The study aimed to identify the current method used for selecting academic leaders at emerging Saudi universities from the viewpoint of faculty members working there, and whether there is a correlation between the method used and the following variables: job satisfaction, organizational justice, organizational commitment, productivity motivation, and institutional loyalty and affiliation. In order to achieve the goals of the study, the researcher designed a questionnaire that included identifying the method used. The questionnaire consisted of (31) items divided according to the variables mentioned, and it was distributed to the study sample (300 faculty members), randomly chosen from the study community (2382 members). The results showed that there is a correlation between the method used and the variables mentioned which were at an intermediate level, with the exception of the productivity motivation that was at a high level for university professors, despite the fact that the foregoing variables were lower than expected. This made the researcher recommend that the university and the Ministry of Education would review that mechanism and hold conferences and workshops in order to address it before these positive professors suffer from disappointment and job burnout. The study also revealed that there were statistically significant differences at the level of (α = 0.05) in experience in favor of (10) years or more, in the academic rank in favor of (Assistant Professor), and in officiality and contracting in favor of the contracting parties.

Our behavior is influenced by how much we believe we can do things. If a teacher believes s/he can manage the classroom well, then there is a probability that s/he will be able to do it. The study determined the level of self-efficacy in classroom management of faculty members of the University of Eastern Philippines. It determined the relationship of the level of self-efficacy to faculty profile such as age, sex, educational attainment, and academic rank. Using the 8-item classroom management efficacy part of the Teacher Efficacy Scale, the study covered 136 faculty members of the University of Eastern Philippines who were sampled from all colleges. A descriptive correlational design was used and employed statistical tools such as frequency counts, means, ranking, percentages, and multiple regression analysis. Data revealed that the majority of the faculty members are female, have an age range of 41-60, with Instructor rank and have at least Doctoral units. The faculty members have a Very High level of self-efficacy on classroom management. No significant relationship was found between the level of efficacy and the sex, age, academic rank, and educational attainment. The study recommended the conduct of further studies correlating the level of efficacy with other teacher-related variables.

The aim of the research is to identify the impact of psychological combustion on the job performance of university and higher institutes teachers through a study of analytical by the same academic leaders at the University of Tikrit, The research was based on the analytical descriptive method and the use of the psychometric scale and the performance scale. The research found a number of results, namely that the most academic leadership positions whose performance is affected by the levels of psychological combustion is the head of the department, and that the academic leadership in the practical colleges is the most affected by the performance of the levels of psychological combustion. Also, the female academic leaders are affected by their performance at higher levels of combustion Psychological leadership, and that academic leaders have the degree of assistant professor is affected by its performance more levels of psychological combustion, and that the academic leaders married is affected by their performance more levels of psychological combustion, and that academic leaders The age group of 30 to 40 years is the most affected by the performance of the levels of psychological combustion, and academic leaders with years of experience less than 20 years are affected by their performance more levels of psychological combustion. The research recommended that work should be done to improve the professional and social conditions of academic leaders and faculty members in colleges and higher institutes, and to prepare preventive and guidance programs that help reduce the feeling of work pressure and health monitoring of academic leaders and faculty members to ensure their health and psychological health. The faculty and raise their morale with rewards and incentives, both material and moral, training and qualification of academic leaders and faculty members to increase their ability to think creatively and how to manage time and exploitation Its best possible exploitation.

This study aimed to examine the reality of social responsibility practice among the academic leaders at the Hashemite University in light of some demographic variables (academic major, academic rank, post).To achieve the objective of the study, the researcher used a scale that was verified for its validity and reliability. The scale of social responsibility consisted of (23) items, divided into three dimensions: social responsibility towards the students, social responsibility towards the university, and social responsibility towards the community. The sample of the study consisted of (150) academic leaders at the Hashemite University in Jordan in the first semester of the academic year 2019/2020. The problem of the Study concern in several problems encountered by the faculty members at the Jordanian universities in terms of the practices of social responsibility. Also, this study was conducted in order to explore the level of social responsibility practiced through the academicians and faculty members at the Hashemite University. Methodology: This study is quantitative, in which data were collected through a questionnaire, which was designed and developed for the purposes of the present study. The results of the study showed that academic leaders at the Hashemite University exercise social responsibility of the three dimensions to a moderate degree from their perspective. In light of the study results, the researcher recommends a number of recommendations: conducting additional studies to explore the factors affecting the level of social responsibility, providing legislations and laws which may contribute to the development of the academic environment of the university that enhances the practices of social responsibility, provision of support for the faculty members at the Jordanian universities and solving the relevant problems they encounter.

This study aims to examine the sources of organizational power prevailing among the academic leaders at the University of Tabuk from the faculty members’ viewpoint. The purposes behind such an aim are: to reveal the level of administrative and technical institutional creativity, the nature of the relationship between the reality of organizational power and the level of institutional creativity, and to disclose statistically the significant differences between the averages of faculty members’ responses attributed to the demographic variables (gender,  years of experience, academic degree). The study used the descriptive approach, both survey and correlational. A questionnaire was used to collect data from a simple random sample of (354) faculty members.Results have revealed that the sample agreement came at a high degree on both the reality of organizational power in its dimensions as well as on the level of institutional creativity of academic leaders. A very strong statistically significant direct correlation has been found between the reality of the morganizational power and the level of institutional creativity. Moreover, the statistically gender-based significant differences detected among the mermbers’ response averages about the sources of compulsion power and experience power were in favour of males and females, respectively. Speaking of the academic degree variable in the source of experience power, it was in favor of assistant professor category.

