvement of the knowledge and skills. These objectives assume ever greater importance because, firstly, young people are opting less and less for scientific studies, secondly, we need to establish new starting points for them in order that they could better understand and improve our changing world. To achieve these aims, it is necessary to expand innovation in secondary education. In this paper, a few suggestions, which can help assess and prioritize the usefulness of astronomy-related material for improving the educational process, are presented.

Digital and media literacies refer to a specific set of skills and abilities. The range of these skills as they concern the educational process has been broadly discussed. In this paper, we analyzed the Polish educational system to determine the scope of the sorts of digital skills young people and students should achieve in order to be considered digitally and media literate. We compared sets of recommendations from the last ten years issued by different national governmental and nonprofit organizations for the Polish education system. We identified a set of skills that should be expected to be possessed by young people and students during their education. Additionally, we discussed results regarding the situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the shift from regular education to distance learning.

From an epistemological perspective, the public education system is a specially developed concept to determine qualitative transformations, superior in the pedagogical reality delimited in a macro-structural context. It reflects a virtual pedagogical reality, important through its superior, formative, open, inexhaustible methodologically and praxeological potential. The main goal of the education system is to educate the further workforce, in this macro-context it is part of the global social system and should be in accordance to the transformation of the society. Education units are the base cells where the education, training programs are design, using the existing infrastructure and human resources, placing the educational process in time and space. In this research, we aim to analyze the mission, organizational and management structures of the public education service in Romania. Unpredictable, education plays an important role in any society that focuses on knowledge. Through it, the personality of the most important resource, the man, is modeled. A growing body of research suggests that computer games can help players learn to integrate knowledge and skills with values in complex domains of real-world problem solving (P. C. Adams, 1998; Barab et al., 2001; Gee, 2003; Shaffer et al., 2005; Starr, 1994). In particular, research suggests that epistemic games—games where players think and act like real world professionals—can link knowledge, skills, and values into professional ways of thinking (Shaffer, 2006). Here, we look at how a ten hour version of the epistemic game Urban Science developed civic thinking in young people as they learned about urban ecology by role-playing as urban planners redesigning a city. Specifically, we ask whether and how overcoming authentic obstacles from the profession of urban planning in the virtual world of a role playing game can link civic values with the knowledge and skills young people need to solve complex social and ecological problems. Our results from coded pre- and post-interviews show that players learned to think of cities as complex systems, learned about skills that planners use to enact change in these systems, and perhaps most important, learned the value of serving the public in that process. Two aspects of the game, tool-as-obstacle and stakeholders-as-obstacle, contributed to the development of players’ civic thinking. Thus, our results suggest that games like Urban Science may help young people—and thus help all of us—identify and address the many civic, economic, and environmental challenges in an increasingly complex, and increasingly urban, world.

The importance of physical training for a student`s health is underlined in the article. In addition, dependence between a level of physical training development and person`s health is defined. Physical training is not only a certain level of physical activity. Psycho-educational conditions of student`s physical training level as a source of its health are highlighted in the article too. Reforming higher education in Ukraine requires finding new ways to solve the problem of personality formation, development of its physical, mental and spiritual strength. The priority task of the education system is to educate people in the spirit of responsible attitude to their own health and the health of others as the highest social value, the formation of a high level of health of student youth. One of the main tasks of the modern education system is to form a high level of physical culture in students. According to the latest scientific data, up to 90% of students have serious health problems, 50% or more are on the dispensary register, every fifth student (in the humanities - every third, and sometimes even second) is considered to be as preparatory and special medical group or just can`t be involved in physical activity; The level of more than 50% of young people studying in higher educational institutions of our country does not even meet the average level of the state standard of physical fitness, which guarantees stable health. This situation is due to the fact that for today's young people improving their health is not of paramount importance. At the same time, she does not have the necessary knowledge and life experience that would allow her to preserve her personality, to learn the optimal norms of life, based on the understanding of health as the greatest value. A significant part of the diseases of student youth has a so-called didactogenic nature, that is caused or provoked directly by the conditions of the educational process. In this situation, one of the main tasks of pedagogical education is to improve the physical culture of the student.
