This chapter deals with Indian ‘innovations for the millions’ (I4M)—new products, processes, and institutional arrangements—that sustainably improve the quality of life of those at the base of the pyramid. Taking ten examples which originated from the private, public, NGO and cooperative sectors, the chapter suggests that these innovations are a response of the ‘elite of calling’ to the Indian paradox – high growth in a large economy, co-existing with a very large number at the base of the pyramid. The chapter argues that a more supportive ecosystem needs to be built to foster I4M, including reforms in regulation and taxation, and attracting bright young people. If that happens Indian I4M can serve billions at the base of the pyramid around the world.

One of the important aspects in the implementation of new products for production in the open field is the assessment of the impact of environmental conditions on their operation. Typically thermo-climatic research is carried out for such project. The laboratory of Techno-climatic Research and Heavy Duty Machines of Cracow University of Technology, equipped with a large-sized thermo-climatic chamber conducts this type of research. Bearing in mind the assurance of high quality of the conducted research, the quality management system (QMS) was developed and implemented. The article describes the requirements, scope and process of obtaining a Polish Centre for Accreditation (PCA) certificate.

Industries seek changes in manufacturing processes by designing or redesigning them, to improve the quality of products, reduce costs and cycle times, change materials, modify methods, design innovative products, among others. Facing these demands requires a powerful methodological framework known as Design of Experiments. Most of literature focuses on the application of these techniques in the areas of statistics and quality. However, the variety of problems facing engineers in industry is wide and includes different levels of complexity, ranging from the design of new products, improvement of design, maintenance, control and improvement of manufacturing processes, maintenance and repair of products, among others. This chapter provides the reader different applications of this methodology in industry, to highlight the importance and benefits of knowing and applying these techniques. It will present the application of this methodology in a general way and finally, it will discuss different case studies that use this methodology in industry.

The nanometric scale researches results can be found, in present, in every industry domains, due to the effects of the new products, obtained on the basis of this researches. In the concrete industry, the research goal at this level is to obtain, finally, a material with new features, whose structural behavior to be considerably better than of the current one. Basically, it aims to achieve, using nanotechnologies, a new structural material for constructions, starting from the current concrete advantages (good compressive strength, durability, etc.), eliminating the disadvantages (low tensile resistance, cracks, etc.), and controlling, in the same time, the costs. Thus, in this paper are presented the required parameters in order to obtain this kind of material, by highlighting the nanocomponents characteristics and the quantities that are used to achieve the expected quality requirements. The real time influence of these nanocomponents on the quality of the studied material can be observed using a dedicated software, specially developed for this purpose.

This article summarizes the scientific approaches to improving the quality of relations between the enterprise and business partners in preparation for the release and production of new products in today's economic realities. The study's main purpose is to substantiate and develop a methodological approach for determining effective relationship models between enterprises and business partners to prepare and produce new products. The article presents a developed four-stage methodological approach. The first stage of the study presents an analysis of existing approaches to forming relationships between the enterprise and business-business partners to prepare and produce new products. In the second stage, factual data on machine-building industry enterprises' functioning were collected to determine the effectiveness of cooperation and success, which are the key components that improve the quality of relations between the enterprise and business partners in preparing new products. At the third stage, partners' priority was determined to characterize the quality of the relationship between machine-building enterprises and business-business partners. The fourth stage determined the relationship between the qualitative levels of business partners' priority and appropriate relationship models to prepare and produce new products. The study used expert methods, multidimensional factor analysis, additive convolution method, structural-logical method, graphical method. A survey of enterprise representatives was conducted to assess the effectiveness of cooperation on 12 surveyed machine-building enterprises. Partial indicators were identified and substantiated by multidimensional factor analysis, generalized for making decisions about business partner enterprises' existing opportunities to prepare and produce new products. Based on the calculation of the integrated indicator, partners' priority was determined. That characterized the quality of relations between machine-building enterprises and business-business partners in preparing and producing new products. According to the Harrington scale specified for the economic conditions of Ukraine, the qualitative levels of partner companies' priority were determined. The proposed effective models of relationships for preparing and producing new products are put in line with them. The study results could improve the quality and validity of the formation and maintenance of relationships between enterprises and business partners in preparing and producing new products.

Legitimate postharvest treatment of food produces is a higher priority than the serious and broad cultivating in making sure about nourishment for a country, since misfortunes are a misuse of food as well as they speak to a comparable misuse of human exertion, ranch inputs, jobs, speculations and scant recourses, for example, water. Postharvest misfortunes of agricultural yields when all is said in done and new products of the soil (perishables) specifically are normal issues in creating nations, similar to Ethiopia, which negatively affects the food security program. This is mostly a direct result of their transitory nature, absence of information and deficiency of capital. The other explanation is that a large portion of these perishables are delivered by little scope ranchers the individuals who have restricted information and monetarily poor in the creating nations. Along these lines, assessment of postharvest misfortunes of new foods grown from the ground is exceptionally significant for mindfulness creation to deal with the produce appropriately in order to spare from waste and harms by physical and physiological methods. The destinations of this audit are, hence, to evaluate the accessible writings on the postharvest misfortunes of new foods grown from the ground trying to distinguish need zones of the issue; to distinguish the reasons for misfortunes of perishables so as to dodge the foundations for the decrease of misfortunes; and to distinguish the potential methodologies that can decrease misfortunes and keep up nature of the items during the period.

Product quality and service affect the progress of a restaurant. The rise of business competition requires businesses to continue to innovate so as not to compete. Restaurant business owners must always maintain and improve the quality of their products and services. The quality of products and services is a means to compete with competitors. Quality products and services will help restaurant business owners to get a strategic market position. This study aims to find out how the quality of Toby’s Fried Chicken products and services in Sumenep Regency. The sampling technique in this study used Purposive Sampling by determining key informants as many as 1 person, 2 main informants, supporting informants as many as 5 people and using data collection techniques, including observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of this study indicate that Toby’s Fried Chicken products in the latest Fried Chicken products are still undercooked, Toby’s Fried Chicken has not released a variety of new products with a steady innovation. The service of Toby’s Fried Chicken is quite good with the good attitude shown by the waiter, but for the arrangement of the place there is no attractive design to be enjoyed by customers. Toby’s Fried Chicken continues to maintain and improve its quality, both in terms of products and services to be able to compete with fast-food restaurants like Toby's.

The agricultural processing industry is continually working to meet consumer demand for new products, diversifying the supply of non-perishable items ready for consumption, conveniently prepared to maintain the main characteristics of the raw material. The objective of this work was to dehydrate whole okra by lyophilization and convective drying at 50, 60, 70 and 80 °C and to evaluate the influence of drying processes on the chemical and physical quality of powdered products. The powders had acceptable contents of lipids, sugars, proteins, pectin, chlorophyll and carotenoids, high hygroscopicity and low solubility. Lyophilization produced powders with characteristics closer to those of the fresh raw material. Regarding the contents of ashes, pectin, lipids and chlorophyll b, the samples obtained by convective drying showed characteristics close and even superior to those of the lyophilized powder.
