Two studies aimed to document the process of preparing for and teaching collaborative education courses and to determine students’ perception of collaboration and inclusion as a result of taking the course. Two sessions of collaborative teaching run by different professor dyads were studied over two 10-week quarters at a large public university. Multiple sources of data were collected. Ultimately, modelling collaboration and a positive attitude toward disability, collaboration, and inclusion provided professors an opportunity to help guide and shape pre-service teachers’ attitudes.

Abstract A great amount of the findings in ELF research has not yet reached the regular practitioner in different parts of the world. Despite the fact that ELF research has been solidly advancing, very little has been found out about teachers’ questioning their role in the context of ELF, the global position of English, their role in possibly reproducing or resisting discourses of dominance, inequalities, hegemony, among others. This paper investigates teachers’ attitudes towards ELF, and what influences them, with pre- and in-service teachers in Brazil, the former from a public university and the latter from a prestigious language institute located in Salvador, the capital city of Bahia, Brazil. The findings have shown that regardless of the differences in experience and background knowledge, both groups have demonstrated a very positive attitude towards ELF, although many questions and doubts were brought up when it came to conceiving the teaching of ELF-oriented classes on a regular basis. At a broader level, both groups highlighted the link between an ELF-oriented pedagogy and emancipation and open-mindedness, a way of liberating the teachers from the straightjacket of traditional ELT.

The focus that will be given in this article, is the relevance of collaborative teaching in the academic environment, with emphasis on higher education in engineering, considering the professional relationship between educating agents and students. To assist in the higher education process, the main challenges encountered will also be addressed, as well as to point out possible increasingly necessary solutions. Raising such important educational issues is necessary since the reference of an institution of higher education is based, among other aspects, on the qualifications of the teacher and his professional training, as well as on his ability to deal with everyday problems. Thus, seeking to achieve the proposed objectives, a bibliographic review was carried out on the theme presented and its consequences in relation to higher education, focusing on engineering courses. In addition to defining concepts related to collaborative teaching, this study links the relationships between higher education professionals, to the institution's growth and improvement. Finally, it was possible to verify that some of the problems listed in the present study are related to the way in which education professionals deal with everyday matters.

This study aims to investigate digital literacy perceptions of preservice teachers, and to identify quantity characteristics of first and second year preservice teachers’ digital literacy at a public university in Turkey. That is, pre-service teachers’ perceptions of digital literacy and their patterns of knowledge and use of digital literacy were measured within the scope of this study. Multiple sources of data, including a Likert scale and open-ended questions were collected to address the topic. Various statistical techniques and tests such as ANOVA, t-test, and Tukey HSD test were used in the analysis of the obtained data. Qualitative data was analyzed by using the content analysis method. The findings indicated that the model showed a good fit with the data and standardized regression weights indicated that attitude, technical, cognitive, and social factors were significant predictors of digital literacy. In addition, it was identified that the pre-service teachers had high and positive perceptions of digital literacy. However, it was observed in the open-ended questions that they lack the refined cognitive skills to find, evaluate, create, and communicate. The findings were then discussed in light of the relevant literature.

Clinical practise in the ageing population is changing from organ-specific specialty care to holistic care. This is done through comprehensive geriatric assessment and multi-disciplinary team management. Hence, we adopted an approach consisting of multi-professional teachers teaching a Healthcare of Elderly Course (HEC), in a public university in Malaysia. We aimed to analyze the students' attitude, self-perceived competency and interest in geriatric medicine as a career before and after the course. We also investigated variables that might influence this interest among these students. All 96 students in the course were invited to participate in the survey. Sixty-eight (70.8%) completed both pre and post-course questionnaires. Although most students (93%) have a positive attitude (University of California at Los Angeles Geriatric Attitude Scale >3) toward older adults at baseline, it did not significantly increase post-course. We found that the mean scores for self-perceived competency increased from 3.62 (±0.76) to 3.81 (±0.56) post-course (p < 0.01). However, the students remained neutral with no significant change in the mean interest in pursuing a geriatric medicine career after the course. Students with higher self-perceived competency post-course were found to be more interested in geriatric medicine (β = 0.56, p < 0.001). In conclusion, the HEC in our centre could sustain a positive attitude and increase self-perceived competency in students. It is important to increase the preparedness of our graduates in managing older adults with frailty and multimorbidity. Future studies may involve inter-professional education of students from multiple disciplines undergoing the same course to nurture real-life collaborations in managing the ageing population.

The purpose of this study is to analyse the attitudes of prospective science, elementary school and social sciences teachers who will provide environmental education in elementary and secondary schools in the future towards solid wastes and recycling in terms of various variables. The sample of the study consists of 149 pre-service teachers who are receiving education at the education faculty of a university located in Middle Anatolia Region in Turkey. "Scale of Pre-service Teachers' Attitudes towards Solid Wastes and Recycling", which was developed by Karatekin (2013) and which consists of three dimensions and 33 items was used in this study which was conducted by screening model. As a result of the study, it was revealed that pre-service teachers generally have a positive attitude towards solid wastes and recycling. Besides, there is a difference among the pre-service teachers' attitudes in all three dimensions of the scale with regard to gender and department. Also, the scores of pre-service teachers for the initiative and participation and interest and sensitivity dimensions of the scale vary depending on their behaviours of separating the wastes and throwing them into the related recycle bin and preferring products that are suitable for recycling. It was found out that there is no difference among the participants' scores of attitudes towards solid wastes and recycling in terms of settlement, level of income, educational level of the parents and membership to environmental associations.

The aim of this study is to develop a measurement tool to measure the attitudes of pre-service teachers in science fields towards nanotechnology. For this purpose, a five-point Likert-type scale consisting of 55 items was applied to 373 pre-service teachers who are enrolled in science fields (Science, Chemistry, Biology, Physics) at the grades 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th at a public university in Turkey. As a result of the exploratory factor analysis (EFA), it was determined that the scale had a 3-factor structure consisting of 24 items and the factors explained 55.854% of the total variance of the attitude variable. Verification of the model was tested by applying confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). The data used for CFA were obtained from 770 pre-service teachers who are enrolled in science fields at the grades 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th at two different public universities in Turkey. The results obtained from CFA were in agreement with model obtained by EFA. Cronbach's alpha (Cr-α) reliability of the scale was calculated to be 0.926. Findings from the validity and reliability analyzes show that the scale is a valid and reliable measurement tool that can be used to measure pre-service science fields teachers’ attitudes toward nanotechnology.

This mixed methods study examined non-Indigenous teacher candidates’ disposition towards a mandatory Aboriginal Education course in teacher education from teacher candidates’ and course instructors’ perspectives. Results from a pre- and post Likert Scale survey of two sections of an Aboriginal Education course at a small Canadian University indicated that teacher candidates felt more knowledgeable by the end of the course, and maintained a fairly strong interest in, and positive attitude towards, the course. Results from course instructors provided additional and, at times, contradictory information, describing the course as limited and, at best, an introduction to the issues and perspectives within Indigenous education. The results suggest the need for mandatory Indigenous Education courses and for faculties of education and school boards to provide further learning opportunities with Indigenous education content and resources.
