The analysis of the individual writing style is a dynamically developing direction of modern linguistics. An integral part of individual style is the metaphorical system of the author. Metaphors are one of the most accurate markers of individual style, since they give a perspective on personality and mental worldview of the writer. The study of metaphor allows describing the nature of the imagery world of the author or his conceptual sphere. The subject of this research the evolution of the conceptual sphere of Robert Bridges, a prominent representative of English poetry of the late XIX – early XX centuries. The goal consists in elucidation of peculiarities of the author's conceptual sphere. The research methodology leans on the method of studying metaphor developed by N. V. Pavlovich. The article explores the questions of individual writing style, placing emphasis on the dynamics of imagery system of R. Bridges. The scientific novelty consists in revealing the mental worldview in each period of the author’s work, outlining the author's conceptual sphere, and describing the nature of transformations in the author's imagery system throughout his literary path. The study of the author’s individual style is an intensively developing area of modern linguistics. Currently, the author’s individual style is considered as a system characterized by both statics and dynamics. Metaphors are some of the most reliable markers of individual style, since they give an idea of the writer’s personality and mental worldview. This article analyses the individual style in the lyric poetry of Robert Bridges, an outstanding English poet of the late 19th – early 20th centuries. The obtained results made it possible to establish that the stable part of Bridges’ individual style is a set of concepts forming his conceptual sphere as well as the central opposition of his oeuvre: the microcosm–macrocosm opposition. The varying characteristics of Bridges’ individual style are the ranks of concepts, changes in which are associated with a shift in the focus of the author’s attention and transformation in his worldview. The quantitative changes in Bridges’ later lyric poems compared to the early ones include a growing share of negatively coloured vocabulary and number of substantive metaphors, as well as an increasing variety of metaphorization of certain concepts. The main trends in Bridges’ individual style transformation are the tendency towards compensation, manifesting itself in various aspects of metaphorization, and the tendency towards simplification and concretization. The analysis of the evolution of Bridges’ metaphorical system showed that at the initial stage of his writing, he is equally interested in both the inner world of a person and the outside world, while in his later lyric poems Bridges focuses on the outside world, in particular, society.

The individual style of Mykola Yevshan is characterized by the scale of artistic thinking, intellectualism, philosophical depth, a high degree of emotional-semantic capacity and dynamic character of imagery. This article aims to analyze how Mykola Yevshan conveyed his ideas through the means of language, specifically, a scientific terminology; to show (1) as a term, beyond its terminological field, it loses, in whole or in part, its features of definition; (2) as a term, it lost only the terminological field but retained its definition in the author’s text. Our study is relevant because the phenomenon of «determinization» has yet to be studied based on the works of literary criticism of MykolaYevshan. We employed the following interrelated methods: dynamic and descriptive in their varieties (linguistic observation, comparison, and generalization), typological and definitive. The findings of our research prove that Mykola Yevshan used the terms of different fields of knowledge. Articles in literary criticism create a terminological field for literary terms, and terms that have lost their terminological field, having retained their definition, have undergone functional determinization. Stylistically motivated is the combination of scientific terms with spoken vocabulary, which gives the context both negative and positive semantic connotations; the author’s text reflects the occurrence of terms in the composition of the tropes. The process of determination defines the constant linguistic development, the interpenetration of terminological and non-terminological vocabulary. Keywords: terminology, determinology, literary criticism, Mykola Yevshan.

The article deals with the comparative model of the world in A. Surov’s individual style, which demonstrates the dynamics of the author's thinking, his view of reality and his inner world. The poet’s typical comparative models have been revealed: with syntactic and morphological comparisons. The author’s typical syntactic indicators are conjunctions «kak» (as) and «slovno» (as if/as though); the morphological indicators are the comparative degree of adjectives and the instrumental (ablative) case. The semantic mechanisms of these units formation have been described. Constructions with the conjunction «kak» (as) contain comparisons of the relatively constant and non-constant qualities of adjectives in the full and short forms respectively, as well as of the actions, the completed and the incomplete processes, which are presented by the verb forms. Constructions with the conjunction «slovno» (as if/as though) demonstrate the comparison of real entities and processes with potentially real situations, reflecting the concept of the outside world, explaining the similarity that is perceived only by the author. Comparative units with the instrumental (ablative) case express comparisons and similarities in various actions. These two types of comparative constructions can also be repeated, stratified, and combined in one sentence in A. Surov's works. In constructions with an adjective in the comparative degree, the overall characteristic of the compared entities is irrelevant, since the comparison is made on the basis of focusing on the degree of the certain features manifestation. This is confirmed by the author's semantic explications. Components of all types of comparative constructions represent four donor and recipient conceptual spheres: «Man», «Abstraction», «Nature», and «Objects». The conceptual sphere «Man» has been proved to be the dominant recipient and donor conceptual sphere, which testifies A. Surov’s anthropocentric creativity. The conceptual sphere «Nature» is also widespread among the donor conceptual spheres. To sum up, comparativeness is a semantic category presenting the opposition of meanings which are expressed by linguistic means and perform a comparative function regardless of the environment. This category is widely represented in the semantic structure and figurative function of constructions within the poet’s works. The comparative model of the world is a reflection of A. Surov's individual style formation and ways of the individual author's worldview perception. The proposed research is prospective for understanding the semantic category of comparability and its explication as a comparative model of the world in a particular author’s individual style.

In the discipline of Islamic law research, strong proofing and clear Istinbat method are key pillars in the construction of Islamic law based on the application of the science of usul al-fiqh and maqasid al-shari'ah. However, what happens at the state of Johor’s fatwa institution is the opposite. The fatwa research methods applied by the Fatwa Committee of Johor in resolving current fatwa issues is not based on the right and true discipline of Islamic law research. In fact, current inputs related to fatwa issues are not explicitly stated in the method of determining the law either in the form of reality or scientifically verified. Therefore, this paper will discuss the fatwa procedures undertaken by the Fatwa Committee of Johor based on the methods applied in resolving current issues. The research methodology adopted is library and interview methods. This study shows that fatwa management and production in the state of Johor is placed under the jurisdiction of the Mufti of Johor’s Department. The methods adopted by the Fatwa Committee of Johor covers two methods, namely: internal research methods including literature review through the application of original source and proofs based on syarak. Second: field research method that includes an external review or going to the location of study such as conducting observation, questionnaires and interviews including referrals to specialists of different fields. Maslahah and mafsdah consideration are also implemented by the Fatwa Committee in every fatwa decision based on the standard that meets the interests of maqasid al-shari'ah.

Punctuation plays a pivotal role in enhancing the comprehensibility of a text. It not only abolishes ambiguity from the text but also adorns the individual style of the author. This paper analyses Bacon’s essay “Envy” evaluating the aberrant use of punctuation to understand its impact on the holistic comprehension of the essay. Bacon has deviated in some punctuation marks in different situations. Most deviations occur in the use of the comma and the semicolon. The least deviations occur in the use of the period. Two explanations may be inferred from the analysis: First, what seems to be deviant in this regard was normal in his time; second, he deviates on purpose to make the long, complex sentence clear and easy for the reader.