This study aimed to identify the degree of academic leaders’ practice of excellence management in public and private Jordanian universities (Yarmouk University, University of Science and Technology, Al Al-Bayt University, Irbid National University, Jadara University, and Jerash University) from the faculty members’ viewpoint. The descriptive survey method was adopted and to achieve the objectives of the study, a questionnaire was built to measure the degree of practicing excellence management consisting of (32) items distributed into (4) areas: leadership (10) items, policies, and strategies (5) items, human resources (5) items, and partnerships and resources (12) items. The study population consisted of all the (2077) faculty members in the Jordanian public and private universities in the first semester of the academic year 2020/2021. Where the study sample consisted of (405) academics who constitute (19%) of the study population. and were selected by a random stratified method. The results showed that the overall degree of academic leaders' practicing of excellence management in the public and private Jordanian universities was moderate, and the order of the areas on the scale was respectively as follows; Partnerships and Resources, leadership, Policies and strategies, and human resources, and that all of these areas came at a moderate degree. The results also showed that there were statistically significant differences at the level of statistical significance (α = 0.05) between the estimates of respondents in all areas (leadership, policies and strategies, human resources, partnerships, and resources) attributable to the difference in; the gender variable in favor of males, academic rank in favor of the professor, and the type of university in favor of public universities. Regarding these results, the researcher recommends giving more attention to the Department of Excellence, especially in the field of leadership, as well as the inclusion of Excellence Management as a basic criterion of performance quality standards in Jordanian public and private universities.

Abstract This paper exploits a natural experiment to study the effects of providing stronger research incentives to faculty members on the universities’ average teaching and research performances. The results indicate that professors are induced to reallocate effort from teaching towards research. Moreover, tighter research requirements affect the faculty composition, as they lead lower research ability professors to leave. Given the estimated positive correlation between teaching and research ability, those who leave are also characterized by lower teaching ability. The average effect on teaching for the university is therefore ambiguous, as positive composition effects countervail effort substitution.

The purpose of the work is to evaluate the potential of a high school teacher; the subject of study is employment potential and competitiveness of the university faculty member; research methods include analysis of statistical data and online-survey. The article presents the results of the research potential of the university teaching staff in the conditions of ongoing reforms in higher education and in connection with changing requirements to higher education institutions forfaculty members. It was determined that faculty members demonstrate high loyalty and commitment, but average engagement. It was revealed that the institution creates proper conditions for development and self-realization, creativity and communication. It was confirmed that university professors have a high scientific and innovative potential and willingness to conduct research. The conclusion is that the employment potential of university staff is not used to the full. It was determined that the majority of the teaching staff appreciates personal competitiveness. And only one out of five is aware of the need to develop their personal competitiveness in line with the new requirements. The results of the study may be useful for university governance within the management of human resources quality.

This paper explores faculty members’ concerns and level of preparedness for open and distance learning (ODL) at the University of Malawi’s School of Education during the recent Covid-19 pandemic within a context that considers ODL as a means of mitigating the impact of the pandemic on teaching and learning. Data were gathered through semi-structured interviews with four experienced academic leaders within the school of education. The Concerns Based Adoption Model (CBAM), particularly stages of concerns, served as a framework to understand the faculty’s concerns about the implementation of ODL initiatives. Inductive and deductive analysis approaches were used to analyse the interview transcripts to identify emerging themes. Deductive analysis revealed that faculty members expressed several concerns such as awareness, informational, as well as consequences concerns as they talked about their feelings and attitudes towards the implementation of ODL. Inductive analysis on the other hand revealed that faculty members’ perceptions such as minimal preparation, negative orientations, and lack of policy awareness hamper the implementation of ODL. These findings underscore the importance of members’ orientation change to ensure effective implementation of ODL in contexts like the institution under study. We discuss these and propose that professional development could help members develop positive attitudes towards ODL.

Currently, teaching takes place in highly diverse social, educational and cultural environments. Understanding and accepting this fact has allowed that pre-service and in-service teaching training be taught as education for diversity. It is in this sense that the Universidad Pedagógica Nacional Francisco Morazán (UPNFM, Pedagogical University Francisco Morazán) has, in a recent curricular reform, included a generic and transverse competency to contribute to the training of the University faculty, so that they can appreciate and understand diversity as an enriching asset of the educational process. The main objective of this research is to identify the level of development of this competency to propose a strategy to visualize inclusive education as transverse knowledge. This project was developed from the perspective of research for improvement and decision making, using a mixed methodology and collecting data through the analysis of documents, in-depth interviews, and a questionnaire. The participants in the study were 225 students, who were in their professional internship II, and eight professors from the General Ed courses.The results showed that UPNFM, in its curricular offer, has achieved great improvements as for the training of their faculty members regarding attention to diversity by incorporating in its curriculum a competency linked to an inclusive education. However, both members of the faculty and students pointed out that they did not have the skills to apply teaching strategies suitable to deal with diversity. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the process of curricular implementation through ongoing training of university professors.

Since the late 1960s, the Brazilian federal government has directed substantial resources toward the newly created graduate level at the most prestigious Brazilian universities. Direct support for high-level graduate programs provided by CAPES and other Brazilian agencies, bypassing the university bureaucracy, has allowed programs to recruit Ph.D. holders educated abroad as faculty members. Contrary to the experience at the undergraduate level, the government and the academic community have made a decisive effort to assure quality at the graduate level. The Fundação Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES)—the Ministry of Education agency in charge of graduate education—has created a sophisticated peer review evaluation system that successfully connects performance with support at this level. This evaluation, relying on the contribution of acknowledged academic leaders in all areas of knowledge in the country, has enhanced academic legitimacy; program evaluations in each area currently tend to be widely accepted by the academic community. Such programs have become the main or sole sites for the institutionalization of research in the Brazilian higher education system.
